Black Online-Chapter 181: Dead Redemption
55th Floor, the Crazy Cliffs of the Doom Canyon.
Kerr walked down a narrow path—he squeezed through a narrow gap between two towering rock walls—and then he walked down a ledge.
If he fell down from this ledge, he would plummet to his death on the sharp rocks below. It was just a fall of about five hundred meters.
Swoosh~ Swoosh~ Swoosh~
The wind was crazy.
This was unexplored territory among players, as only one group had reached this far—and that group was Dead Redemption.
"...Hey, Leon, let’s fight!"
"...No."
"...Please!"
"...No."
In that moment, he started hearing voices from the other side, and after leaving the ledge, he hiked up a nature-made stairs that went between the massive rocks.
At that moment.
He saw a campsite—right under a tall rock formation that looked like an umbrella—and there were players sitting under the shade.
A small campfire crackled in the center, and there was some food cooking over the flames, and also some coffee being brewed.
At that moment, they all heard Kerr and looked over at first with hostility—then they saw who it was and dropped their hostility.
"You’re back, Kerr."
Leon said.
He was a silver-haired man with an easy smile and handsome face—someone who could do some modeling on local newspaper ads.
He was Leon D. Hardt, the leader of the Dead Redemption, and widely considered the strongest player in all of Black Online.
"Yo!"
Kerr waved with a grin on his face and then sat down on one of the rocks, but Leon was still staring at him.
"...What?"
Kerr asked with a raised eyebrow.
"You’ve been drinking again. We’re attempting the raid tomorrow, and I need everyone at their best."
Leon said coldly.
"It was just a couple of drinks. Those effects will wear off in a couple of hours."
Kerr said with an awkward smile.
"...Hmm."
Leon then turned his gaze away.
"Leon, let’s fight!"
Lock shouted.
With his short frame and light blue hair, it was hard to not notice him in a crowded room—he was Lock Manchester, one of the fastest fighters in the entire tower.
"I already said no."
Leon said with a pissed-off look.
"You’re no fun..."
Lock pouted, but then he smiled and turned towards a cold-looking man at the back, who seemed to want to be left alone.
"Rook, let’s fig—"
"No."
Rook immediately shut him down.
He already knew when he looked at him what he wanted, and he wasn’t at all interested in fighting Lock.
Rook was a brown-haired man with a strong build that you wouldn’t be able to get in a gym, but in a hard-working environment.
His full name was—Rook Rose—and he wasn’t only considered one of the strongest Warriors in all of Black Online, but he was also one of the strongest Dead Redemption members.
"Raizen?"
Lock pleaded with puppy eyes.
Sitting by the campfire, a serious-looking man with buzzcut hair stared silently at the rain without acknowledging him.
Raizen grabbed a stick, pushed one of the burning logs in the campfire, and then turned the roasted rabbit around to also check on the other side.
Fang Raizen—Raon’s older brother—and just like Rook, he was also Warrior, but with a spear as his main weapon.
He had many names—Spear Demon, Spear of Redemption, and Spear of Vengeance—but most simply called him Raizen.
A name that every player in the tower should know, Raizen was said to be the closest man to Leon in terms of strength.
With his frame of two meters, he was one of the tallest players in the tower, and there weren’t many people that could look him in the eye.
"I can fight you, Lock."
Rasmus said with a cold smile.
"...No, thanks."
Lock turned around with a pale face and went elsewhere to play with rocks instead—he suddenly wasn’t in a mood to fight.
"Oh, what a shame."
Rasmus shrugged his shoulders.
He was Rasmus Seider, one of the Rangers of Dead Redemption alongside Kerr, and he was perhaps the most infamous member of Dead Redemption.
When Rangers reach a certain level, they don’t necessarily have to use normal store-bought arrows, but instead they can craft their own arrows.
Rasmus crafts his arrows from the blood of the players.
"...Coffee is ready, Hermes."
Raizen said.
"Ok."
A voice came from the top of the rock formation—over there, someone sat—it was a white-haired young man, as short as Lock, and he had very interesting gray eyes.
Hermes flipped through the pages of his grimoire, as he was in the middle of creating a few new spells, and then he jumped down from the rock formation.
