Chapter 114: I Can

"...You don’t need to bow, team leader. We trust you."

Niall said.

Everyone also echoed his words, and Fang Raon slowly stopped bowing and nodded to them all.

"Thank you. See you all tomorrow. Good job everyone today."

"...Good job, team leader."

They said, and as soon as Fang Raon stepped out of the training room, the Fourth-Liners gathered in a circle.

"Machary, do you think he is speaking the truth?"

Luke asked curiously.

"...Yes, you don’t have to worry. He is a great leader, and I don’t think there is a better person to follow during a raid..."

Machary said.

He still wanted to be team leader himself, but he also knew how good Fang Raon really was, which was why he had to spread lies.

In terms of team leading skills, he knew that he wouldn’t be able to beat Fang Raon, so he had to resort to some underhanded methods.

"...That’s really a relief."

Rae touched her chest and exhaled.

She was pretty nervous about the first raid because of Fang Raon and if he would really try to steal all the treasures for himself.

The rest of the Fourth-Liners looked relieved as well.

...

"Whooh..."

Fang Raon let in a deep breath and walked into his room in the mansion, closing the door behind him.

’I had to do it.’

He thought.

There were several ways he thought about clearing the air with the Fourth-Liners, and this was the best decision he came up with.

’There might’ve been some Fourth-Liners that didn’t quite believe in Machary’s lies, as you cannot just believe a rival of mine blindly.

’They knew that Machary was competing against me, so I am sure few believed that he might’ve lied to make him look bad.

’After a few raids, they would’ve seen that I am nothing like Machary made me out to be, so they would’ve believed even more that he was lying.

’Machary would be ostracized by them, and he would’ve become an outcast, which would’ve been horrible.

’I don’t think Machary would stay in this guild if he became an outcast, and losing someone like him would be a big loss to Rose Records.’

Fang Raon thought to himself.

Thus, he truly believed that he made the best decision to just make those lies true, and that way, everyone would be better off.

’Now...’

Fang Raon took a deep breath, and he opened his system interface.

His gaze lingered at the [Log Out] button, and his throat turned dry, and then he reached his finger towards it.

With a soft press, everything turned dark.

...

The humming of the Virtual Reality Pod stopped, and under his back, he could feel the softness of the padded cushion.

Slowly, he opened his eyes and saw the beautiful light blue glass lid of the pod above him, reflecting his own face.

’Itchy...’

Fang Raon thought as his nose had a little itch, and then he reached out his right hand and scratched it.

In that moment, his eyes widened in surprise, and he looked at his hand in front of his face.

"Ah... Oh my..."

His eyes shook—turning a little watery even—and he then moved each finger individually, as if he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

"...I can... Move..."

He then moved his left arm as well and formed a fist with each hand and then opened them again.

"Hahaha... Ahaha..."

Fang Raon was overjoyed.

This might be the happiest moment of his entire life, as he thought that he would never again be able to move.

He then reached his hand towards the button and opened the glass lid.

"...Come on."

Fang Raon took a deep breath and tried sitting up, and his body slowly moved to an upright position.

He was sitting!

He tried moving his head left and right—it worked—and then he looked at his toes that he hadn’t tried moving yet.

Slowly, he tried moving them.

One toe moved... The second toe moved... The third toe moved...

Soon he was fidgeting all his toes and even moved his feet left and right, and then he pulled his knees to his chest.

"I can actually move all my body..."

Fang Raon was trembling in excitement.

He then slowly climbed out of the Virtual Reality Pod, and stood on his two feet. It felt shaky.

Since this real-world body of his had been lying on the bed for a couple of weeks, he had to slowly adjust to standing and walking again.

’It’s even better than before. Before, I had to use crutches to walk because it was too difficult otherwise.’

Fang Raon thought to himself.

He then tried moving, but he immediately lost his balance and fell forward, but he quickly caught himself against the bed.

"Damn... Let’s try it again..."

He stood back up and slowly moved his left foot... Then right... then left again... And while he looked clumsy, he was genuinely walking!

He managed to walk all the way to the bathroom by himself.

At that moment, light started to pour into the dark room as the door opened.

"Fang Raon?"

It was a familiar voice. Chaewon’s.

She entered the room—didn’t happen to notice the standing Fang Raon—and she then turned on the lights.

While she was at the front lounge, she happened to see that noise activation went off in Fang Raon’s room.

It only meant that something was making noise in his room, and since no other nurse should be going there, she knew that Fang Raon must’ve returned from the game.

In that moment, she looked away from the light switch and stared ahead, and she came across a standing young man.

He was staring at her in surprise.

’Because she always had to help me, I thought that she might be taller than me, but now that I am standing right in front of her, it looks like I am much taller than her....’

"..."

Chaewon’s eyes widened in shock, and her gaze dropped to Fang Raon’s legs, and she noticed that he was standing all on his own.

"I can move now... Surprise..."

Fang Raon said with a wry smile.

In that moment, wet tears fell from Chaewon’s round, cute eyes, and she immediately hugged him tightly.

She was barely reaching his shoulders, and then Fang Raon put his hand down on her head and patted her.
