Chapter 193: Fish Dinner

Roasting~

A nicely cut fish was placed on a grill. It was then seasoned with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. The fire was crackling beneath, sending up plumes of fragrant smoke that filled the air.

"Whoo~"

Rock smoked a cigarette with one hand and flipped the fish around with the other.

The smell was so delicious that anybody who smelled it would have their mouths water in anticipation of the meal to come.

"What are you doing over there?"

Rock asked as he saw Fang Raon sitting on the porch—a game of General’s Game open in front of him—it looked like he was thinking about something.

"Just thinking stuff..."

He said.

"You need to rest your mind. It isn’t healthy to keep overthinking things. You just played three intense matches!"

Rock shouted.

"Mm, okay."

Fang Raon closed the game and massaged his temples.

There was indeed a small headache that threatened to come as he had strained his mind more than he should have.

"Grandpa, Raon!"

At that moment, a sweet voice came, and they saw Della walking over with a smile on her face.

Before Rock could greet her, he saw that she wasn’t alone as she was walking alongside somebody else.

It wasn’t Miranda as, for some reason, she was nowhere to be seen, which was strange, as she was always with Della.

"Elena?"

Rock said in surprise, and he stopped cooking the fish momentarily and hugged the middle-aged woman.

"It’s been a while."

Elena hugged him and smiled.

"I didn’t know you were here. How long has it been? It must’ve been... years by now."

Rock smiled back and squeezed her hand.

Elena was his daughter-in-law, and even though his son hadn’t treated her well, he was still extremely fond of her.

In his opinion, his son didn’t deserve someone like Elena. She was kind, caring, and had a heart of gold.

’What the hell?’

Fang Raon’s eyes widened in shock at the sight of Elena as he recognized her as the woman who saved him!

’Who is she?’

"Ah, who may this one be?"

Elena looked over at Fang Raon with a tiny smile on her face.

She also recognized him from the brief encounter they had, but she didn’t feel like there was any need to mention what happened.

"Shitty brat, come over and greet her properly!"

Rock shouted.

"Hello, my name is Fang Raon. It’s nice to meet you...?"

Fang Raon shook her hand and had a questioning look, as if he were asking, ’What’s your name?’ with his eyes.

When Elena heard the name, her eyes glistened with curiosity as her smile grew.

"Elena Rose. I am Della’s mother."

’Della’s mother...’

Fang Raon’s eyes widened, and he looked at the young woman, who looked embarrassed for some reason.

There was a small blush on her cheeks.

She had a feeling that her mother was going to embarrass her in some way.

"I am making some food. Take a seat."

Rock said and returned to the grill to keep seasoning the fish, and it was starting to look pretty good.

With the fish, he planned to have some mashed potatoes and a side of steamed vegetables.

Fang Raon, Elena, and Della sat down around the table, and so that the General’s Game board wouldn’t be in the way, Raon put it away.

"I didn’t get a chance to check the match results, so how did it go?"

Della asked curiously.

"We both made it to the second day."

Fang Raon said with a smile.

"Ah, that’s amazing!"

Della said with a smile.

"Do you have a girlfriend, Raon?"

Out of nowhere, Elena asked with a smile, and it was such a sudden question that Fang Raon looked like a deer caught in the headlights.

"Mom!"

Della cried out with flushed cheeks.

"Ah, no... I don’t."

Fang Raon said in half-shock.

"Hehe~ Just making small talk, I apologize for the sudden question. What region are you from? Let me guess... You seem like you’re from the Bliss Region."

Elena said.

"Smog Region, actually."

Fang Raon said with a wry smile.

He didn’t understand what made her think that he was from the Bliss Region, as people from there were drunkards, smokers, gamblers, and rather focused on earthly pleasures.

"Really? That’s surprising. You live in one of those Mega Cities?"

Elena asked.

"...In Megaworld Apartments, yes."

Fang Raon said.

He didn’t mind sharing that, as there were hundreds of Megaworld Apartments—each with over three hundred floors.