When Mages reached Divine Rank, just like Hermes, they were able to create their very own spells.
He sat down beside Raizen, poured some newly brewed coffee into a cup, and then took a sip of the hot liquid.
"Yue, do you want some?"
Leon asked.
"..."
He spoke towards a woman—who wasn’t with them at the campfire—and was instead sitting by at the cliff.
It was a dangerous place to sit at because with just one wrong move, she could easily fall off.
She was Xiao Yue, and she was an extremely beautiful woman with long blue hair that seemed to resemble a waterfall cascading down her back.
While she was beautiful, she also looked cold, as if she had a heart made of ice, and they had never even seen her smile.
They hadn’t even seen her show a hint of emotion.
"...Okay..."
Leon whispered after getting ignored harshly.
He had a little one-sided crush on Xiao Yue—very one-sided—as she had barely even accepted his existence just yet.
Just like with everybody else.
It was quite a big blow to Leon’s pride and ego because he was the most popular and strongest player in the tower.
Everybody knew about him.
Yet.
She didn’t care.
"I’ll get her some."
Aria poured some coffee into a cup, and she then walked over to Xiao Yue and sat down beside her with a smile on her face.
She offered the cup to her.
Xiao Yue looked over to her, and she then accepted the cup and softly said, "Thank you," and Aria beamed up in response.
Aria started up a conversation with her, and while Xiao Yue didn’t respond to anything, she was clearly listening.
She was Aria Rossie, the Helper of Dead Redemption, and without a doubt the greatest Helper in the entire tower.
She was the only one that could hit up a conversation with Xiao Yue, as they were already partying together before joining Dead Redemption.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Amidst the clicking of heavy armor, a tall woman walked over from her scout post, as she had been keeping an eye on the surroundings so that no one could sneak up on them.
She was Seonwoo Kim—and unlike Xiao Yue, she lacked femininity—she wore heavy armor that would seem too big for any other woman, but she was very muscular, so it fit her quite well.
She also had a large shield on her back and a greatsword strapped to it.
She was completely opposite of Xiao Yue—ugly, harsh-voiced, and built like a troll—which was how she earned her Class Title—Ugly Titan.
However.
She was one of the greatest Tanks in the entire tower.
"Raizen!"
Kerr suddenly shouted.
"..."
Raizen frowned and looked over with a look of "What the hell do you want?" on his face.
"I met your brother."
Kerr said with a smirk.
"...Raikou? So?"
Raizen asked.
"Not Raikou... Your other brother... Fang Raon."
Kerr said.
In that moment, there was an obvious change in Fang Raizen’s facial expression as he looked... disgusted?
"That fucking cripple? Is he rolling around in a wheelchair or what? I expected Black Online to be the last place for him to go to."
Raizen scoffed.
"Cripple? He didn’t look that crippled to me. He walked with both legs and even fought against me, haha."
Kerr laughed.
"He fought you? That’s hard to believe. He is blind."
Raizen said.
"He didn’t look blind to me."
Kerr said.
"...Hmph. Did you kill that bastard then?"
Raizen asked.
"Of course not. He is your brother. So I spared him."
Kerr said.
"You should’ve just killed him. Would’ve spared me from a headache. He is nothing but a useless piece of shit."
Raizen said coldly.
’Ooh, family drama indeed.’
Kerr chuckled to himself.
"Wait... Rook, doesn’t your little sister have a guild? What was the name..."
Kerr snapped his fingers, as it felt like he had that name on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn’t quite remember.
"...Rose Records?"
Rook asked.
"Ah, yes. I think that Raizen’s brother is part of that guild. It means that he knows your little sister. A small world, aye?"
Kerr laughed.
"Sounds like a good fit then. My little sister is useless, spoiled by our grandfather, and she has been gifted everything that she has.
"I had to work for everything, unlike her."
Rook said angrily.
’More family drama, ooh.’
Kerr rubbed his chin with a smile.
’...Fang Raon? Why the hell does that name sound familiar? Ehh, I can’t remember. I feel like I know that name.’
Lock Manchester shrugged his shoulders.
