Blood Awakening: The Strongest Hybrid and His Vampire Bride-Chapter 409: Family And Punishment
Chapter 409: Family And Punishment
The chaos didn’t last long after the appearance of Nagisa, Leona and the majority of Volkov’s combat maids; the sound of gunfire and explosions faded in less than an hour.
After everything, corpses and wounded monsters groaned on the road, while held at gunpoint, their cries echoing through the area became a warzone.
"Wow..."
Nagisa and Dimitri came back on their matching bikes, with alternate paint jobs, and the married couple suited each other. Nikolai sat on the back of a medical van where the maids treated his wounds.
"Tsk... that stings a little."
"Please bear with it, Patriarch."
The moment they pulled up to him, he couldn’t help but grin.
"You look like hell, kid." Dimitri, a huge man who was once Nikolai’s goal, someone he aspired to be like. Calm, cool and devoted to his wife and family. "You alright?"
The sharp, grainy voice might have sounded harsh to others, but Nikolai could feel the concern and affection.
"I’m good, Father."
"Hahaha! Calling me dad?"
This was the first time Nikola had met Nagisa’s husband in a while.
He was excited.
"What about your lovely mother... do you not care about her?" Nagisa cooed, the woman who practically raised Nikolai over the last decade. He held a soft spot for Nagisa because she was an older and sexier version of his wife, Nikita...
"Ah... no, of course I am happy to see you too."
Even the great patriarch was weak in the presence of the woman who resembled his mother, and the man who was his idol beside his father.
His face turned bright red as Nagisa stepped off the motorcycle and approached him.
The woman’s eyes glimmered with a sly expression that made her look younger than her years. "I’m so glad you are alright, Nikita cried to me to help you... Silly boy, why didn’t you ask us to come?"
"Hah, I don’t want to trouble you with everything all the time..." Nikolai then shook his head; that was an excuse. "I honestly believed that Nikita would contact you, I wanted to trust in her... am I foolish?"
Nikolai let all his women know what would happen, so he trusted them to devise a plan superior to his own; he couldn’t manage several plans simultaneously. Kumiko and Selene were much better suited for those roles, and thus he focused on his plan, leaving everything else to them...
Nagisa reached over and grabbed the young man’s cheek, squeezing it hard.
"Trouble!? Foolish boy, you are the father of our first grandchildren... and a sweet boy we both view as our own!"
"Nagi is right, kid... we’ve been with you so long..." Dimitri looked to the side and noticed his lovely pregnant daughter sitting in the car, pointing at him, and his tone changed slightly. "Well, the fact you trusted my little fluff so much isn’t bad."
"What will we do with you kids..." Nagisa facepalmed with a sigh, but her lips curled into a smile. "Don’t worry, we got the traitors..."
Nagisa squatted down to Nikolai’s eye level, then reached out and hugged him.
"You did well... really, we never expected you to grow this fast." Nikolai could feel Nagisa’s warmth spreading across his skin, and he couldn’t help but hug her back. ’This woman is like my second mother...’ It was a strange feeling, but Dimitri also smirked at him with a peculiar hand signal before he patted Nikolai’s head.
"Kid, the Fenrir family will always be yours. Don’t forget that in the future, whether you need help or just a chat. I’m here."
The words of both parents made Nikolai feel a wave of warmth. He looked up and saw Nikita staring at them from inside the car, her cheeky, wolfish smile flashing her fangs as she blew a kiss.
’Ah... how could I be so foolish and doubt them?’

With the help of the council members who came to assist, the cars soon picked up Nikolai and the others. Sasha was taken in a vehicle with Nagisa and Leona, while Dimitri drove the van with Nikolai, Alexei, Marianne, and Alaric.
There was no music in this van, just the silence of everyone thinking about what had occurred.
Nikolai felt a little glum because his wives all drove in different cars, but that was likely due to Alaric’s untrustworthiness.
"Hey, brother..." Alexei whispered to Nikolai, who leaned against the car, his eyes a little dazed.
"Mm?"
"Thanks..."
Alexei reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder. His expression appeared tired but grateful...
"Isn’t that a given, after all you did for me? No thanks needed."
The two men laughed, and Marianne, who was seated behind them, watched the pair; it might have been the first time she had seen her brother so happy, except when he was with his wife.
Marianne found herself watching the handsome Nikolai, his cheek and body covered in bandages because of the silver bullets; they took all possible precautions, even if most had already healed.
