Black Online-Chapter 191: Outplayed?
The holographic screen appeared in front of them—Choose your soldiers and classes—and the countdown also started.
’This guy comes off as arrogant.’
Fang Raon thought as he looked at West.
West had that pompous expression on his face, as if he were God among mortals, and it annoyed Raon to no end.
However.
It also gave him an opportunity.
’I can use his arrogance against him. I believe, without a doubt, that he’ll just attack me with full force straight from the beginning.
’I think he wants to crush me.’
Fang Raon thought.
In that moment, a plan formed inside his mind, and he rubbed his chin before reaching his hand towards the holographic screen.
’I’ll do this...’
***
[Fang Raon’s Team]
[Tank - Skill: Mountain]
[Helper - Skill: Heal]
[Warrior - Skill: Crescent Slash]
***
’I’ll do the same plan as I did against Incognito. I’ll have Helper stand with Tank, drowning him with heals so that he won’t die, and with Warrior, I can focus on fighting.’
Fang Raon thought.
And he then pressed the "Ready" button, and at the same time, West was also ready, as he had chosen his soldiers.
***
[West’s Team]
[Assassin - Skill: Quick Slash]
[Assassin - Skill: Stealth]
[Mage - Skill: Mist]
***
The countdown slowly ticked down.
Ding! Ding!
In that moment, Fang Raon suddenly received a message, and he opened the chat window out of curiosity.
[Rock: West is master of Assassin class. This means he is extremely formidable in close-quarters combat. DO NOT attempt to fight him. Go for his tower]
"..."
Fang Raon looked at the message, then wiped his hand across the air to make it disappear, and nonchalantly threw a side-glance at Rock.
Rock acted like he didn’t see the glance as he was just staring at his own opponent.
’...Do not fight him in close quarters, huh... Well, that happens to be exactly what I am planning to do.’
Fang Raon thought with a smile.
He did have some time to change his soldiers, but he decided not to.
[00:00]
The countdown reached zero.
In that moment, the holographic battlefield appeared on the table in front of them, and they finally saw each other’s chosen soldiers.
"Hmph!"
West scoffed pompously.
He arrogantly thought that his opponent chose the worst possible soldiers to go up against him, and he already thought that the game was won.
"A bad move... a bad move..."
He said. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
It seemed like he planned to whisper those words, but just barely loud enough for Fang Raon to hear him.
’I don’t mind knocking him down a peg or two.’
Fang Raon thought with a smirk.
In that moment, he controlled his Helper, who jumped onto the shoulders of Tank, and then Tank started making his way down the street.
Warrior followed right behind them.
Meanwhile.
One of West’s Assassins disappeared—he used Stealth—and the other Assassin and Mage started walking over to the village square.
’Two Assassins and a Mage...’
Fang Raon thought.
Even before Rock’s message, he believed that West was going to use Assassins as they were the strongest close-quarters class.
Slowly, his soldiers made their way down to the center of the village.
The village was abandoned. It wasn’t bustling with life like the real version of the village. It was like a haunted ghost town.
At that moment.
Fang Raon caught the sight of West’s Mage and Assassin standing near the old well—they had been waiting for him.
"Mist."
West said.
In that moment, the Mage’s grimoire opened up, and thick mist poured out of one of the pages, enveloping the street in a dense fog.
It became hard to see more than a few feet in front of them.
’Go inside.’
Fang Raon gave a quick order.
His Tank smashed through a locked door, barreling into a building, and the Warrior followed in his footsteps.
’If I stay out on the streets with that mist, I’ll be doomed. Assassins are such a fast class that I wouldn’t be able to do anything if I didn’t see them coming.’
Fang Raon thought.
In that moment.
The mist kept also pouring into the building, but it just hovered near the floor and didn’t rise any higher.
"...Where are you hiding~"
West said with a smirk.
At that moment, his Assassin walked into the building, twirling those claw-shaped daggers around.
’He is planning to fight both my Tank and Warrior all alone? Where is that other Assassin of his?’
Fang Raon thought with a frown.
It was now obvious that West’s Mage was going to be absolutely obvious, as its only spell was the Mist spell.
