(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 138: Taken
Hiroshi shivered as he opened his eyes. He was burning up but chill which came with headache and pain all over his being accompanied by it. He groaned looking at the constantly flickering orange bulb hanging down from the concrete ceiling directly above his head.
At least they were humane enough to give him a bed and a blanket. The smell of disinfectant and the feeling of his leg wrapped in a bandage told him they had treated the wound.
He carefully pushed the blanket away from his body and sat up. He avoided opening the wound on his leg or pulling at the IV on his hand. He looked around the spacious, concrete room, which felt like a box, and flinched when his feet touched the cold, bare, smooth concrete floor.
It was so cold he wanted so badly to curl back into the warmth of the blanket that although not as thick as the one he had at home, it was still better than none and provided much-needed warmth. However, he had to use the restroom urgently.
He carefully pulled out the needle in the back of his hand and applied pressure on the spot to prevent bleeding. There were three doors in the room and no windows, he could easily guess he was underground.
When he tried to stop the bleeding in the elevator, he noticed the bullet hadn’t hit a bone but had struck a major artery. He was knocked out with a gun at the back of his head soon after. He was already losing consciousness then from the amount of blood he lost anyway.
From the three doors, he couldn’t guess which of them the restroom was so he rose up with a wince to find out. He started from the door closest to the bed. With a push and pull while turning the handle of the door repeated several times, the door wouldn’t budge so he could only look at the other doors left.
Resting against the wall, he limped to put most of his weight on his uninjured leg as he moved to the next door. He turned the handle of the cold metal door and pushed but pulling didn’t open it.
The door opened and he came face-to-face with Ren. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Oh, you’re awake," Ren said monotonously with bone bone-chilling smile and a slight smirk across his lips.
"I need to use the restroom," Hiroshi replied having no need for a conversation with the man as he noticed Ren pull out a bunch of keys from the keyhole of the door.
"Over there, that’s the restroom," Ren directed, pointing at the door farthest from the bed.
Hiroshi sighed tiredly and turned away ignoring the tray Ren wheeled into the room after himself. He had seen the tools displayed on the tray but since using the restroom was his priority at the moment, he continued forward ignoring the sound of the rolling wheels.
The door responded as soon as he turned the handle. He limped into the neat white tiled restroom.
Ren noticed Hiroshi glance at the tray but he didn’t notice a change in Hiroshi’s expression before he turned away. It was as though the man had given up and didn’t care about what would be done to him because he was already expecting the worst.
He looked around before turning on the fluorescent lights in the room brightening it.
Hiroshi stepped out of the restroom although he wished he could just stay in there for longer. He knew the man would not hesitate to open the door or break it down if he tried to. Just as he expected, the bathroom had no windows, so he could not escape easily.
He limped slowly to the bed and sat down. Ignoring Ren who had brought a chair in and sat down, he sat down on the bed and lay on it casually before pulling the blanket over his body.
He glanced at the almost empty IV fluid bag and he didn’t bother to continue. "For how long have you been asleep?" Hiroshi asked as he adjusted his head on the pillow until he was comfortable.
Ren ignored his question. Hiroshi was without his wristwatch, his phone or any technological device.
They were leaving him without any sense of time and even though the hallway behind Ren when he opened the door earlier was brightly lit just like the room was now, he could not use that to estimate what time of the day it was.
"I am hungry, is it possible for me to get something to eat?" Hiroshi asked. He had been hungry before he left work as he wanted to eat dinner at home. He tried to use his hunger and the food they would serve him to estimate it.
He could easily guess that it was the next day but he was not sure what time of the day it was or it could be two days later. His request fell on deaf ears again.
"I thought things through Hiroshi and I came to the conclusion that there’s no way you’re the master mind behind the audio leak," Ren said sincerely as he crossed his legs and leaned his back comfortably on the seat.
"That’s useless to say because I don’t have anything to do with the audio," Hiroshi who wanted to remain silent at first found himself responding to the man’s words.
"I was recorded with your phone," Ren replied firmly a trace of anger in his voice.
"What do I benefit from doing that to Haruki?" Hiroshi asked. He could not make sense of the man’s rage directed at him.
"Probably death. That is why I will give you some hours to think about anyone close to you who might have cloned your phone and hacked it or hacked it," Ren replied as he uncrossed his legs and stood up.
"I have no one of that sort around me and if anything, I think you should try to find out with the phone in your custody," Hiroshi replied. Ren had the phone with him. It will be easiest for them to find who did it and what they had done compared to those his lawyer hired.
Ren walked to the tray and began wheeling it out of the room. After pushing it out, he walked back into the room and folded his arms as he looked down at Hiroshi on the bed.
"I want you to be very smart. I will find out the truth I need from you. I will give you some hours to come to terms with the position you’re in. Protecting anyone will be very detrimental to your survival."
"I am hungry," Hiroshi voiced his discomfort without paying attention to the man’s threat.
There was something else he didn’t want to think of, something he didn’t want to focus on. A part of him still wondered what had happened. A part of him wanted to know what Haruki thought of the evidence but deep down he was scared of finding out.
None of those tools the man had wheeled out of the room would be able to hurt him as much as that would. He chose to ignore the nagging feeling and focus on the hunger he felt.
"I will be back soon." With these words said, Ren walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.
He had no food, no change of clothes, and no water except for the water running in the bathroom. They could have cut it off if they wanted to leave him without water but they chose to leave it running.
It was as though they wanted to drink from the bathroom if he didn’t want to die of thirst. He had no more drugs to use even when his wound showed signs of infection causing him to feel a bit feverish.
He sighed and raised his hand to massage his temples. Haruki. He ignored the name and made it a taboo to think or speak of while locked up. He could not include emotional pain in the amount of pain he felt.
He had to think of who might have had access to his phone to clone or hack in during the past few weeks. The more he thought of it, the angrier he became with himself. He was the reason the audio got circulated and he felt like he could understand Ren’s anger.
Lost in his thoughts, he finally passed out. His sleep felt very uncomfortable as he kept drifting in and out of sleep. When he finally opened his eyes, he felt a pulsating headache so painful that it made him curl into a fetal position on the bed.
He groaned as he made an attempt to sit up but his body refused to respond. Sighing in defeat, he closed his eyes and begged for sleep to take him from the pain he felt. His eyes drifted to the left over IV fluid and he regretted not finishing the dose over his urge to use the restroom.
After several pleas to his dreamland, his eyelids finally closed and this time, he slept peacefully and longer. It was a dreamless sleep as his dreamland provided him with the quietness his pained brain deserved.
