Bound To The Ice Dragon King-Chapter 218: Good news!
Rhea slowly opened her eyes, the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. Memories of the chaotic night still lingered in her mind, as she pushed herself up to a sitting position on the bed, she felt a throbbing headache that made her clutched her head in her hands. She had cried herself to sleep in Draven’s arms last night, perhaps that must be the cause of her headache.
Rhea looked beside her and saw the space looked undisturbed as if Draven hadn’t slept on the bed. She had been too consumed in grief last night to care about how Draven must have felt when he couldn’t save her. She had been too lost to even realized they were back home, not until she had noticed Draven was about to leave the room did she pull him back and allowed herself to cry. Last night had been a hell of a night, she had witnessed people die and had almost died herself, until...
She quickly shifted her mind from wandering back to last night’s incident, she didn’t want to remember all the deaths, instead she wondered where Draven had been to, she could tell he hadn’t slept on the bed. Did he leave after she fell asleep last night? Where did he go?
As Rhea scanned the room, it became apparent that he was nowhere in their room, and he didn’t leave any letter behind like he did whenever he woke up before her and had to leave the house. Perhaps she was just worrying for nothing and he was somewhere around the house.
The cold winter wind swept in from the balcony, causing the white curtains to dance. When Rhea was getting out of bed, she heard the sound of water coming from the bathing room. She became a little hopeful thinking that Draven was taking a bath and hadn’t done anything drastic while she was asleep. She headed towards the bathing room.
Upon opening the door, Rhea expected to see her husband, but instead found her maid preparing a morning bath in the tub. She felt disappointed and asked the maid, "Have you seen my husband this morning?"
The maid paused her work and turned to Rhea, saying, "Yes, I saw him return to the house early in the morning before the break of dawn, and he left shortly after. He told me to inform you not to worry if he doesn’t come home tonight or the next day. He mentioned having important matters to attend to and advised you to stay at home and not go out while he is away. He also instructed me to prepare your bath with a pain relieving medicine, which is what I was doing."
Rhea felt uneasy and asked, "Did he happen to mention what this important business is before he left?" She couldn’t help but be worried that it might be related to Erebus.
"No, he didn’t mention it. All I know is that he is working at the palace," replied the maid.
Worry crept into Rhea’s thoughts, but she pushed it aside, convincing herself that Draven must be attending to important matters in the palace. The maid assisted her in taking a shower, and as the warm water washed away the remnants of the chaotic night, Rhea descended the stairs to have her breakfast.
In the spacious living area, she found Lilac curled up on a cushion beside the large back door window, the morning light casting a gentle glow over her purple hair and dress. Rhea approached, relief washed over her at the realization that nothing had happened to Lilac last night at Annalise’ house.
"What are you doing here this early?" Rhea asked, and Lilac quickly swirled around. "Oh, you is awake, Rhea." Lilac exclaimed as she stood up to her feet,"I was waiting to have morning food with you like Mister had told me."
Rhea frowned upon hearing Lilac’s words, "Draven asked you to also take care of me, didn’t he? Do you know where he is? I_"
Before Rhea could complete her words, Lilac jumped and pulled her hand, dragging her to the dinning hall, she said, "Mister didn’t say such thing, he only told myself to live in this your house from now on. And to make sure you consume food properly. Now sit down while myself serve you meal." She pushed Rhea down on the chair and walked to the kitchen. Shortly, she walked out with a tray of food.
Rhea didn’t have the chance to protest before Lilac sat the tray down on the table and opened the lid of the bowl, the warm chicken soup aroma immediately whiffed to her nose. Rhea pressed a hand to her mouth and ran out through the back door of the kitchen, she knelt down and began to throw up her guts. She hadn’t eaten since last night, and she only threw up the water in her stomach. Tears welled her eyes as she coughed out water.
Rhea remained in that kneeling position until she felt her nausea go down. She used her sleeve to wipe her mouth and pressed a hand to her burning stomach. Before Rhea could wonder what was wrong with her body lately, Lilac approached her with a worried look.
"My savior, is you alright? You Look so pale like the snow." She asked as she crouched down beside Rhea on the ground and handed her a cup of water.
Rhea took the water, she only took two sips and passed the cup back to Lilac. "I haven’t been feeling that well since the day before yesterday. I think I am too stressed lately..." She mumbled softly.
"Should myself get the doctor? You don’t look okay." Lilac suggested as she stood up, preparing to go and get the doctor in the palace.