It couldn’t do any other spell, so it was just going to be far away from the fight and let Assassins handle it.
’Go!’
Fang Raon ordered his Tank.
His Tank pulled out his heavy-looking sword and swung it down at the Assassin.
While the sword kept coming down, the Assassin just kept twirling his daggers, and he then jumped over the sword.
"Quick Slashes!"
The daggers slashed through the air—slashing across Tank’s burly body and even through Helper’s flesh—and the Assassin then landed behind the Tank.
In that moment, Fang Raon’s Warrior clashed swords with the Assassin, and they fought fiercely like their lives depended on it.
Meanwhile, Helper healed both her and the Tank—restoring their health back to full.
’I see now why he attacked all my soldiers just with his Assassin. I have to control three soldiers at the same time, while he only has to control one.’
Fang Raon thought with a dark look.
West didn’t have to control his Mage—the Mage was just somewhere in the village hiding—and he had no idea where that other Assassin was at.
’I might have a hunch about what he is doing with his other Assassin...’
Fang Raon thought.
Tank then resumed fighting, and both he and Warrior were fighting as hard as possible against the Assassin.
However.
They weren’t really doing any damage to the Assassin, and Fang Raon was spending more of his mental energy by controlling more than one soldier at the time.
’Yeah, I will lose like this. He is outplaying me in every way.’
Fang Raon thought.
It started to dawn on him why Rock didn’t want him to fight against West in close-quarters combat.
However.
Fang Raon hadn’t played all his cards either, and there was a reason why he decided to fight West like this.
There was a reason why he escaped into this building, and it wasn’t just because he wanted to escape the mist.
"Crescent Slash!"
Fang Raon shouted.
In that moment, his Warrior’s blade started glowing red, and he started doing crescent slashes—they cut through the air with a whistling noise.
Assassin, controlled by West, did front flips and back flips while dodging those slashes—not a single one of them landed.
At that moment.
Those crescent slashes sliced through the wooden walls and the support beams of the building—as cleanly as a knife through butter.
The building started trembling. The ceiling began to collapse.
’He is planning to bring this whole place down on us!’
West thought in surprise.
In that moment, he immediately ordered his Assassin to sprint out of the door, but before it could, the door collapsed, trapping them inside.
Meanwhile.
Fang Raon ordered his Helper and Warrior to go under Tank, and then his Tank shielded them with his body.
"Mountain!"
Tank’s body became as hard as a mountain.
CRASH~ The building collapsed on top of them, and the Assassin got crushed under several tons of rubble.
The dust billowed up around them, creating a cloud of debris.
In that moment.
The Tank rose up from the rubble—seemingly unharmed—and so did the Helper and Warrior.
[Assassin has died!]
West received a notification that drained all color from his face, and he never thought such a thing was possible.
He was tricked!
’Since the beginning... He planned this!’
West thought with an ugly expression.
However.
The plan didn’t go as smoothly as Fang Raon intended, as he didn’t want to only kill one Assassin, but wanted to kill all of West’s soldiers.
He just didn’t anticipate that West wanted to attack him with just one soldier.
’Time for the plan B.’
Fang Raon thought.
He ordered his soldiers.
In that moment, his Tank lifted Helper to his shoulders and started running—the Warrior followed right behind.
They were heading straight towards West’s tower!
’God damn it!’
West screamed inwardly.
He ordered his stealth-using Assassin—wherever it was currently—to start running for the tower as well.
’I don’t have to fight at all. If I don’t let any of my soldiers die for the next twenty minutes, I will win when the timer reaches zero.
’This is why I chose Helper so I can keep my soldiers alive. He just has one Assassin left, and that one has no offense-oriented skill as well.
’I don’t want West to go after my tower, so I need to put pressure on his tower so that he’ll come to me.
’If he still plans to go for my tower, I have both Warrior and Tank that can cause more damage than a sole Assassin.
’I’ve checkmated him. What will he do now?’
Fang Raon wondered.
It was the same question that lingered in West’s mind—his head was pounding with questions—he also wondered what the hell he should do now.
