Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 480: Basic Rights
Later, the truth emerged. His father was drowning in gambling debts and keeping a mistress on the side.
His mother, who should have left, stayed. She lowered her head again and again, enduring everything.
That became Anton’s lesson.
From eighteen to twenty, his worldview twisted entirely. Watching his mother’s submission, he concluded that this was how relationships worked.
He needed someone who would endure him the same way. Every other woman was nothing more than a temporary distraction.
So he began making bets, manipulating people, and ruining lives for profit and pleasure alike.
Even Adriana had unknowingly become part of that scheme.
But Adriana resembled his mother in subtle ways, and somewhere deep inside, Anton had begun to desire something more permanent with her.
He wanted to marry her, to keep her by his side, and to continue living exactly the way he always had.
Unfortunately for him, the past he thought he had buried had finally come knocking.
Now that Molly had finally caught up with him, Anton no longer believed that she would let things end so easily.
Revenge was inevitable. The air around him felt heavier with each passing day, thick with an invisible pressure that made it hard to breathe.
At times, he even considered withdrawing from the department entirely.
’If I weren’t so stupid,’ he thought bitterly. He realized that this was Peter and Adriana’s doing.
Resentment festered in his chest like a slow poison. His hatred toward Adriana and Peter burned hot, to the point that the urge to run, to disappear, nearly overwhelmed him.
But he never got the chance.
When the lecture ended that day, the classroom gradually emptied, chairs scraping softly against the floor, murmurs fading into the hallway.
Just as Anton gathered his things, Molly leaned close, her breath brushing against his ear, carrying a faint scent of expensive perfume that made his stomach churn.
"Try leaving," she whispered smoothly. "I dare you." Her lips curved slightly. "And I’ll make sure everyone knows what you did. Every detail."
Anton’s blood ran cold.
"I’d love to see," she continued softly, "how you’d ever manage to enter a decent university again. Especially one connected to Peter."
For the first time in his life, real fear gripped him.
His shoulders stiffened, and whatever defiance he had left drained away. He receded silently, his gaze lowered, his jaw clenched so tightly it ached.
This sudden change didn’t go unnoticed.
Adriana, watching from afar, finally released a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding.
Relief washed through her when she noticed that over the following week, Anton remained quiet, almost docile.
Molly, on the other hand, took full control, her presence looming over him like an unshakable shadow.
Sometimes, Adriana felt a fleeting pang of pity.
’Is he being forced?’ she wondered briefly. But that thought never lasted long.
Every time Molly threatened Anton, money followed.
Crisp bills, silent transactions. And the moment money was involved, Anton, who moments ago looked resistant and humiliated, would immediately quiet down.
At first, Adriana assumed he was merely suppressing his disgust.
But as time passed, she realized something unsettling.
Anton wasn’t enduring this unwillingly. As long as someone was willing to spend money on him, he became obedient. Almost eager.
The realization left a sour taste in her mouth.
’Disgusting,’ she thought, exhaling softly. Still, she chose not to interfere.
As long as Anton wasn’t being forced, and as long as he stayed far away from her life, she didn’t care what he did.
’Let him enjoy whatever he wants,’ she decided coldly.
Far away from Adriana’s life, Olivia was dealing with a very different kind of frustration.
Who would have thought that shortly after getting to know Louis, she would encounter his mother, more specifically, Louis’s overprotective mother?
Ever since Louis started paying attention to her, constantly hovering around her with unmistakable intent, Olivia had understood his feelings clearly.
To be honest, she had even considered accepting him as her boyfriend.
But deep down, wariness held her back. Louis’s background was... complicated. Underground. Dangerous.
She worked in the police department.
’God knows how much blood is on his hands,’ she thought grimly.
The idea of getting involved with someone from the underworld felt like stepping straight into forbidden territory.
And now, she was sitting across from his mother.
Olivia’s gaze swept discreetly over the woman seated opposite her.
She was slim and elegant, dressed in a luxurious outfit that stopped just below her knees.
The checkered leopard-print fabric screamed money.
Large black sunglasses rested on her face despite being indoors, paired with earrings so big they almost brushed her shoulders.
