Building My SSS-Rank Universal Empire: From Trash to Cosmic Overlord-Chapter 78: Let’s fight
Vale stood in front of the building, thinking about how he was going to carry out the assassination. He’d gathered information earlier in the day and knew there was only a four-man team and some servants in the room.
"I should go with the bold attempt. Honestly, I’m embarrassed that I’m from the Scuffed Bones. How dare those rank 34 spoil our name! Well, maybe I should deal with that after this," Vale said out loud.
But he wasn’t stupid. Anyone who would go against a team was sure to have some power. Maybe some powerful artifacts? He shook his head. "I have my own tools too."
From his back, Vale unstrapped a long wooden box. He unlocked and opened it. Inside was a sword with three blades fused together at the hilt. It resembled a trident more than a sword.
He sent his essence into the sword, and the blades glowed. The two blades beside the one in the middle shuddered and warped around it.
The artifact’s power was that it could make everything around it, except its user, gain three times their weight. This included magic attacks but, of course, not the user’s magical attacks! Vale could also control the weight.
He walked into the enclosure of the small iron wall, making his way steadily toward the door. Instinctively, he looked up at the window that was partly open and saw a man standing there. The man’s eyes were like two pools of darkness that immediately drew Vale in, but then he jolted, and the man was suddenly gone.
Vale smiled. "Already afraid? But there’s nowhere you can run. Even if you manage to get out, I have a team already waiting to track you for me."
He opened the door and entered the front hall, where he met his first opponent. It was the man he had seen earlier! He was waiting with his arms crossed in front of him.
"You should leave."
Vale smiled and twirled his weapon. "Why should I, when the fun is just starting? Come on, raise that battle axe of yours. I want to know how good you are."
The big man did just that. He held the axe as if it weighed nothing, and then, without warning, leaped forward! His axe cut through the air with a whooshing blast, but as soon as he got close to Vale, he slowed. He grunted as his axe went limp in his hand, making him trip.
He corrected himself and straightened with difficulty. Something heavy was pressing down on him, and his shoulders hunched, but he looked at where his enemy was. Vale had disappeared!
A shadow blurred behind him, and he felt an extra weight on his back, along with Vale’s voice whispering, "That was impressive, but not that impressive. You can try again in your next life."
Vale’s sword came down like a hammer, carrying a weight that slammed into the big man’s head and smashed through it like an egg. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Vale grimaced. "This is why I don’t like this sword sometimes, it won’t give me a good cut."
He walked up the stairs and began to check the different rooms as he slowly made his way up the floors. Suddenly, an arrow shot at him from the front. It blasted forward, but as soon as it got within his space, it slowed and fell, the momentum lost.
"Finally, another one."
"You’re dead the moment you entered this place," a female voice said. She appeared as if from the shadows, holding an arrow in her right hand.
But Vale raised his sword, showing off the dried blood. "I don’t think so."
Her eyes widened, and a horrified gasp escaped her lips. "What?! Impossible!"
"What’s possible is that the big guy is lying dead on the ground floor. I’m assuming he’s not the one called Vale, because that would just be too disappointing."
She shuddered, frozen like a statue. "Y-you killed him? Tiber is dead? But... that’s impossible."
Vale gave her a solemn look. "What about I show you that he’s really dead? See, if you join him, then everything will be solved, right? Let’s see, we’re both from the Dark Order, right?"
As he said that, darkness surged around Vale, coiling around his limbs and body. "Let’s fight!"
Slya didn’t correct him that they were not in the same Order, even though their powers overlapped. Her face rippled with anger and grief. The darkness around her caught this and trembled in reply. Darkness coalesced into small blades that floated around her.
They locked eyes and then did something common among all Dark Order Knights, Shadow Step!
They both disappeared into the darkness, only to reappear close to each other. The blades around Slya had already started blasting at Vale, but his artifact slowed them down, causing only small injuries before they were dragged downward.
Vale’s sword flashed toward her chest, only to be stopped by a full-body shield that glowed red and dark, as if it was newly forged. Instead of making something that would get dragged to the ground, Slya had created something that wouldn’t be easily pulled down!
But Vale was experienced. The weight surrounding the area vanished and reappeared around his weapon, distorting the air around it. The sword slammed into the shield, shattered it with ease, and continued inward, crushing her chest and throwing her back.
She sputtered, blood poured from her mouth, but she clenched her jaw and gestured. With no time to create anything sophisticated, large blocks of forged darkness appeared in front of her, blasting forward.
Vale raised his sword and slashed downward, sending an arc of darkness that gained its own weight as it went forward, crushing the blocks with ease.
The remaining blocks were dragged down by the weight.
Slya grunted as she tried to stand, but her chest continued to spew blood that ran down her body, darkening her clothes. She raised her hand to summon the last of her strength, but an arc of darkness flew toward her, and her head was roughly removed from her neck.
