[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 140: Ch : The Prisoners
"Stop right there. What are you doing? This place is off-limits to normal people. I will have to detain you if you continue to come here without permission."
The guard warned Elysia, but she did not stop. She continued to walk until she was in front of the startled guard and then pulled her hood back.
"Don’t worry. I am here just to take a quick look. I will not do anything else. I promise."
Lady Elysia spoke with a soft voice, and she reached out to touch the guard at the same time. Her hand lightly touched the guard, and the guard staggered.
The sudden wave of dizziness startled the guard, and he blinked with a stunned look.
"It seems like you are much more tired than you appear. Perhaps a small nap would do you well."
Lady Elysia’s soft voice reached the dazed guard, and he looked up at her. She appeared like an angel in his eyes, with her halo behind her and a soft smile on her face.
Just looking at that face filled the guard with a sense of calm and a desire to do as she had asked him to do. The sudden urge was too much, and the guard felt his mind slipping slowly.
"I...have a duty to..."
"Don’t worry. I know that you have a duty to do, and I will do that in your stead. For now, you can just close your eyes and go to sleep."
Lady Elysia assured him, and the guard blinked and lost the battle against sleep.
Once the guard was taken care of, Lady Elysia straightened herself and slipped into the prison.
There were other guards around, but she already had an artefact that would make sure she would not be discovered.
With the help of that, she quickly made her way to the cage where the maids were being kept, and she knocked at the door to get their attention.
The maids looked startled, and their eyes turned toward her fearfully.
"W-We don’t know what happened. W-We were just ordered, and we did as we were asked to. P-Please, believe us. We did not know anything..."
They all cried as they looked outside toward Elysia, but their cries went unheard by everyone.
Even Elysia did not give them more than one glance. But unlike others, she also had a question to ask them. So she decided to fake her gentleness when she talked to these maids.
"Don’t worry. I am here to help you out. But first, can you tell me what happened and why you accepted this job?"
She asked the maids, and they all looked at each other with hesitation.
They had all repeated the same story a few times up until now, but no one had believed them. They doubted that they would be believed now either.
But still, they decided to speak.
"W-We were just doing our job when a-all of a sudden, a light flashed in front of our eyes and a figure appeared. We c-cannot recall what that figure looked like, but I do recall his words clearly. He wanted us to ’gift’ Companion Shuu something, and we were not able to refuse. The next thing we knew, we were in that room and-"
The maid broke out in a sob as she recalled her story. The shock of what happened was too great for her to remain composed.
The other maids tried to help the one who spoke, but misery coated their faces as well.
’Tsk, in the end, these maids are of no use. They have clearly betrayed my god and deserve no help.’
Elysia’s smile remained professional and sympathetic on the outside, but she had already mentally abandoned these maids.
"P-Please help us get out of here. W-We were framed. We did not know what we were doing-"
"Shhh, I heard your voices. And I will do what I need to in order to help you out."
Elysia fake-promised the maids, and they all smiled at her words.
"A-Alright, we will wait for your help. But please, hurry-!"
Elysia stood up, but before she left, she threw a small ball. It started to dissolve as soon as it touched the ground, and the maids started to cough.
"W-What-! My throat...cough
wheeze
"N-No-!"
Elysia ran out quickly as the maids suffocated. She also made sure to drag that one unconscious guard toward the cell as well.
Due to her artefact, any traces of her being there would be erased. And with the guard taken care of as well, there was no one left to cause her trouble.
It was a disheartening trip, but Elysia did not feel like that.
In fact, she felt even more determined than before, and a small smile was plastered on her face.
’My god finally has enough strength to start materializing. Soon, he will be able to return, and I will become his first and most beloved soldier.’

Shuu was not supposed to be out this far from the imperial castle, but he had followed Caelis and Rin as they played. And this was where they wanted to come.
"Caelis, you should slow down. We are out of the safe grounds. I don’t want anything to happen to you or Rin-"
Shuu followed the kids and tried to catch them, but they were too fast for him.
He was about to sigh and give up when he suddenly felt a weird feeling. He felt as if someone was looking at him, and it made him turn around to look.
But there was no one behind him, which made him feel a little odd.
’How weird. I swear I felt someone looking at me. Did I imagine...!’
"Shuu-! Guards..."
Caelis loudly yelled so that Shuu would realize what was happening as well. And Shuu immediately looked in the direction Caelis was pointing toward, only to see a group of guards gathered around a place.
But they were not alone. Nero was there as well, and he looked frustrated.
"Shuu...Nero...! Look?"
Caelis asked, and without any input from Shuu, the child decided to head toward Nero. Shuu had no choice but to follow him.
