Bloodline of the Wizard-Chapter 368 - 180 Prologue, Heaven’s Pride_2
Chapter 368: Chapter 180 Prologue, Heaven’s Pride_2
The boy’s skin was rough, his appearance bizarre, as if entirely made from mud and sand—a puppet doll sculpted from the earth. He squinted joyously at the flesh monster being chased away by the black Rock Giant, chatting as bits of soil and clay continued to fall from his nose, eyebrows, and mouth.
"Did I hear your name is Lufer? That many have died by your hands?"
"Pity, I don’t have a drop of blood for you to suck..."
"You seem much weaker than the rumors said.
Last time I met someone who could morph into various wild beasts, far stronger than you..."
As he spoke, the strange boy’s mud-sculpted eyeballs rolled around, and his stiff, rough face suddenly twisted into a vicious, cold demeanor.
He stared intently at the fleeing Flesh monster, his voice sharp as if hard stones were grinding fiercely.
"Kill him, Venus!"
"Quickly kill him! Then we’ll find our next toy..."
As if commanded by the boy, the massive black Rock Giant pounded its chest and let out a deep, majestic roar.
Dark and solid, rune patterns emerged on its body, emitting an indescribable terror, as it took big strides forward, turning the ground underneath it into rolling waves of black soil.
Meanwhile, not far away, the visage of the pursued Flesh monster darkened.
He opened his enormous, bucket-sized mouth, spewing out evil, ancient syllables of spells.
Shortly after, his entire surrounding blood-colored mist converged into his body, forming a massive red vortex.
His already bizarre and unsetting form swelled and twisted further under the force of this power...
Similar scenes continued to occur in various corners off the southern lands, as the time for a specific date drew near, the prelude to an event was slowly unfolding.
This was a desolate, uninhabited plain of broken rocks.
The plain was littered with stones of varying shapes and sizes, from pebbles to larger rocks, their surfaces weathered and smooth, showing shades of gray, brown, and reddish-brown.
These stones lay scattered on the ground, forming a vast and irregular paving, like a bizarre jigsaw puzzle accidentally crafted by nature.
Suddenly, two figures broke through the sky above the wasteland and quietly landed on the stone-covered ground.
These were two wizards in grey robes, both appearing middle-aged, their demeanor calm and alert, radiating with the sort of spiritual power fluctuation that belonged to Level 1 Wizards.
One of the wizards looked around and frowned, "Martin, what exactly was the purpose of getting me here?
To explore the Mechanical Heart?
It’s hardly a secret anymore that the Mechanical Heart exists in these wastelands, but you must know, without a key, it’s impossible for us to enter.
Did you perhaps find a key in last month’s Sunset Gathering that leads into this ancient site?"
"I wasn’t that lucky."
The other middle-aged wizard shook his head but swiftly whispered, "But I have another way.
Recently, I encountered a damaged metal puppet nearby; it looked like a grey mountain goat with a missing horn.
Impressive, most of my spells almost seemed immune to it...
Rols, you know that aside from the true ancient Dwarf forging, there isn’t another wizard in the south capable of this.
I suspect that lame-legged Grey Mountain Goat came from the Mechanical Heart, if we can catch it, maybe we’d find an entrance to the Mechanical Heart Ruins...
Even if not, the value of this antique Magic Puppet isn’t low.
Several large workshops at the Sunset Market collect these things, and the Magic Stones we could get in exchange could cover several of your missions or explorations..."
The first wizard’s eyes flickered, seemingly persuaded.
"I hope you are not deceiving me. What should we do next?"
"Use your Prediction Magic to help us locate that goat."
The first wizard frowned, "I suppose my study in Prediction Magic could only be considered at an Apprentice level..."
"That’s enough."
Martin patted the other’s shoulder comfortingly, and then quickly pulled out a few rocks from his Waist Storage Bag that looked ordinary and almost indistinguishable from the gravel they were stepping on, handing them to the wizard named Rols.
