Blade of the Goddess-Chapter 221
Chapter 221: Chapter 221
While Lilith wished for Zion to go along with her plans, she didn’t mind him acting up in front of Azmorath. Why? Because she hated the man’s guts.
"You may speak, my slave." She answered Zion.
Zion bowed, then turned his attention to the Vampire. "You remind me of a vampire I know, that’s all. Goes by the name Anastasia. She tried to kill me on the way here in fact. Obviously, that didn’t work. However, I did beat this one vampire who attacked me. Bro was a total pushover. A bitch, pussy, loser, demon trash, vampire garbage."
"Anastasia?"
"Lady Anastasia? The one who worked with Gonrod?"
"The Lord’s daughter?"
Azmorath growled, his fangs showing slightly. "Are you trying to upset me, boy?"
"I don’t know? Is it working?" Zion fired back.
No one dared to utter a word in fear of being killed by Azmorath. They all thought Zion was insane and would end up dead within a few moments.
But strangely enough, Azmorath didn’t get upset. He was intrigued by Zion’s fearlessness. Maybe it was foolishness instead; he didn’t know. But what mattered was that Zion had balls, and Azmorath respected that.
"You impress me, human. No one here would dare speak to me in such a manner. I guess being protected by a Goddess does that to someone." He smirked, letting everyone know that even though Zion was being fearless, he was still being protected and wasn’t acting on his own power.
Zion turned to Lilith, pointing his thumb at the vampire as if he was saying, ’Get a load of this guy!’
"I’m sure you know who I am, right?" Zion asked, looking straight into his eyes.
"I do," Azmorath responded.
"So you should know that everything I’ve done has been with minimal aid from her."
"Yet you still got captured and are a slave to Lilith over there."
Zion shrugged. "Such is life. At least she isn’t interested in conquest like you. I’m treated fairly well, actually, especially at night." He smirked
Instantly, some men got extremely jealous of Zion while some women blushed at the thought of Lilith mounting him.
"Hahahahaha! You’re really interesting, you know that? I’m liking you more and more. Now, that’s enough chitchat. Let’s talk about why we’re all here today."
"YEAHHHHHH!!!" The demons shouted with excitement.
"As it’s been going on for thousands of years, I’m sure you all know what to expect from the millennial demon ranking. However, since there is a newcomer here, I’ll explain everything so he can have a...fair fight." Azmorath smirked at Zion.
"During the Demon Ranking, each Archdemon will send a representative to fight for them in the arena. Whoever wins, their master becomes the new ruler of the demon world. Simple enough, right?" He asked Zion.
"Let me guess, it’s a fight to the death?"
Azmorath grinned. "Yes, it’s a fight to the death, and a show for the entire demon world to see."
"Sounds simple enough." Zion responded
"Really? This isn’t just an event or tournament, it’s a cultural tradition. People train their entire lives for this moment, to bring honor and glory to their masters and the demon world as a whole. It also prevents us, Archdemons, from destroying our home. So don’t undermine this event because it sounds ’simple enough.’"
"When does it start?" Zion asked, completely ignoring what Zamorath said moments ago.
It was clear now that Zion was starting to urk the demon. Sure, it was fun at first, but now, the blatant disrespect was getting to him. But still, he kept his calm, knowing that there would be many opportunities to get rid of him at some other date.
"In three months." He answered, "I hope you become strong, human, because if you don’t, then I will be highly disappointed in you."
"Well, it’s a good thing I’m not searching for your approval." Zion shot back.
"Oho! Burn!" Lilith laughed. "Anyway, we’ll be off. I have to train my...pet." She grabbed Zion and teleported away.
---
"Zion. We need to work fast. If you aren’t up to a certain level of strength, you’ll die." Lilith said urgently.
"Oh yeah, and how strong do I need to be?"
"At the bare minimum, at the demon lord level. That’s right under the strength of a demon king, which is under the strength of an Archdemon."
"How strong am I now?" He asked
"Hit me with everything you have. Don’t hold back. But don’t use your weapons either."
So he did. Using all of his strength, even Aurora, he struck Lilith with all of his power.
She simply blocked it with her hand as if it were nothing, which made him sweat slightly.
"Hmmmm. Demon Knight. At your most powerful, you’re around the Demon Knight level. Not bad, but not good enough."
He powered down. "So what do I do? I can’t get any stronger without transscending my current state of being, and I don’t know how to do that yet."
"Authorities." She smiled
"Authorities? Like how you made space move to you?" Zion asked
"Yes. An Authority is the absolute power of a specific power."
"What?"
"Think of it like this. If you have the ability to use fire, regardless of what type of fire it is, mana, demonic, or divine, it’s still fire. But if you have the Authority of fire, then you can bend fire to your own will without the use of any external power source. You command the fire."
"Woah! That’s intense. But that seems too good to be true. What’s the catch?"
Lilith chuckled. "There is no catch. Well, sort of. An Authority can only be used on a power that physically or ’magically’ exists. Meaning you can’t have an authority of love. However, you can have the Authority of mental power, which can then alter someone’s emotions. I don’t know why that’s the case since mental power isn’t magical or physical, but whatever."
Zion then corrected her. "You’re not controlling their mind, you’re controlling the neurons in a person’s brain. Every time we think, small electrical currents flow through our brain, and you’re controlling that activity. It’s called Brain Activity. So it’s physical."
"What?"
’Sigh, these backward-thinking people. I really need to implement science into this world because speaking to people about this stuff makes me look at them as cavemen sometimes.’
"I’ll explain it to you later. However, since we have three months to work with, there are some things I wish to do first."
Lilith shook her head in disagreement. "Zion, whatever you wish to do can wait. This is more important."
"After you listen to what I have to say, you’ll be on board with me."
