[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 164: Ch : My Place - Part 2
Shuu would usually not have any problem hearing words like this. It was easy for him to laugh it off and pretend nothing happened. But he did not feel like doing that today.
Today, his heart felt a lot heavier, and it made his mood sour. It was so bad that it even bled into his face, causing Princess Danielle to look surprised.
"Shuu...you-"
"No, you are right. I should not be loitering around like this. I will take my leave now."
Shuu told the princess with a smile on his face. But it did not reach his eyes like it usually did.
In fact, it would not be wrong to say that Shuu’s smile looked hollow, almost as if he had no emotion behind it.
"Shuu, wait-!"
Princess Danielle called out to him, but it was too late. Shuu was already gone, and she felt unsettled. She bit her lip, wondering if she should do something about his mood or not.
But Canarie put a hand on Danielle’s shoulder to grab her attention, and the princess’s attention shifted toward her.
"Hey, is that ex-companion alright? Something felt off about him... I suddenly feel worried about leaving the kids with him. What if he does something to them?"
Lady Canarie was not the sharpest tool in the box, but even she seemed to have felt the change in Shuu. That meant that it was significant enough to warrant Princess Danielle’s attention.
But before that, she needed to clear out some things with Canarie.
"Canarie, do you truly believe you have what it takes to become Emperor Kaiden’s partner and the stepmother of those kids? I have known you for a long time, so I can safely say that you are not really ’mother’ material. So, are you sure about this?"
Princess Danielle asked in a stern voice, and it took Canarie aback. She had not seen her cousin look this serious before in her life.
But she quickly pushed through her shock and gave her cousin a clear answer.
"That is right. I fully intend to be a mother to them...if they will accept me. So please help me out, dear sister. I feel like I am close to my end goal."
Lady Canarie grabbed Princess Danielle’s hand, and the princess sighed in a tired manner.
Truthfully, she no longer wanted to help her cousin or follow her father’s words. But she had burned all other bridges getting this far, so this was the only option left for her to follow.
"Alright. I will arrange for the kids to meet and spend some time with you soon. It would be for the best if you bond with the kids before Emperor Kaiden comes back."
Princess Danielle told Canarie, and her cousin gave the princess a beaming and self-centered smile back.
"You will do that for me? Thank you so much-! I will never forget what you are doing for me."

’How long do I need to keep moving? The corridor is...swaying...’
Shuu blinked as he tried to focus on where he was going. But at this point, his feet were taking him wherever they wanted to.
He felt like he had no control over his movement, and his head throbbed, indicating that he was starting to get a headache.
Shuu rubbed his forehead to try and get rid of the pain, but it did not help. It just made the situation even worse for him as he pushed through his jumbled feelings.
It all felt like it was too much. The walls around him threatened to crush him under their weight, and his vision was blurring. It felt like he was present at the place and not at the same time.
His blurry world had a few spots of dark figures, but they walked out of his way long before he reached them. He wanted to reach out to them, but their whispers stopped him cold and made him retreat.
"Tsk, he looks bad. Do you think we should help him out-?"
"No way-! What if you get cursed as well? He’s someone who’s cursed by the Goddess, so we better not interact with him much."
"The fact that both him and Emperor Kaiden are refusing to follow the Goddess’s will is all his fault. Ugh, he’s a disaster in human form."
The faces of those speaking around Shuu were not too clear, but the voices were clear. And they were jabbing like swords into Shuu’s heart.
’It is not my fault-! Stop blaming me...!’
Shuu wanted to shout out loud, but the words got stuck in his throat.
He had never had thoughts like these before, and even he was shocked at the intensity of them. He tried to open his mouth, only to close it the next second as he suddenly felt the presence of eyes on him.
"Tsk, he looks like he’s about to collapse. Should someone not help him out?"
One of the servants asked, but whatever reply the others gave him never reached Shuu’s ears before he walked out of the range of those voices.
He somehow dragged himself to his room and threw himself on the bed. The soft mattress greeted Shuu, and he allowed his body to sink into the comfort of familiarity.
The kids were out right now, likely being taken care of by the maids, and Shuu missed them. He wanted to be with them and not be alone.
But he also did not want to ask the maids to bring the kids to him. He was also not sure if he could trust the maids.
Even if they were under Princess Danielle’s command and she had been nothing but kind to him, a part of Shuu reminded him that he should not take her kindness at face value and should keep tabs on her.
But it was all so exhausting.
"Should I...bring the kids back and dismiss the maids? I am sure I would be able to take care of the kids just fine myself..."
Shuu spoke to himself, but only silence greeted him as an answer. Ultimately, he closed his eyes and decided to fall asleep.
