(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 103: A scapegoat?
Chapter 103: A scapegoat?
As his car approached the gate of his family’s house, he saw someone standing there. At first, he didn’t pay much attention thinking it was one of the boys. It was uncommon for anyone to loiter at the gate of his house so if someone was there, it could be one of his men.
But he looked up from the screen of his tablet once again, as they got closer, it was Katoro. He could remember telling Ren clearly to keep that man away from the house. He could not hold back a frown.
The gate opened and Katoro was let in. Haruki’s brow furrowed further as he set aside the tablet no longer uninterested in the chart on the screen. As the gates opened for his car to drive in, he saw Katoro talking to Ren at the gate.
It confused him as he narrowed his gaze before stepping out of the car. Ren turned to him and bowed deeply. Katoro bowed to and walked away almost immediately.
Haruki could not help but feel this was simply pure disrespect considering he had given an order to keep Katoro out of his sight but Ren decided to act on his own perhaps not thinking he meant his words.
Haruki sighed wondering if he had ever said something so seriously and not meant it. What he felt the moment was pure unfiltered rage both to Ren and the bold young man.
A cold smile lifted the corners of his lips he felt a strong urge to laugh, It seems he has finally found someone to vent all his bottled-up anger on. He raised his finger and gestured to Ren with his index finger.
Ren approached him and bowed slightly before raising his head with the confidence he usually showed Haruki with only a slight trace of subordination as his gaze met Ren’s.
Haruki sighed and with his fist clenched, he took in a deep breath and said, "Call him over."
Ren had offended him by disobeying an order but Katoro had already made himself into an eyesore to Haruki considering he had never seen his mentor act this way with anyone.
Ren acted pretty normally as though he had not done anything wrong and that was what made Haruki displeased. No apology, no explanation like Katoro had the right to go in and out of his house regardless of Haruki’s previous order.
Ren’s eyes widened as he turned towards the gate that had long closed and Katoro was gone. "He is gone," Ren stated the obvious.
"Bring him over. I don’t care where he went," Haruki ordered calmly. He wondered what Ren would do. Would he disobey his orders again over Kataro? So many thoughts were on his mind as he waited for a response.
"I will bring him over," Ren received the order without argument and turned to leave.
"I will meet him after my dinner and work out," Haruki said calmly. Almost too calmly and those who knew Haruki well felt a cold breeze blow towards them at that statement.
Kiyoshi looked around knowing they might have to call a clean-up team but he sincerely hoped it would only involve a doctor so he could call Dr. Yamamoto over considering Ren was involved and Katoro’s death did not seem like something Haruki should cause to punish Ren.
Ren disobeyed orders, he deserved punishment but he held a strong position in the family and casually punishing him didn’t sound like a good idea But Katoro could be the sacrificed scapegoat goat but that also did not sound good to Kiyoshi as he followed Haruki who had unhurriedly entered the main building.
When Haruki went to clean up after work, Kiyoshi went to find Ren. Ren was in his quarters so he went there and knocked on the door. "Do you have a moment?" Kiyoshi asked as soon as the door was opened. freёwebnoѵel.com
"Yes, what do you want?" Ren asked with his tone significantly cold.
"I guess you know what you did wrong. I think you should apologise," Kiyoshi went straight to the point.
Ren was silent for a few seconds. When he opened his mouth to speak, someone coughed from behind the slightly opened door. He calmly met Kiyoshi’s gaze as though he had not heard it.
"Are you going to do that?" Kiyoshi asked seriously as he felt his frustration build up over Ren’s silence.
"I will think about it."
"What time do you have to think about it?"
"You do not have the time to concern yourself over my matters," Ren said and moved backwards.
Seeing that he wanted to close the door, Kiyoshi stopped him, "Do you even know what you did wrong? How could you bring someone who tried to kill Haruki into the house and let him roam about? After getting warned you still let him in when Haruki arrived."
"I know what I did wrong," Ren cleared his throat and replied.
"Then apologise."
"I will handle my matters," Ren replied coldly and closed the door.
Kiyoshi shook his head exasperated.
Haruki called Ren over when he was done with all he had to do.
"Katoro came over to deliver a message. He still works for the family and would have to run some errands occasionally."
Haruki raised his head to meet the gaze of the older man and could not hold back a frown. "How do you feel now that he keeps trying to get into my bed or is this your intention?" Haruki asked seriously as soon as the thought came to his mind.
"He only tried it once," Ren did not hesitate to correct Haruki.
"But that once is enough reason for me to end his life," Haruki said as a matter of fact. "So, your plan was to have him everywhere I was, to what? Make me take him back as boy toy?"
Ren remained silent not accepting or rejecting Haruki’s words.
"I guess your silence means you agree with what I said. What makes you think I would want to sleep with the man who tried to kill me?"
"I will find someone else," Ren finally spoke. "If Katoro isn’t good enough, I will find someone who is, someone who didn’t stab you."
Haruki finally understood the reason behind Ren’s actions, leaned back as he looked at the man thoughtfully before shaking his head and reaching for a glass of water.
"I don’t think what you have with the doctor is wise."
"Oh, you should have told me that rather than trying to set me up with someone who tried to kill me, what makes you think I will find him attractive?"
Haruki feeling tired and losing the will to continue the conversation, rose up and stretched a bit. "I was hoping for a bit of exercise but since you are not interested, I will just go to bed."
"I can still spar with you, if that’s what you want," Ren offered.
"I am still angry with you and I am sure you know you’ve gotten older. I need a reason to break one of your bones. I don’t want Katoro around the house anymore. Give him a job in the entertainment industry or send him back to school. Just keep him away from me."
Having someone who reminded him of Shinya around would be a bad idea and that was not all Katoro was, the young man was also the person who stabbed him.
"I will handle that immediately, however, I am not old," Ren not only accepted Haruki’s order, but also corrected him. "And I still don’t think you should be with the doctor," Ren called out when Haruki began walking away.
