Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 487: Condition
Hence, without the slightest hesitation, she spoke up, her voice firm as it cut through the faint hum of the café.
"Aurora can’t join. She already has her own meeting."
Aurora nodded lightly, her expression calm, fingers brushing against the strap of her bag.
’That’s fine,’ she thought. ’I have much more important people waiting for me.’ She did not voice it, merely letting the moment pass.
Dana, however, saw things very differently. Since she had already decided that she wanted to get acquainted with Aurora, she resolved to be shameless once again.
Leaning forward, she smiled sweetly and declared, "If Aurora isn’t coming, then I won’t join either."
The words landed like a stone. Dorothy’s heart skipped, and panic flickered across her face.
Dana was someone she genuinely wanted to know better.
Even though Dana wasn’t exceptionally rich, she possessed something far more valuable... connections.
In particular, there was a certain company owner Dana was acquainted with, someone Dorothy had been carefully eyeing.
In fact, aside from Aurora, Dana had almost successfully ingratiated herself with several famous figures. Her network was impressive, and if she ever asked for a favor, there would always be someone willing to return it.
It could be said that Dana was deeply familiar with her own greed, with her relentless desire to climb higher by befriending the wealthy.
That hunger had long turned into an obsession. Once, she had even set her sights on Aurora, thinking she would be an easy target.
But Spencer’s possessive, almost suffocating care toward Aurora had filled Dana with jealousy, and in that bitterness, she had gradually forgotten her true purpose. Now, she remembered it again. Unfortunately, it was already too late.
Still, she tried her best to get close to Aurora.
Dorothy hesitated, then forced a smile. "If that’s the case... then we can invite Aurora too."
She turned toward Aurora, her voice slightly off, betraying her unease. "Would you like to come with us?"
Aurora was just about to lift her hand in a polite refusal when Dana stepped forward, cutting in smoothly.
"Why would Aurora decline in the first place?" She laughed lightly. "If you want, you can even invite your friends to the our room here."
Dorothy stiffened. A cold sweat crept down her back. ’Invite more people?’ she thought anxiously. ’I can’t afford that.’ She opened her mouth to object, but Aurora spoke first.
"First of all," Aurora said calmly, her tone gentle yet firm,
"I truly appreciate the invitation. However, I don’t wish to dine together."
Her gaze shifted toward Dana, then flicked briefly in the direction of the private room.
"Second, if the two of you are acquaintances or friends, you should discuss it between yourselves, rather than imposing a decision on someone else."
With that, Aurora turned and walked away, her footsteps steady, her back straight.
Dorothy stared after her in disbelief, lips parted. Dana’s face flushed crimson as realization dawned.
Aurora hadn’t raised her voice, hadn’t insulted her directly, yet the meaning was unmistakable. She was being taunted... for deciding everything on her own, for never asking, for assuming control.
Embarrassed, Dana turned toward Dorothy, forcing an awkward smile. "Do you... want to invite Aurora?"
Dorothy gave a strained smile in return. "If you want, I’m fine with it."
But Dana finally understood just how overbearing she had been moments earlier.
She exhaled, her shoulders drooping, then shook her head. "No. I don’t want to anymore." Her voice softened. "I’m sorry for forcing you just now."
Dorothy offered a faint, forgiving smile. "It’s okay. Whatever you did was your choice. I’m not here to judge."
Together, they entered the café.
As they walked, Dorothy couldn’t help thinking about Aurora.
’If she wanted,’ she mused, ’she could have taken advantage of the situation. But she didn’t.’
That alone showed Aurora was kind-hearted enough not to make things difficult.
At the very least, their plastic sisterhood had served some purpose. Memories surfaced, and Dorothy smiled softly.
Time really had flown by. Once upon a time, she had taught Aurora how to fake everything. Now, Aurora had reached a point where even the things she wore looked effortlessly real.
Dana, on the other hand, was restless. Curiosity gnawed at her, and she finally couldn’t hold back. "How well do you know Aurora?" she asked.
Dorothy paused, then smiled faintly. She could see it clearly now... Dana’s interest, her ambition, her calculation. Calmly, she replied, "I do know her. From what I understand, she has a very good family background."