"Thank you, Patriarch Nikolai..." Marianne placed a hand on his shoulder before letting out a soft sigh.
Nikolai glanced back and noticed the woman’s face; "Don’t be stupid, you’re like a little sister to me. Call me Nikolai."
He didn’t want to make Alexei’s sister feel uncomfortable.
After being rescued, it was likely that the pair would stay at the Volkov complex to avoid any danger until the threat against them vanished.
The first thing to do was to make them both feel welcome and fit in; otherwise, it would be hell.
Dimitri’s low voice, close to a growl, suddenly broke the calm atmosphere as he spoke to the cuffed and chained Alaric, the silver and anti-monster SSS detainment devices limiting his movement.
"Why did you do it, Al?"
"..."
The man looked down, his sharp gaze focused on the ground. His clothes were dishevelled, and the usually confident and composed man appeared tired.
"Speak to me!" Dimitri growled, although not a Volkov, like Nikolai to him... Viktor was an idol to all the young werewolves who were his father’s age.
With the sharp twist of the wheel and a screech of tires, their van left the road and bounced onto a side road.
The sudden change in direction startled everyone inside, causing them all to lurch forward as they tried to grab something.
Dimitri didn’t flinch when Alexei and Nikolai looked at him in confusion.
"What could I do..." Alaric spoke, his voice hoarse as if dry.
"Speak up," Dimitri barked.
"I don’t think you need any explanation, but okay... fine, there was only one reason for betraying Viktor... because I didn’t think we could win! I would rather gain the promise that Viktor and my family would survive than fight!"
He snorted and spat blood from his mouth, then glared at Nikolai, who remained quiet. "You know that Everen is the real deal, right? The moment we made this stupid plan, you were supposed to die!"
’...’
Although his words were harsh, Nikolai couldn’t feel any sense of killing intent or mockery from them.
"So..."
"So you’re a coward." Marianne hissed and looked down at him with disgust. She was about to continue her rant when Alaric’s eyes narrowed, and he shot her a glare. The young vampire recoiled. She didn’t fight often, and her body was weak after being a test subject. So she pulled back, shrinking in her seat... covered in sweat as she trembled.
"Tsk... you know the truth, Dimitri." Alaric continued.
"If those bastards rise all their living dead and elders, the alliance would fight a losing battle."
Nikolai thought it was a lie, but then noticed Dimitri’s slight change, his face froze for a second.
"..."
’Living Dead? Elders? What are these things...’
Nikolai wanted to ask more, but he could only sigh, trying to find something else to speak about when Alaric began to laugh.
"Well, at least that’s what I thought until today... How did you do it?"
"What do you mean?" Alexei asked as Nikolai remained quiet.
"You fool, look around you, the number of people who moved for him. How?"
Alexei looked confused for a moment, but Dimitri’s frozen face returned to normal, and he sighed.
"He did it all by himself."
"Impossible, there’s no way this kid could pull this off... It must have been you and Nagisa..."
Dimitri’s lips curled into a smile. The two had always argued and clashed in the past before Nikolai entered the picture, but thanks to this, the Fenrir Patriarch could finally spread his wings.
"You idiot... did you think having so many Lunas was just for show?"
"Huh?"
Alaric’s face turned blank.
Alexei and Marianne looked at one another with the same expression of confusion on their faces.
"The Fenrir family has more or less united since this young man gained power, then we have the Tepes clan, who, apart from Vlad, who is currently pouting at fully behind him... His father is Ivan, and his mother is Elizabeth. Did you think that the council wouldn’t support him?"
Dimitri pushed down the accelerator, "A Nekomata, Kitsune, Werewolf, Vampire, Mermaid, Hybrid and even the half breed Maid! Does this spread of monsters not make anything obvious?"
Nikolai didn’t understand either, but Alaric’s face changed after a few moments.
His eyes flicked to Nikolai, then back at the dashboard. "Oh... my god, that’s almost half the eastern major forces..."
"That’s not even including that their children aren’t just carrying the blood of Volkov, but the Fenrir, Nagisa’s bloodline and countless others... he’s the bridge of our entire community."
The words echoed, and Nikolai suddenly realised how small actions could result in massive changes...
"I can’t believe it..." Stunned, the traitor once again looked at Nikolai. "No wonder Ivan was so confident... I was far too blind."
After that, Alaric closed his eyes and remained silent for the rest of the drive.
It seemed Dimitri would deal his punishment...
