Building a Business Empire with my Technological System-Chapter 71 Securing Location and Patent
71 Securing Location and Patent
January 25th, 2024.
Somewhere in Bataan. Michael was driving down the road with his RAM TRX 500. Its engine roared as he pressed the gas pedal slightly, causing the heads nearby to turn and wonder who was behind the wheel of such a powerful machine. The sun was just starting to set, casting a golden hue over the landscape and reflecting off the sleek black surface of his pickup truck. Michael had always enjoyed driving. Today, however, was not just a leisurely drive; he was on a mission.
Turning off the main road, Michael followed the directions he had received earlier. The path became less defined, and more rugged, leading him through a series of turns and bends that tested the capabilities of his vehicle. But the TRX 500 was more than up to the challenge, its tires gripping the uneven terrain with ease as Michael navigated toward his destination.
After a few minutes of driving, a vast expanse of land came into view, the fading light casting long shadows across it. This was it—the potential site for SolaraTech's future factory. Michael pulled over and stepped out of his vehicle, taking in the scene before him. The land was flat and expansive, seemingly perfect for his plans. And in the site were camps, housing the engineers and architects that Michael hired from a well-known firm before him, the outlines of temporary structures and vehicles indicated the preliminary work had already begun. The air was filled with the earthy scent of disturbed soil and the distant sounds of machinery and people working.
Michael parked the vehicle where most of the vehicles were parked and then stepped out of the vehicle.
A figure approached him, The man was clad in a white polo, jeans, and a hard white hat atop his head.
"Mr. Reyes, I presume?" the man called out as he got closer, extending a hand in greeting. "I'm Carlos Gomez, the lead engineer on this project. It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
Michael shook his hand firmly, "The pleasure is mine, Mr. Gomez I've heard a lot about your work. It's good to finally put a face to the name."
Carlos smiled, gesturing for Michael to follow him. "Let me show you around. We've completed the initial assessments and have some ideas on how to proceed, but your input will be invaluable."
As they walked across the site, Carlos pointed out various features of the land and discussed potential challenges and opportunities. "The terrain is mostly favorable, which is a good starting point. However, we'll need to conduct further soil tests to ensure it can support the structures you have in mind. There's also the matter of access roads and utilities; they'll need to be developed."
Michael listened intently, nodding as Carlos spoke. "Well you are the expert in the field, if you think that's important then do your thing. However, I need the facility to be built within the timeline I gave you. Which is six months. I don't care how much it would cost, just build me a factory where I can start rolling out solar panels at the earliest."
Carlos nodded in understanding, "Understood, Mr. Reyes. It's a tight timeline, but with additional shifts and some prefabricated components, it's achievable. The cost will be higher with this accelerated schedule, but we'll ensure the project meets your deadline without compromising on quality."
They continued the tour, discussing logistics, workforce accommodation, environmental considerations, and potential suppliers for materials. Michael emphasized his vision for the factory to not only be efficient but also environmentally friendly, aligning with the ethos of SolaraTech.
As the tour concluded, they returned to where they started, near Michael's vehicle. "We'll start the detailed planning phase immediately. I'll coordinate with the architects and our construction teams to draft a schedule that meets your requirements. Expect an update from me by the end of the week," Carlos assured Michael.
"Thank you, Carlos. I'm counting on you and your team. Keep me posted on everything," Michael said, shaking Carlos's hand once more before getting back into his RAM TRX 500. It was already afternoon, specifically one o'clock, but there was still a lot of work to do. Michael has to return back to Taguig before five o'clock in the afternoon to finalize the application for the patent. Since the lawsuit was dropped, the patent application was now Michael's top priority to secure the solar panel technology.
The drive back to Taguig was smooth, with Michael using the time to mentally prepare for the meeting with the patent office representatives. At the Intellectual Property Office, Michael was promptly escorted by the guards to the officer that he had been talking to ever since he applied for a patent. In that room, Michael sat across from him, leaning forward and then tapping his finger on the surface of the desk.
"So…I'm sure there'd be no hurdles right? Where is the patent?" The officer peered over his glasses at Michael, a pile of documents neatly arranged in front of him. "Mr. Reyes, rest assured, we're in the final stages of processing your application. The review has been comprehensive, covering all technical specifications and claims associated with your solar panel technology. Your application has passed the substantive examination with flying colors. We've verified that your technology indeed meets all criteria for innovation, non-obviousness, and utility. You'll have the official documentation in hand within the hour."
Michael's posture relaxed slightly, a mix of relief and satisfaction washing over him. "That's excellent news. My money was worth it."
The officer nodded. "Yeah, it was all worth it." One hour later, one of the officials of the IPO entered the officer's office and handed him the document.
The officer received the document, glanced over it briefly, and then looked up at Michael with a nod. "Here you are, Mr. Reyes. Your patent certificate." He extended the document to Michael. It was a formal certificate, emblazoned with the official seal of the Intellectual Property Office, confirming the grant of patent rights to Michael Reyes for his innovative solar panel technology.
Michael took the document, his eyes quickly scanning the text. Seeing the solar panel and the storage system officially recognized and protected under the law, under his name, was a monumental moment. "Thank you."
"If there is anything you need protecting, well you know where to find, and you know the cost," the officer said. "Yeah…don't worry, we are going to discuss the hypotheticals," Michael chuckled. He rose to his feet and waved the document. "I'm going to leave now."

He slid into his RAM TRX 500, placed the certificate on the passenger seat, and started the engine. A familiar tone chimed in his head. [Mission complete: Finding Your Business Location.] [Rewards: 15,000 System Points, 1x Random Chest, and an Energized Drink.]

Hello Guys, for those who are reading up until this point. I would like to show my appreciation for supporting this book. I have some news for you. In date of 28 and 29, I won't be able to upload as I am stockpiling chapters. But expect in the March 1st, update would be stable with two chapters being released at 00:01 HRS. This assurance comes from that I will be participating in the win-win contest which mandates me to write chapter and release them everyday. That's all. Thank you once again.
