(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 140: Accused
"Haruki won’t let him suffer any injustice," his father said hopefully.
Hearing his father try to assure him with something his father did not even sound persuaded about, he wanted to walk out of the office but he knew they had to think of something together.
"I just hope Haruki did not give the order to get him locked up. If they can persuade Haruki that Hiroshi was behind it, I don’t think it is right for us to depend on Haruki alone," Aki said with a sigh as he tried to calm himself down.
With every attempt, he seemed to fail because he knew it would be challenging to rescue his brother if those people made up their minds to kill him. He could not depend on the country’s justice system because it would be a futile attempt against someone as powerful as Haruki.
He could also not fight against them directly. He could not hire anyone as powerful as Ren and his men.
"Is there a way you can get me to meet Hiroshi?" he asked as he settled down in the chair.
Aki watched his father’s shoulder slump and his expression sag. It was obvious the man was so close to losing hope.
The thought that his father who had worked with the Yugen holding chairmen for two generations could not be certain that he could save his son, was sad to watch.
Aki thought of his position as Haruki’s friend perhaps that would help him get Hiroshi from them or ensure that they don’t kill him even with evidence pointing at him. Haruki however, was not in the country.
He sighed and leaned against the backrest finally understanding why his father seemed to have lost all hope. He could feel hope slipping away from him with every attempt to think of a way out.
He was wealthy but not up to one tenth of Haruki’s wealth and he was powerless. He might have lost contact and friends among the powerful in Europe but he had no power in his own home country.
He sighed.
"I think we should think of a way to get me to speak to Hiroshi. Perhaps when I do, we could find a way to prove his innocence," Aki said because that was the only hope that didn’t make him feel helpless.
With his proven innocence, there was no way Haruki would kill Hiroshi or hold him for a crime he committed. He was more than ready to go on his knees to beg for his brother’s life but without his proven innocence, it would be a lot harder. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"Could you meet with him instead then?" Aki asked seriously.
"I could do something about it. I met him yesterday and he was a bit injured," Aki’s father did not see the need to hide that anymore after all, Aki knew his brother had been abducted already.
"How injured?" Aki asked sitting up. The tension that was beginning to dissipate rapidly increased. If they had already hurt his brother, then perhaps they had enough evidence they needed.
"A gunshot wound to his leg. He was in a bad shape when I met him yesterday," Dr Yamamoto began to pour out his worries now that he had someone to share them with. He had been bottling it up since yesterday and he could not share it with just anyone.
"We have a perfect reason to get to him then. I will leave it to you. I will travel to Haruki. I will try to persuade him to forgive his brother even without evidence while you try to find the evidence with his brother."
Hearing these words, Dr Yamamoto sighed. Aki could guess that his father did not believe that would help. Aki however, trusted the friendship he had with Haruki in the past.
He trusted that Haruki would not ignore him even when he goes on his knees and kowtows or if he could, offer his life instead of his brother’s.
"That’s the best option I have. Is there something else you suggest we could do? I can’t get to Haruki right now so the best option is to go there to find him."
Dr Yamamoto could only nod to the words of his son. For the first time in his life, he got to see how powerless he was. He was also ready to beg for his son’s life.
With a plan now on their mind, Aki walked out of the office purposefully.

"I am going to give you an option, either you tell me who could be behind it or someone else will get the answer from you," Ren said tiredly leaning against the backrest of the chair as he watched Hiroshi.
"I told you I don’t know," Hiroshi met his gaze as he tried to push himself off the bed.
Even without knowledge of time in this room, Hiroshi was certain that it had been almost a week since he last saw sunlight or ate anything.
His fingers trembled his bones weakened by the lack of substance couldn’t support him up. The only thing that he had to consume was the water flowing from the sink in the bathroom. That was perhaps the only reason he hadn’t died of thirst.
"I thought you brought me here to torture me? Hiroshi asked seriously. Aside from the gunshot wound, he had not gotten any other physical injury from them and he was wondering why the man hadn’t used the tools he brought in the day he woke up in this place.
"I think you’ve endured the torture better than I thought you would," Ren said as he rose up. "A lot of people in the tech industries suffered a lot of loss thanks to the leaked videos. Many of them had to apologise to their customers for the inconvenience."
Hiroshi nodded, he could easily guess what the man was getting at.
"If I release you, I am certain someone else will lock you up and when they do that, they won’t be half as hospitable as I have tried to be so far. They won’t be needing answers like me, they will be needing someone to pay for the loss they suffered. You can imagine how they will make you pay."
Hiroshi was sure that if someone as crazy as Ren decided to make him pay for the damages done, they would most likely simply kill him in the most painful way possible to vent their anger.
It might not be easy for them to abduct him though. He was not without protection and the only reason his lawyer didn’t intervene was because he didn’t give him the signal to and the person they were dealing with was his employer.
Hiroshi rolled his eyes and turned away exhausting a large portion of the energy he barely had. "If you want to release me, don’t hold back."
Hiroshi knowing he could not be easily kidnapped by anyone else, hoped Ren would listen to his words and release him. That would give him the chance to investigate a bit before Haruki returns.
"If you die, the secret you hold will die along with you and I don’t like that."
Hiroshi remained silent. He didn’t want to talk because speaking had become such a difficult task with the hunger he felt.
"Oh, right. Your father has been showing up here daily for the past few days now and he wants to check the dressing on your wound. I told him you’ve been doing it yourself and the wound is healing normally."
Hearing those words, Hiroshi didn’t burn any more energy to turn to the man as he listened. He wondered if the man said it as a threat using his father or if he was only informing him. He closed his eyes as his weak body sank into the bed.
It was obvious that the man was trying to kill him slowly. He only hoped he would get help soon enough to escape the death that seemed to loom around him. The moment he loses the strength to walk to the bathroom to get water from the sink, he will die of hunger and thirst.
He listened to Ren’s footsteps as he walked out of the room. He closed his eyes and a small sigh escaped his lips. How he missed Haruki.
Every passing second in this concrete box reminded him of the warmth of Haruki’s embrace, the softness of his voice when he murmurs goodnight, the gentle yet dominant scent of the man filling his nose, his beautiful face and lovely smile, although very rarely seen.
As he drifted back to sleep, he thought of how much he loved Haruki. He thought of whether Haruki believed he was behind it all, he hoped that even if everyone else disbelieves him, Haruki trusted him.

Haruki opened the door and walked in before changing his shoes. He picked up his black leather shoes and placed them in the cabinet. Hiroshi must be asleep considering it was almost midnight meaning he had to put away his shoes himself.
It had come to him as a habit to leave the shoes if Hiroshi was with him and to put them away if Hiroshi was away.
As he stepped into the living room and turned on the lights, he paused and stared around. The scene along with a familiar nagging feeling told him the owner of the apartment was not home.