And finding him from one of those floors was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

"Wow. I can’t imagine living in Megaworld Apartments. To me, it feels like living in a box, and you barely get any fresh air either unless you step outside the apartments."

Elena said.

"It’s a rather fancy box, though."

Fang Raon said with a wry smile.

"You live on higher floors, though, right?"

Della asked with a concerned frown.

She had heard about the dangers of the Megaworld Apartments, and the lower floors were quite a dangerous place to be.

"High enough."

Fang Raon said.

"Whew."

Della touched her chest and let out a sigh of relief.

She didn’t know that Fang Raon was completely lying, and even though he wasn’t on the most dangerous floors, he was still in the dangerous area.

He didn’t want them to worry unnecessarily, as he was planning to move out soon either way.

"Done~"

Rock closed the grill, filled four plates with fish, and added some mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables on the side.

Then, he brought those plates to the table and poured some drink into the cups.

"What were you all talking about?"

Rock asked curiously as he sank his fork and knife into the fish and started to enjoy his meal.

"Just getting to know Raon better~"

Elena said with a smile.

"All you need to know is that he is a shitty brat and pervert."

Rock said with a scoff.

"...You’re one to talk."

Fang Raon whispered under his breath.

"What the fuck did you say?"

Rock asked angrily and showed his knife, which had some mashed potatoes stuck to the blade.

"Nothing, nothing..."

Fang Raon said grudgingly.

"That’s what I thought..."

Rock mumbled with satisfaction, and then he continued eating.

"Pervert?"

Elena raised an eyebrow in curiosity while she was neatly cutting the fish into tiny pieces and wondered what he meant by that.

"Grandpa... Don’t spread lies about him."

Della said with a pout.

"It’s not a lie. It is the truth!"

Rock said with a sneer, but then Della glared at him, and he stopped talking and resumed eating in silence.

"I heard you’re taking Raon to some training camp. Where are you taking him?"

Elena asked curiously.

"There is a place on the 12th floor that’ll work wonderfully. There is a little place over there where we can stay, and we won’t get interrupted by anyone."

Rock said.

"...About the training camp, Grandpa, I needed to talk to you about something."

Della stopped eating and turned to look at her Grandpa.

"What is it?"

Rock asked.

"...I’d like to join the two of you in the training camp."

Della said with a serious expression on her face.

"Why the hell would you want to come?"

Rock asked with a frown.

He didn’t have such a strong reaction because he didn’t want her to come because nobody had ever wanted to come willingly to one of his crazy training camps.

Therefore.

He believed that she must have some kind of an agenda!

"I’ve been so occupied with the guild master work that I’ve been slacking in my own training. I feel like I am close to reaching level 6, so I want to push myself further."

Della said.

"What about the guild? You can’t just leave it."

Rock asked.

"I already talked to Miranda, and she can be in charge for a couple of weeks when we are there. Even now, she is handling all the guild master responsibilities and recruiting.

"She is very reliable, and she can do it."

Della said.

"...I don’t know..."

Rock said with a frown.

"If that’s what your granddaughter wants, why not? You are also a Mage, father-in-law, so your training can be quite effective on her.

"And I am sure your student here also doesn’t mind some pretty company."

Elena turned to Fang Raon with a smile on her face, and while Raon had been listening, he had also been stuffing his mouth with food.

They all turned to look at him, wondering about what he was thinking about, and when he saw all those looks, Fang Raon just nodded.

He swallowed the food.

"...It sounds good to me..."

"Then it’s settled."

Della clapped her hands excitedly.

"The same goes for you, Della. I already made a deal with Fang Raon. If you complain at all, I’ll end training camp immediately.

"If you oppose my training methods, I’ll end the training camp immediately. I don’t want to hear any backtalk, is that understood?!"

Rock asked like a drill sergeant.

"Yes, Grandpa."

Della said with a smile.

She then turned to Fang Raon and said with a smile, "It’ll be really fun," and looked excited like a student who was going on a field trip.

’Fun? I don’t think so...’

Fang Raon gulped as he saw Rock glaring at him, and he had a feeling that Rock would go easier on his granddaughter while going absolutely crazy on him!
