Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 287: Lucky
Anne wanted to find a way to escape his skillful hands lathering her all up with soap in a wide bath that fit them both comfortably where she was sitting between his legs, surrounded by every rigid form of his body, she knew from last night’s experience that he was deliberately teasing her body again with the way he was slowly, so tentatively soaping her up, so she splashed soapy water all over his face, laughing at how the foam clung to his hair and some trailed down his nose.
His expression stiffened and her laughter ceased, for a moment she almost thought he was angry.
Had she woken up the angry tornado again?
Anne bit her fingertip wanting to apologize, but before the words could slip out of her he splattered a handful of foam on her cheeks. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Perhaps she looked hilarious because he started laughing too, the only other time she had seen him laugh like this was the other day at the kitchen.
She froze, simply staring at his laughing expression. He really did look adorable laughing this harmlessly.
Anne could remember how she had thought it would be totally impossible to make this giant tornado show even a tiny sign of mirth not to mention laughing, the thought that she made him laugh like this, made him this happy, it filled her heart with a warm glow.
He held her against him in the bath as if just wanting to savor this moment with her.
Later, they had breakfast together in the garden shed where Anne found a chess board on the table and insisted on playing it with him after they had eaten.
Anne was very good at playing chess, she had played with Kristen so many times that she got so good even Kristen who was really good at the game couldn’t beat her.
Andrew merely chuckled at her words of challenging him to play with her.
"It’ll be no fun, wife, because you’ll lose in less than two minutes."
Anne knew Andrew was naturally arrogant so she wasn’t surprised that he made such an arrogant claim.
"I’m not that pathetic at playing chess, you’ll be the one to lose in two minutes."
He raised an amused brow at her hearing that, "Really?"
He seemed interested in seeing just why she was so confident so he agreed.
When they both settled against each other, Anne keenly looked over the board and created a strategy in her mind about how to beat him. She knew Andrew would most likely be really good, if not on par with Kristen then he was even better, but she was confident she would win.
Seeing the bright light in her eyes as she studied the board cleverly, Andrew remarked,
"You’re smiling too bright for someone who is going to lose, sweetheart."
"I’m smiling because I’m sure I could beat you with my eyes closed." Anne said with playful bragging.
Andrew laughed lightly shaking his head.
When they started playing, Anne astutely tried to study the patterns of his moves.
So he was the classic player huh? He would be too easy to defeat.
Anne made a clever move next, grinning at him like a cat
Andrew tilted his head as if assessing her move.
Wait, had she pushed him to a corner? That means she gave him too much credit by thinking he would be better than Kristen.
She saw him pick up the king’s pawn and almost burst out laughing at once.
He really was cute, playing the king pawn already when she would soon be...
Anne’s thoughts came to a screeching halt when he raised those confident dark eyes to her and said, "Check it."
She glanced down and was stunned, she hadn’t seen that coming at all. She wasn’t the one to back him into a corner, instead he’d backed her into a tight corner in the game.
"What were you saying about me losing again, wife?" He smirked at her and Anne became really alert.
Tsk, how could she have underestimated this giant tornado for a single moment?
Anne readied herself to play even fiercer that she’d been doing this whole time, but she wasn’t even given a chance to recover, his moves were so quick and precise, Anne could only just facepalm everytime for actually entertaining the thought that she could win against him.
"Checkmate." He muttered and Anne was at a loss for words.
"You...you set this up right from the start." She accused realizing that even before she started playing he had already calculated it all accurately.
Leaning back with a confident tilt to his lips, he said, "I never lose, Annelise."
She pouted and sat back in her seat,
"You were just lucky, I never lose at chess either."
He got up from his seat, crossed over to her and picked her up unexpectedly.
"Come, I’ll give you a reward." He said walking casually despite carrying her in his arms, it was as if she weighed nothing.
"Why?"
"Because, my wife is indeed a really good player. No one lasts that long playing with me."
A smile lit up her face and she leaned her head on his shoulders.
When they passed by, several of the household staff would whisper and giggle to each other. It was a big surprise to see their boss transform into a romantic husband, however the way he looked after Anne and stuck to her like glue that would never come off was quite cute that it made the maids secretly gush.
Andrew took Anne to the kitchen where he opened the expansive fridge to show her a collection of different ice cream flavors.
Anne had never found a single drop of ice cream in the manor before, so it was unexpected to find such a vast collection of several options to choose from.
"That’s too much ice cream." Anne chuckled.
"Then you’ll have more to choose from." He remarked, eventually picking the one she pointed at.
Anne happily ate the rich, mixed flavor ice cream, perhaps she was too happy just as she always was whenever she ate ice cream, but she held a spoonful to his mouth in a bid to feed him a taste and saw how he suddenly went stiff.
She immediately remembered something the butler had once told her. He hadn’t had a taste of ice cream in years because he hated it.
He had hated it ever since the day his mother had left him with a single ice cream cone as if it were compensation for her abandoning a kid.
Anne halted as well.
He hated ice cream, but he had gotten this much of it for her because she liked it, wasn’t she being insensitive offering it to him now?
Anne was about to retract her hand when he stopped her...
