The smile slipped from Lady Elysia’s face at that announcement. Her eyes turned cold and she turned her marked arm toward the Princess.

"Excuse me, Princess, but are you saying that this mark is a fake one? Are you going to be firm about your words, no matter the outcome?"

Lady Elysia asked, and Princess Danielle felt a hint of suspicion and fear at that bold claim.

She had not doubted her father about anything, but knowing his obsession with power and influence, it would not be too far-fetched to fake all of this.

But still, this was a diplomatic issue and needed to be treated carefully...

"We cannot make a decision about such a thing on our own. I will ask my father to send the person he found as well. Once we have you both here, we can check with the temple about the validity of your claims."

Princess Danielle proclaimed, and Lady Elysia smiled.

"Do what you want to. I know I am telling the truth. Emperor Kaiden, you feel it as well, right? Our bond-"

She tried to reach for Emperor Kaiden’s hand, only for him to grab her wrist and twist it.

Lady Elysia yelped in pain and immediately clutched her bruised wrist.

"Don’t you dare touch me with your hands. The only one allowed to touch me is Shuu."

Speaking of Shuu, he was watching this all happen from the sidelines. His eyes were cold and it seemed impossible to be able to tell what he was currently thinking about.

Everyone turned to look at him, but Shuu looked unfazed by all the eyes looking at him.

"I will be with the kids back in my room. You all can discuss the important stuff here."

He turned around to leave and Emperor Kaiden immediately turned to follow after him.

"Shuu, wait a minute. You do know that this is not my fault or choice, right...? Danielle, take care of this mess for now. I don’t want to see anyone like her here again...! Shuu-"

Emperor Kaiden turned to look at Princess Danielle with a dark look on his face. He had not acknowledged this situation in any way and his dark eyes made the Princess pause and look back at him with an almost concerned look.

But she turned her attention back to the current problem at hand, which was Lady Elysia.

"Lady Elysia, please return back to your estate. There has been no decision made regarding your presence and the Emperor has refused to acknowledge your presence here as well."

Princess Danielle felt a sudden headache threatening to take her over. And as expected, the cause of it did nothing to help her out.

"I will not leave and you cannot make me. The God has chosen me officially and I will honor the position given to me by him. I will go to the temple and cause a scene if you make me head back now."

Lady Elysia declared, and Princess Danielle cursed her inside her mind.

’You bastard lady-! Do you even know what you are saying...? Ugh...’

The dignity of the royal family was at stake here, so Princess Danielle had no other choice but to agree with allowing her entry into the imperial palace.

"Fine. I will show you to your temporary room for now. But if you cause even a single mess, then I will have you thrown out."

Princess Danielle warned Lady Elysia, but it did not seem as if Lady Elysia minded. In fact, she had stopped listening to the Princess even.

"Here, this will be your room."

The wing given to Lady Elysia was outside the main wing and it was usually reserved for the palace workers. But despite that, Lady Elysia did not seem to mind and gave Princess Danielle a small smile.

"This room is more than enough. I can bear any hardship if it is for my god."

She firmly believed this, and Princess Danielle shuddered as she looked at Lady Elysia’s eyes. They were dark and filled with unknown desire.

"Just stay in your lane. Nothing has been decided yet. So don’t try anything foolish."

She warned before she went back to her room. Princess Danielle suddenly had a lot she needed to write to her father about. The situation had turned strange and she no longer knew what to do about it.

"Shuu, you know that this is not my choice, right? Should I kill her to show you that I don’t care about her-? Shuu-?"

Shuu finally stopped walking and he stood in front of his room’s door.

His mind felt blank and any thought that came to his mind immediately halted in favor of maintaining his sanity.

All Shuu wanted to do was be alone at this moment and not think about what happened. But it was very difficult to do when the cause of all this mess continued to follow after him like this.

"Shuu, stop running, please."

Strong arms wrapped themselves around Shuu’s middle and pulled him into a semi-hug. The familiar feeling made Shuu want to relax and push himself against these arms.

But he stopped himself from doing this at the last possible moment and maintained his coldness.

Seeing how Shuu was not even responding to him made Emperor Kaiden whine even more.

"Kaiden, how about you give me some space? I just need time to think-"

"No way. I know you quite well. If I give you any more time to think, then you will try to run away from me. And I will not allow you to do that."

Shuu felt his anger melting at those words.

From what he had seen so far, it was clear that Emperor Kaiden had no choice or impact in what was happening. But that did not make Shuu feel better.

Still, if the Emperor was not going to leave him alone, what could he even do about it at the moment? Nothing.

"Fine, come in for now. Would you like to have some tea?"

He had no idea how long he would be able to live in the imperial castle for, but he did want to make the best out of his time left here.
