Chapter 312: 312: Imperial Military Academy

Helen was still laughing while Eden stared, confused.

"Don’t get me wrong at all. I don’t like you, so don’t misunderstand at all. Okay?" She smiled.

Eden guessed he was relieved. "That’s good then."

She smiled. "What I mean is, you’re the wizard. You have powers. I’ve always admired that. And I’ve always looked for ways to be under your rule so you could help me get my revenge and all..."

Eden slowly nodded. "Oh, yeah, that makes sense. Don’t worry, if we crack the puzzle and find those behind it, I’ll make sure I help you take them down," he assured.

"Really?" Helen was surprised at how fast that went.

"Yeah. I mean, you helped me when I was stuck in the woods. So I want to help. And again, I’m tired of seeing people in power walk all over the poor. So anything as scandalous as taking down the Empire, I’d happily get involved," he smirked.

"Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it," Helen expressed.

"Don’t mention it. We’re friends from now on. So we help each other get what we want when needed," he smiled at her.

Helen smiled back. "Friends. I think you’re my official one. A friend," she expressed.

Eden blinked and then smiled. "That’s interesting then. My dear friend."

She laughed. "Sure. My friend. Let’s help each other more."

They laughed while Lenny lay there by the side, sleeping. He heard all they said but didn’t bother getting involved.

"So why are you going to the Imperial Military Academy?" she asked.

"I have to find someone there. Urgently," he explained.

"Oh. I hope you find the person then," she said.

He smiled. "Thanks."

They arrived at the Imperial City and made it through the gates.

Soon, they arrived at the house Adrian had prepared for them. It was one which was in the midst of other local houses, so they wouldn’t appear suspicious at all.

Eden and the rest settled in and unpacked their stuff.

They discussed over dinner that night. They made plans on how things would go from tomorrow and where they’d be going.

"I’ll be going with you to the academy. I don’t know how possible that would be," she said.

"Are you sure? It’s not going to be easy. I mean..."

She smiled. "Did you forget that I already got martial training from Adrian? So I’m more than ready to join a military academy."

Eden slowly nodded. "Okay then. If you think you’re ready, then why not? I’ll fake our name plaques, and then we’ll make our way in tomorrow. I heard tomorrow is when the last batch of newbies comes in."

"Yes. Tomorrow we naturally join them as well."

"What about your investigation? You won’t get to do it if you come with me," Eden asked her.

She shook her head. "We can do it after you’re done with yours or something. Then you’d be in a free position to help me better. Besides, we’re still in the same city, so we can do both from time to time," she explained.

Eden nodded. "Makes sense then."

And so they decided on that and continued their meal. Afterwards, they retired to their rooms and prepared themselves for the adventures that awaited them from the next day.

The two got up early and made preparations. They got into their casual attire, the kind that made them look like poor peasants in the city—those fitting for joining the military.

And so they made their way to the venue of the Military Academy.

The entrance was bustling with people. An exquisite view of statues, warriors, and tigers was built toward the entrance, and then the gate, which was built with gold—big and grand-looking. It sure was an Imperial Academy.

There were lots of people standing there. Some who were there to enroll, and some parents or guardians who came with them. Soldiers and guards were also standing there to keep order.

Helen and Eden stood at a distance, monitoring all that was happening. They took note of how everyone had their name plaques and registration papers.

These were given to them after they passed all rounds of exams needed to join the Imperial Military Academy. Helen and Eden had nothing.

"So... how are we going to get that exactly?" Eden asked.

"I think we’re pretty much going to make one," Eden smiled. And he did make it.

He magically made two plaques and document papers appear in his hands, bearing their names: Eden and Helen.

After he was done, he handed them to Helen.

"It seems they’re cross-checking it with their registrar’s file over there. I don’t think we’re registered," Helen explained.

"Don’t worry, I’ve already handled that," he winked at her. "Let’s go."

She didn’t ask further questions. She trusted him, so they made their way to get registered.

The man took their plaques and paperwork and went through them. He nodded after seeing that they were authentic, and then he began going through the list of names in his book.

He went on and on before he got to the last page and saw their names neatly written there with the others.

The man looked up at Eden and Helen as the two of them flashed him a smile.

"Can we go in now?" Eden asked.

The man hesitated before he nodded. He marked their names and took their documents, handing them their plaques. "You can go in now."

Eden smiled. "Thanks, Sir. Keep up the good work."

He was about to go in when the man asked him, "Is having silver hair allowed here?"

Eden paused and turned to him. "Huh?"

"I thought everyone was told to dye their hair black," the man questioned.

Eden blinked. He turned and looked into the academy and saw some other people with other hair colors.

Then he stared at the man. "But others don’t seem to all have black hair. So... why?"

The man scoffed. "Are you questioning me? A newbie like you?"

"I need a logical explanation, at least. Because I don’t want to believe only the poor get to follow this absurd rule. Is it?"