Before Lilac could go, the kitchen maid walked out to the pair. The young woman looked down at Rhea with a slight frown. "Um, my lady. I can smell a slight change in your aura, and if my sense is correct, I think you are..."
"She is dying!" Lilac exclaimed, cutting off the maid, "Is my poor savior going to die? Is that why she is vomiting and looking so pale and exhausted? Oh, fairy mother of nature," Lilac cried with tears streaming down her plump cheeks, "I don’t want her to die, she is looking_"
"Lilac, I am not dying. Let Livia finish her words." Rhea turned to the maid, "What were you saying, Livia? Am I ill or something..."
Ever since Rhea was born, she’d rarely fall sick, she could count the amount of times she had fallen sick in her childhood. It wasn’t more than twice and now that she was suddenly feeling sick, she couldn’t help but wonder if she had perhaps caught some kind of illness.
Livia, the maid noticed Rhea’s worried expression and smiled, she nodded her head, "Well, yes, you are kind of ill, but in a good way. Your aura has changed to that of a pregnant dragon."
Lilac’s tears immediately ceased, while Rhea glanced up at the maid as if she had grown two heads. "What do you mean?"
Livia smiled, "I mean you are pregnant." She declared with a clap of her hands.
"Eh," Lilac crouched down before Rhea again and pressed her hand against Rhea’s flat stomach as if to confirm it herself. A faint light emitted from Lilac’s hand and her purple eyes widened, "My savior is carrying another soul in her stomach?!" She exclaimed, standing up, she did a happy dance around Rhea while clapping her slender hands.
While the maid and Lilac were clapping and dancing, Rhea remained seated on the ground, her hands pressed against her stomach in disbelief. "I am pregnant..." she whispered to herself.
Although Rhea had anticipated becoming pregnant after countless sleepless nights of intimacy with her husband, she hadn’t expected it to happen at this moment. Especially when they had yet to eliminate Erebus from their lives. Rhea carefully considered everything, but when she thought about how much Draven desired to have a child of their own and to start their family of seven, which they had planned, she couldn’t help but smile through tears of joy.
She was pregnant, and she was going to become a mother.
Rhea pushed herself off the ground, "I need to tell my husband. I will go and find him in the palace!"
Before the dancing pair could stop her, Rhea had dashed passed them in a run and made her way towards the palace.
Throughout her journey to the palace, Rhea maintained a smile, neglecting to engage in a conversation with anyone. She proceeded directly to the throne chamber, assuming that Draven might be occupied with King Henry. However, to her dismay, she discovered only the king, who appeared as though he had anticipated her arrival.
Abruptly halting in her steps, breathing heavily, she greeted, "Good morning, your majesty
King Henry’s gaze met Rhea’s, and he spoke with a grim tone, "Good morning, Rhea. It’s good you’re here, I have something to tell you."
Rhea’s excitement faded as she observed the king’s expression. Sensing his grim mood, she inquired, "Where is Draven? Is he not with you?"
King Henry hesitated before responding, "Draven left for the western part of the dragon realm this morning. He went to battle the serpent king."
Rhea’s eyes widened in disbelief, and she stammered, "What? Why would he do that without telling me? What is the use of battling a serpent king?"
King Henry sighed, "I spoke with him last night." He began grimly, "I told him he wouldn’t be able to battle Erebus without his core, and he swore never to harm you. Since there was no other choice, I told him about using another creature’s core. And despite my warnings to him about how evil and powerful the serpent king was, Draven insisted on going."
"What? So, you’re telling me that my husband is out there all by himself, fighting against a mighty serpent king in order to obtain its core?!" Rhea exclaimed with anger, only to quickly remember that she was speaking to the king. She took a moment to calm her emotions, closing her eyes and suppressing her rage and fear for her husband’s well-being. Finally, she spoke, saying, "Where is this place? I will go and find him."
King Henry explained the dangerous mission and the potential risks of going after Draven, warning her, "You must understand that this battle is highly dangerous, which is why he kept it a secret from you. Draven will not be pleased if he finds out you’re coming after him, my dear."
Her panic deepened, but she stood firm, "I don’t care. I need to be with him. Tell me where he is, Your Majesty, please." She pleaded desperately.
Reluctantly, king Henry disclosed the location, and Rhea, without a moment’s hesitation, rushed out of the throne chamber, determined to find her husband in the midst of the looming danger.