Dana leaned in slightly.
"She owns more cars than the clothes she wears here," Dorothy continued casually.
Dana’s eyes widened.
"And from what I’ve heard," Dorothy added, her tone deceptively light, "her bank balance is already nearing the billions."
With every word, Dana felt her heart pound faster, temptation curling tightly around her thoughts.
She finally waved a hand. "Whatever. It doesn’t matter." She forced a laugh. "We shouldn’t talk about someone else’s money."
Yet inwardly, her mind raced. ’If I stay close to Dorothy,’ she thought, ’there’s a high chance I’ll run into Aurora again.’
And another thought followed quickly, sharp and urgent. ’If she truly has that much wealth, then I absolutely need to get into her good books.’
Lost in her thoughts, she followed Dorothy inside.
During dinner, they chatted about trivial, casual topics, the clinking of cutlery and soft chatter filling the air. Toward the end of the meal, Dorothy finally took a breath and voiced her true intention.
"There’s something I wanted to ask," she said carefully. "I was hoping... you could help me get admitted into one of the companies whose CEO you’re acquainted with."
Dana’s eyes flickered with interest as she listened. She smiled politely, her lips curving just enough to seem sincere. "It isn’t difficult."
For a brief second, hope bloomed in Dorothy’s chest. Her shoulders relaxed, and her fingers tightened around the edge of the table. However, Dana’s next words poured cold water over that fragile optimism.
"As long as you make sure Aurora and I become friends," Dana continued evenly, "I’m willing to fulfill whatever wish you have."
Dorothy had expected this condition. Even so, hearing it out loud made her pause. For a fleeting moment, doubt crept in.
’Has Aurora really mastered things to the point that even Dana is dancing in her palm?’ The thought irritated her, but she kept her expression smooth.
Between their plastic sisterhood, there was an unspoken rule. Neither of them would ever expose the other’s lies.
That fragile balance had kept them standing for years. So Dorothy merely tilted her head and replied carefully, "That isn’t something I can decide on my own. We’ll have to wait for Aurora’s approval."
Dana’s composure wavered for a split second. Anxiety flickered in her eyes, but she quickly masked it with a polite smile. "If that’s the case, I will leave for now. Once you have an answer, you can contact me."
This time, Dorothy didn’t rush to reassure her, nor did she try to stop her. She only nodded lightly.
That subtle indifference made Dana’s heart sink. ’I miscalculated,’ she realized too late. With stiff steps, she left the room.
Dorothy slumped forward, resting her elbows on the table, and muttered under her breath, "She’s truly foolish. She can’t even see through Aurora."
Meanwhile, in another room, the atmosphere was entirely different. Aurora sat across from Mia and Selena, her expression frozen in disbelief. She had never expected them to drop such news so casually.
"You’re... getting engaged?" Aurora repeated, blinking slowly.
She leaned back slightly, her brows knitting together. "Don’t you think you’re rushing things a bit?"
Selena immediately moved closer, her expression sharp, but Mia reacted first. She grabbed Aurora’s hand firmly, her grip warm and grounding.
"We’re sure," Mia insisted. "We’re alone anyway. Our parents don’t care about us."
Her voice hardened as she continued, "Instead of waiting for them to suddenly show up and pretend they want to arrange our marriage with someone else, we’d rather build our own world."
Aurora fell silent for a moment, the weight of those words settling in her chest. Then she exhaled softly. "If that’s the case, then... stop there."
She paused before adding honestly, "I still feel like you’re rushing. Things can get awkward later."
Mia and Selena exchanged a glance. They understood her concern immediately.
Even if Aurora’s words might have offended someone else, to them, it was warmth and care.
If Aurora truly didn’t care, she would have hyped them up without thinking twice. Instead, she chose to be practical, to point out flaws now so they wouldn’t become wounds later.
Selena laughed lightly, breaking the tension. "In that case, you’re definitely going to be our bridesmaid."
Aurora laughed as well, shaking her head. "That won’t be easy. How can you think of marrying Mia when you still haven’t gained my approval?"
Selena raised a brow and shot back, "Why would I need your approval?"
Aurora smiled calmly. "Because I raised her for two... no, three months. That means I own a part of her."