"These are the rocks stepped on by the Puppet Goat; you might find them useful."
Rols nodded and, without hesitation, took the rocks from the other’s hands and began to set up the materials needed for the Prophetic Magic ritual right there.
Wizard Martin stood by the side, waiting quietly with anticipation.
However, before Wizard Rols had even finished preparing for the ritual, suddenly, a massive and icy pressure descended from the midair.
Snowflakes appeared abruptly above the wasteland, as if the deep winter had silently arrived without warning.
Both men’s expressions changed dramatically at the same time, and without hesitation, they packed up the things on the ground and flew rapidly towards the sky. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
But as they had just ascended halfway, they saw the dense clouds above their heads parting, and a vast expanse of Ice Frost falling.
Following that, a gigantic snake shadow, hundreds of meters long, appeared in their view.
Its body carved out of Ice Crystal, adorned with a deep blue horn shaped like a giant crescent blade, and enveloped by wind and snow, the cold and ancient wild air hit them like an ice river tide.
That was the majesty of an Ancient Snake Species, the overlord among Magic Beasts, which stiffened the expressions and bodies of the two middle-aged wizards, pinning them in midair, afraid to move.
When those narrow, scarlet snake eyes gazed at them, showing a cruel desire to feed, the two felt their hearts being tightly clenched by coldness, thinking death had arrived.
However, in the next second, those snake eyes seemed somewhat unwillingly withdrawn.
That’s when they noticed, sitting quietly atop the terrifying Demon Snake, was a handsome young man with a tall and straight posture.
He was dressed in a beautiful long robe interwoven with silver patterns, and his deep blue eyes reminded one of the infinitely tranquil waters during autumn.
"Whoosh—"
The hundred-meter-long snake breezed over their heads, eventually coiling and settling not far from where they had just stood.
The surging frost silently spread out around as the Demon Snake landed, feeling like being drenched in a bucket of ice water, the two middle-aged wizards shivered as if waking from a dream and sped forward, thinking the faster they left this place, the better.
They didn’t know how far they had run before they finally stopped.
Looking at each other, they both saw a color of relieved fortune on each other’s pale faces after surviving a calamity.
It took them more than a minute to regain the ability to speak.
"That was... the Ancient Ice Crystal Demon Snake?!"
"It must be, it’s almost identical to the descriptions in the ancient books! It’s said that this type of Ancient Snake Species, as long as it grows normally, would at least reach Dawn Rank when it matures!"
"And to think it was actually subdued by someone? Becoming a mount and Magic Pet!!"
Both their faces showed a lingering, intense expression of disbelief and shock.
After a while, one of them finally spoke hesitantly: "Looks like it must be another top-tier Genius Wizard from a large Wizard Force.
The Battle of Heramus Genius Seat is about to commence. These Heaven’s Pride figures are appearing more frequently.
Last month at the Sunset Gathering, I saw one, young yet already a Level 3 Wizard! But he seems far less impressive than this one..."
"Should we continue?"
"Let’s forget it."
Wizard Martin shook his head, "We just nearly died, almost becoming fodder for someone else’s Magic Pet.
I’d rather save my life to attend the Genius Gathering at the Ancient Fairy City and watch the battle for seats in a few months..."
After a brief discussion, they decided not to stay any longer on the wasteland and quickly left.
Maybe after going back, among the small circle of wizards by their side, there would be an added legend of a Genius Wizard who rode an Ancient Ice Crystal Demon Snake.
.....
"I’ve told you many times."
Ronan slowly withdrew his gaze from watching the direction where the two passing wizards had left, and looked calmly at the Ice Crystal Demon Snake in front of him, saying, "Only when I allow it, you can take wizards as food."
The Ice Crystal Demon Snake hissed back at him rebelliously.
But after meeting Ronan’s gaze, it ultimately chose to lower its proud head for the time being.
