Chapter 90: She will win Overwhelmingly

"What do you want? I think we should start from there," Alyndra said.

Vale pretended to think about it. "I want a spatial ring. The size of a wardrobe."

Of all the non-weapon artifacts, it was the most useful, and he had been thinking of how to get one for himself. He’d recoiled when he heard the price of one, but now, with a battle-crazy woman in front of him, he might easily get it.

I’ll just have to sacrifice... bet on one of my teammates.

Dlodus couldn’t help himself as he chuckled. "Ahahahahaha! You went for one of the expensive things immediately!"

What made the rings expensive was their rarity. There were other spatial storage artifacts, like chests, bags, and the summonable ones. But none were as convenient or easily accessible as rings.

"Wow. This guy is really greedy. He’s actually going for something that expensive."

"Does he have something of equal value to give up?"

"How naive. Maybe he thought this would be like street fights and brawls."

"And betting against Alyndra, no less! What a bold, greedy guy."

Vale heard the whispering since they weren’t trying to keep it quiet. He couldn’t help but smile as he waited for Alyndra’s reply.

She raised her right hand, where a golden ring glinted on her middle finger. Then she gestured, and the ring shimmered. Suddenly, a small wooden chest appeared on the table in front of her. She opened it and ruffled through it before bringing out a plain black ring.

"This is what you want. Then what can you produce in return?"

Vale was already ready for this. The only thing of value he had was the sword artifact he’d collected from the assassin. He took it from Xan and placed it on his lap. "This."

Fell jolted from his place, looking as if he was restraining himself from bolting to Vale’s side. But instead, he looked away, his expression like steel—how could he openly admit he’d sent an assassin after Vale?

Alyndra’s aura crawled over the sword. "This is a good weapon artifact, but it’s slightly lower in value than this ring."

Vale leaned forward. "You want entertainment, right? Then I can guarantee that my team member, Slya, will defeat anyone you put up, if they’re not team leaders. She will win overwhelmingly."

He seemed to be full of surprises because they were all shocked to hear him. Did he just challenge Alyndra?

Even Slya seemed surprised to hear him, but she didn’t show it. Instead, she grinned back at the Knights staring at her.

Alyndra, for her part, looked as if she’d just been served her favorite food. "Deal! I agree to this! But they must not struggle for their win. It must be something that cannot be debated, a resounding victory!"

Vale nodded. "Deal."

Alyndra was already consulting with her team leaders, so he turned to the well-hidden surprise on his team members’ faces. Then, before Slya could say anything, he hurriedly said, "Slya, if you win, I’ll allow you one night of good alcohol. And I’ll spar with you seriously."

She slowly closed her mouth. "Deal."

As usual, Xan seemed to be the only one seriously worried, but he kept quiet this time because of where they were. Tiber, for his part, understood—Slya had the highest offensive capabilities among all of them, apart from Vale.

Different Knights had different reactions to what was going on.

Fell shifted in his place. "Well, it seems she’s going to take care of him alright. I wonder what will happen after she kills his subordinate. He’ll want to fight himself then, and then she’ll kill him too."

Meanwhile, Dlodus was thinking the same but had a slightly confused look on his face. "I thought he’d be smarter than this with the way he’d been handling matters, but he just walked into that. Alyndra wants to crush him." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Those who had been glaring at Vale now gave him amused looks as if they couldn’t believe him.

Alyndra turned back to him. "I’ve made my decision. You’ll fight the Vice Team Leader of Team 14."

The room stilled.

Vale tensed. Vice leader? Isn’t that a bit too much, you—this bit*...!! Wait... I can’t back out now. Besides, I want my subordinates to grow as well. They need something to push them. Slya isn’t weak; I’ve fought her myself.*

"Very well. Slya, do your best."

She nodded, and at the same time, Mawion stood as well. They walked to the edge and jumped into the pit below. Mawion was a thin man with a big face and a nose like a door handle.

Alyndra grinned. "Are you sure she’s going to be alright? I’ve heard about her ability to create things with shadow. The reason I chose Mawion is because they have similar abilities; he can create and control metal."

"Oh, she’ll do fine," Vale said, throwing his hand casually. But inside, he felt doubt. That meant they’d gathered intel on him as well and probably had matching fighters for all of them. This is not good.

"Not fine. She has to do very well," Alyndra warned.

Meanwhile, inside the pit, the two fighters were squaring off. Slya felt nervous even as she glared at the man in front of her. This would be her very first important fight, and she didn’t want to mess it up, especially in front of Vale.

"You can fight now," Alyndra’s voice floated down from above.

Slya crouched and created a sword, but Mawion didn’t move. He looked bored as he raised his hand, creating small metals that suddenly filled the air in front of him, then exploded forward, blasting the space between the two.

This bastard has the same power as me! Slya thought in shock, remembering just in time to create a full-body shield in front of her. But the attack was stronger than she thought, and she grunted as she added more essence while being thrown back.

She looked up, but Mawion was there!!

Her back tingled, and she threw herself forward in a roll, but that still wasn’t enough. A wall of metal materialized beside her and immediately slapped her away.