Her hair was styled meticulously, every strand in place.
’Rich,’ Olivia concluded instantly. ’Obnoxiously rich.’
But she kept her expression pleasant.
"What do you want?" Olivia asked calmly. "And why did you invite me here?"
Louis’s mother wasted no time. Her posture straightened, and her voice was firm.
"I don’t like beating around the bush," she stated. "I already know about you and Louis. And I don’t agree with this relationship."
Olivia nodded without hesitation. "I don’t agree either."
The words landed like a slap.
Louis’s mother froze, clearly unprepared for that response.
Olivia continued calmly, her tone steady and composed.
"What I don’t agree with is you interfering in something that doesn’t even exist." Her eyes met the woman’s behind the dark lenses.
"Louis and I aren’t in a relationship at all."
For the first time since the meeting began, Louis’s mother was left completely at a loss for words.
Who would have thought that the girl she was meeting this time wouldn’t follow any of the usual rules at all?
’Isn’t she supposed to pretend there’s something going on with my son?’ Louis’s mother thought irritably. ’Shouldn’t she act distant, coy, or at least a little scheming? Even a fake sense of humility would have been acceptable.’
The more she observed Olivia’s calm posture and unbothered expression, the more something felt off.
This girl didn’t fit into any script she was familiar with, and that unsettled her.
"Are you truly not in any kind of relationship?" she pressed, her voice slow and probing.
Olivia nodded without hesitation, her expression firm and unchanging.
"I’m not."
The answer came too smoothly. Louis’s mother studied her carefully, noting the steadiness in her eyes, the lack of panic or pretense.
’She’s not lying,’ she realized, her nails digging lightly into her palm. But that didn’t mean the problem disappeared.
’If that’s the case, then it must be Louis who likes her,’ she concluded. ’And that’s even worse.’
She knew her son better than anyone. Once Louis set his heart on something, he wouldn’t let go easily.
If she allowed this to continue, he would eventually choose Olivia no matter the cost.
But if the other party refused firmly enough, Louis would give up.
And even if he didn’t, all it would take was presenting him with a "better" option to make him realize how misplaced his interest had been.
With that thought in mind, she lifted her chin and smiled gently, the kind of smile that never reached her eyes.
"If that’s truly the case," she said smoothly, "then you’ve already saved yourself."
Olivia raised an eyebrow.
"You see," Louis’s mother continued, her tone turning condescending, "our family background is... exceptional. We come from old wealth." Her gaze swept over Olivia critically. "Someone like you, from a merely ordinary rich family, doesn’t belong with us."
Just as she was about to continue, Olivia raised her hand calmly, stopping her mid-sentence.
"I’m not interested in your background," Olivia stated coolly.
She stood up, the chair scraping softly against the floor, and looked down at Louis’s mother.
"And you shouldn’t underestimate my abilities," Olivia added. "From where I stand, this feels like an amateur plane trying to challenge a veteran one."
The words landed sharply.
Louis’s mother clenched her fists, her perfectly manicured nails pressing into her skin. She lifted her head slowly and met Olivia’s gaze, her eyes turning icy.
"It seems you’re not willing to take the easy way out."
Olivia laughed lightly, as if she had just heard a ridiculous joke.
"I honestly don’t understand how I’ve offended you," she replied calmly.
"I’ve already told you I’m not after your son. There’s no relationship between us." Her smile faded slightly. "So why are you still acting as if I’m chasing him?"
Enough was enough.
"I won’t beat around the bush anymore," Louis’s mother snapped.
"If Louis dares to pursue you, then your responsibility is simple. Reject him thoroughly. Make sure he never follows or approaches you again."
Olivia laughed again, this time sharper.
"That decision would be mine," she said evenly. "Not yours."
Louis’s mother’s lips curled into a cold smile.
"So this is it," she mocked. "You’re finally showing your true colors. You are after my son after all."
Olivia shook her head slowly.
"No," she corrected. "I’m after my basic rights."
The words caught Louis’s mother off guard.
"What if, in the future, I end up falling for Louis?" Olivia continued calmly.
