Chapter 1631: Liches, Gods and Deviants! (2)

Fulgardt hissed a breath and evaded a blotch of black from the Imperial Territory. He could hardly maneuver around with every part of his being turning into a special kind of rock. No power Fulgardt possessed could transmute his already transformed bits back into flesh, soul and Broader Existence.

This really seemed like checkmate.

However...

The Immoral grinned.

To think Void would go this far... and be so lukewarm in her intent at the same time.

’And here I was looking forward to showing off with this against the brat...’ thought Fulgardt.

Some distance away from him, Quintess was expelling a shower of light through his firing Amras. A Deity’s Amras was different from that of a Divine. His formed a thick, bolt outline around him and began sprouting shapes – avian shapes. Nearly a hundred of them sprang forth but remained tethered to the bold, glaring white outline around the Deity.

A blotch of black scrolled across him, but he remained still. It met his bombastic Amras... and did him no harm.

’Hooo...’ It was an impressive show, Skullius had to admit.

He had not expected Quintess to outright counter the Imperial Territory’s effects. Indeed, that was what the Deity was doing with staggering laser focus. Each of the avian caricatures formed by his Amras kept all of Skullius’ assault functions at bay. It was like how an Incandescent Stager could ward off a Majestic Territory’s powers simply by wrapping themselves in Nitros.

’You’re not satisfied with just that either, are you?’ Skullius thought. Quintess had a counterattack in mind.

...But Listafelle was also rebelling against the might of the Territory.

She wasn’t as powerful or as handy as Quintess, but she too found a way to keep from harm.

Skullius couldn’t quite grasp the reason behind it, but he would in the future. Listafelle’s current physical body was a purchase. It was akin to a Treasure, one provided by the Aspire to Divine organization. Hers was of a higher quality than Quintess’, and it possessed a particularly nasty ability: complete immunity to damage for a thousandth of a Consternal – 43.2 seconds.

Skullius scoffed and turned away from the Deities. He had no shortage of enemies. Now, the best target he could go for was...

Grasping his wakizashi tight, he made a quick, graceful slash in Fulgardt’s direction. The Immoral was in a bright zone. It all but guaranteed that Skullius’ attacks would reach him no matter what he did.

However...

An extraordinary blaze of red flared protectively around the Immoral and a skeleton dressed sharply in a lapel suit appeared before him and shielded him from the high-powered attack!

It was truly mind-boggling how much super-condensed Undeath energy flared from the Arch-Lich. It might have been limitless.

Fulgardt scowled at his saviour and Skullius narrowed his eyes. To think the Undead were shielding the Immoral.

Soizar turned to Fulgardt and dropped his spectacles a notch such that his flaring sockets met the Immoral’s eyes.

"Hurry on now. Petrify quicker, will you?" he said. "You’re a prize worth of study, half Parallel, statue and all. I give you my word, for that very reason, I’ll keep you from harm."

It was all mockery and Fulgardt understood it.

The damned Lich was looking down on him and Skullius.

"Hmm?" Soizar had expected Skullius to be baffled by how casually he intervened and even deflected his attack from Fulgardt.

He was sorely wrong.

He couldn’t have known, but the Sovereign of Refined Anarchy was omniscient with his Imperial Territory, just like Deities were within the worlds they had created. It was a draining ability, but Skullius was able to use it on non-Deity beings seamlessly!

Indeed, he had known Soizar would move in to defend Fulgardt. While the Arch-Lich was doing that...

Skullius’ wakizashi caused a turbulence with its incessant swinging. It lashed out at the open air violently, Benighted Ju`wtte lacing its blade... and dozens of slashes were released into the sky.

...!!!

Soizar’s cubic vessel was slashed into a thousand pieces, chunks and runes and cords within it flying worthlessly in all directions. Its passengers were caught off guard and laid bare. They began falling into Deific Usurper before they could stop themselves. The instant the black and bright hues touched them, they didn’t let go.

The Death Knights and Doom Knights aboard were marked for extinction within the blacks and whites!

"Fuck Somanda..." Soizar said with a hot, harsh breath. He didn’t move from his spot, but Skullius did. In a blink, Ferex streaked for the targets, kicking off the sky. His master readied his weapons. The Herald didn’t use his Secondary assault function to obliterate them because...

"At ease, you bastard," said Souran to him, laughing. "We were coming down anyway!"

She was suddenly in the midst of Soizar’s Death Knights and Doom Knights, shielding them all with an absurdly massive shroud of Undeath energy so potent it was warping the colors around her. That was enough to shield them from Deific Usurper’s Secondary assault, but not from Skullius and Ferex.

The Hound was suddenly ravenous. He was larger than he was seconds ago, and thinner. He belched a lion-like roar and lunged at the closest Death Knight just as Skullius leaped off him, nocked an arrow of Ju`wtte on his bow and fired. The arrow streaked with flashy violence, bore cleanly through two Death Knights and stopped at the third.

Souran had caught it with her bony hand. It was too easy.

"Young Sobbo would have had his work cut out for him if he went in alone, I see," she said, and then she launched herself off the Death Knight she’d saved. She bounced like a pinball on seven more of the Undeath units before storming towards Skullius who had already seen her move coming.

The Arch-Lich’s Undeath essence reserves seemed to flare tenfold in volume and density. She cocked her arm back, her shawl of ribbons rippling, and threw a nigh-invisible punch at Skullius. It was unreasonable how she could generate so much power with a fist. She could have been a standard Deity’s equal in raw might.

...But Skullius blocked her attack with the tip of his gladius. Ju`wtte traced its length, reinforcing it. It absorbed the blow with ease.

Tktktktktktktktktkt.

"Oh, I’m going to have the time of my undeath later. I will not let Somanda live down his fumble over such amazing powers!" Souran said, the flames in her sockets blazing.

"I’m not sure you’ll have a later," Skullius said to her.

"Is that so?"

There was no barrier to communication between them. Parallels could communicate with more than just languages, just like how Sila and the Death Knight had been communicating (or rather, would communicate.)

Souran’s gaze momentarily fell away from Skullius. She turned to her left where a feral Null Lifeform was swinging its claws and brandishing its fangs, ripping away at Soizar’s Death Knights!

"Now how in the world did you get your hands on a creature so similar to us?" she asked.
