Bride of the Serpent King-Chapter 30:Beneath the Mask
Chapter 30 - 30:Beneath the Mask
Chapter 30:Beneath the Mask
"Boss, should I finish off the human girl?"
Everett glanced at the bodyguard. "You want the queen to be sad?" he asked, raising his brows as a murderous glare settled in his eyes.
"I dare not," the bodyguard bowed immediately.
Everett was about to respond when his phone began to ring. From the ringtone alone, he instantly recognized the caller and answered it without hesitation.
"Um... um... Eve, actually I'm... erm... I'm with Lizzy. We... we're going to the clothing mall," Zaiyila stammered nervously.
Everett smiled, the cold aura around him vanishing completely without a trace. "Alright then, have fun," he responded.
"Really?!" Zaiyila's excited voice echoed.
"Sure," Everett confirmed.
"Thank you so much! I love you!" Zaiyila shouted happily.
Everett chuckled. "I love you more. Don't be late getting back, okay?" he instructed.
"Yes," Zaiyila answered before disconnecting the call.
Everett smiled, then turned to the bodyguard. "Your job is to protect the Queen, not stand there gawking at me!" he scolded.
"I'm sorry, Your Majesty!" the bodyguard bowed and vanished instantly.
"Drive back to the mansion," Everett instructed the driver.

"So intimate with your brother. I'm really jealous now. I wish I could tell him that I love him too," Elizabeth said, rubbing her chest with a feigned pained expression.
"I said don't even think about him, okay? There's no chance," Zaiyila retorted.
Elizabeth looked at her and chuckled. "I noticed you're quite stingy and protective when it comes to him," she observed.
"Is that so?" Zaiyila asked, blinking repeatedly.
Elizabeth nodded as she continued to drive steadily.
"That's good then," Zaiyila replied, a hint of pride in her voice.
Elizabeth laughed lightly.
"Right. You're from a noble family, but I noticed you don't have a driver or bodyguard—you drive yourself," Zaiyila commented.
Elizabeth chuckled again. "Though I'm from a noble family, I'm not as spoiled as you and I don't think my family is big like your's. We have bodyguards, but the school doesn't allow us to bring them," she explained.
"Ehn?!" Zaiyila looked at her in disbelief.
"I think that's the difference in power between us. You're free to do whatever you want at school, while we follow the rules until we graduate."
"Nah, that's not true."
"Oh, Aiyi baby, try to understand the big gap between us. You have money and power. We're only wealthy without power—so, you're the boss," Elizabeth smiled.
Zaiyila blinked dumbly.
"Before, I thought money was everything. Because of that, I was cheated more times than I can count by people of the same status who I called friends. Though it didn't affect me much, after meeting you, I realized what wealth without power is—and what true power, and a true friend, really mean," Elizabeth added with a warm smile.
Zaiyila nodded. "You're my first friend, actually," she murmured.
Elizabeth almost swerved the car in shock. Now filled with excitement, she exclaimed, "Really?!"
"Mhm," Zaiyila nodded in confirmation.
"Whoa! I'm very lucky!" Elizabeth shouted and sped up.
"Calm down! I don't want to get in an accident yet!" Zaiyila yelled.
"Sorry... I was just too excited," Elizabeth grinned sheepishly.
Zaiyila rolled her eyes.
Elizabeth chuckled and continued driving more slowly until they reached their destination. She parked the car carefully. "We're here. Let's go," she announced, stepping out and immediately opening the door for Zaiyila.
Zaiyila exited the car and looked at the massive mall with wide eyes. "Whoa! This is beautiful," she exclaimed.
Elizabeth placed her hand on her waist proudly. "This is the most expensive mall in the whole capital. It's very hard to get in, but I'm a VIP," she stated.
"Whoa, this is incredible," Zaiyila gave her a thumbs up. "I'm just visiting here for the first time. Will they even let me in?" she asked.
"Sure. Let's go," Elizabeth replied and took Zaiyila's hand, dragging her toward the mall.
As they reached the entrance, a guard in a blue uniform stopped them. "Please show your card," he demanded.
Elizabeth immediately checked her purse, pulled out her VIP card, and handed it to the guard.
He carefully inspected and scanned the card. After confirming it was genuine, he returned it to her and looked at Zaiyila. "Please, face masks aren't allowed in the mall," he stated.
Zaiyila's expression froze as she turned to Elizabeth.
"Who made that stupid rule? How come I wasn't informed?" Elizabeth frowned.
The guard shook his head slightly. "It's for the mall's safety and reputation," he explained.
"You—"
"It's fine," Zaiyila interrupted, holding Elizabeth back and gently removing her mask. "He said it's for the safety of the mall," she repeated calmly.
The guard was stunned, staring at Zaiyila's breathtaking beauty. Even Elizabeth's expression froze.
"Aiyi! How many days has it been already? You're even prettier than before!" she exclaimed, quickly covering her mouth.
Zaiyila chuckled, adding even more charm to her radiant beauty. She wasn't just a fairy—no, she was a goddess, a beauty capable of destroying worlds.
Elizabeth gulped and forced herself to accept the reality. She looked at the guard, who was completely dazed. Immediately, she blocked his view and snapped her fingers in front of him.
"Stop that perverted gaze. She's removed her mask. Can we enter now?" she demanded.
The guard blinked twice, his face flushed. "Umm... please show me your card," he repeated in a low, unsteady voice.
Elizabeth frowned. "She's with me," she snapped.
"Then... then you can enter," the guard bowed deeply and opened the door for them.
Elizabeth pulled Zaiyila closer, and the two of them entered the mall.
Once they were out of sight, the guard let out a long breath, though his face was still red. "Can a human really be that beautiful?" he muttered to himself, still recalling Zaiyila's face.
He was lost in thought, unaware that a cold-looking man was now standing in front of him.
"Are you done?" the man's deadly voice echoed, snapping the guard back to reality.

The guard looked up and took a step back in shock. "Mr... Mr. Riven!" he stammered.
"You've got some nerve staring at her, haven't you?" the man's voice was icy and filled with menace, making the poor guard nearly wet himself.
