Chapter 381: Chapter 381: Bachelor Night, Bound by Love

~Zayn’s POV~

When I finally looked up, Evric was standing there, silhouetted against the dim light. He didn’t wait for an invitation; he stepped inside and closed the door behind him, his eyes finding mine with an intensity that pinned me to the spot.

He crossed the room in silence, his footsteps heavy and purposeful. He sat on the edge of the bed, the mattress sinking under his weight. Without saying a word, he reached out and gently took the hem of my shirt, lifting it up to expose my skin. His warm palm settled against my stomach, rubbing in slow, soothing circles that sent a much-needed wave of calm through me.

He leaned in close, his breath warm against my ear. "I’ve been calling you," he murmured, his voice low and vibrating. "Why aren’t you picking up?" He lifted his head and kissed my navel, slow and tender.

I looked at him, my eyes still stinging. "Aren’t you angry that I was ignoring you?"

"I was," Evric admitted, his thumb moving in slow, soothing circles against my skin. "But I understand how you feel. I know why it matters so much to you, to see your parents stand in the same room and look at each other on our day."

Evric sighed, his thumb tracing a slow, absent-minded path across my skin. "It’s not wrong to want that, Zayn. Your heart is too good, that’s the problem. You want to heal everyone, but some wounds need more than a wedding to close up."

He leaned down, pressing his forehead against mine. "I’m sorry for calling you selfish. I was frustrated because I hate seeing you carry this burden. You’re trying to be the bridge for two people who aren’t ready to walk across it yet. Baby, let’s slow down and give them time beyond our wedding. They’re adults, and they can work through this on their own."

Hearing the gentleness in his voice, the tension coiled in my chest finally gave way. I sat up suddenly and wrapped my arms around his neck, clinging to him as if he were the only thing keeping me grounded.

"Babe, I’m not selfish," I murmured against his shoulder clutching him tighter as my voice trembled. "I care about my mother’s feelings more than you know. I didn’t ask her to forgive him. I was just trying to—"

Before I could finish, Evric gently pulled back and pressed a single finger to my lips, silencing me as his gaze softened.

"It’s okay," he said quietly, halting my rushed words. "You don’t need to explain anything to me, Zayn. Just listen to me now, and trust what I’m about to say."

I looked into his dark eyes and felt my resolve melt. I took a shaky breath and nodded. "Okay, babe."

"When I came in just now," Evric said softly, his voice calm and reassuring, "I saw your parents sitting across from each other. It looks like they’re already trying, Zayn, finding their own way to work through this."

He turned to me fully, his hand tightening around mine. "I need you to promise me one thing. Unless your mother chooses to tell you herself what they talked about, don’t ask her. This has to be her decision, made in her own time."

His gaze warmed, filled with quiet certainty. "I promise you this, on our wedding day, they’ll both be there. And they’ll be smiling for you."

I felt a weight lift off my shoulders at his words. "I understand," I murmured.

"You’ve done so well, Zayn," he praised, brushing a stray hair from my forehead. "You’ve done your part. Now, just leave the rest for the adults to decide, okay?"

I nodded, feeling a sense of peace finally settle over me. I leaned forward and hugged him tightly. "Thank you for understanding me, Evric. I don’t know what I’d do without you."

"You’re welcome, love," he murmured against my hair. He pulled back slightly, a small smirk playing on his lips. "By the way, my friends are already in town."

I couldn’t help it, a wide smile broke across my face as I looked up at him.

"What?" he asked, chuckling. "What’s so funny?"

I shook my head, my smile only growing wider. "It’s nothing."

"It’s clearly nothing," he persisted, nudging me playfully. "Tell me."

I let out a soft laugh. "I just can’t believe it. After how much you annoyed me in the beginning, we’re actually getting married. I never imagined we’d end up here."

Evric grinned, looking impossibly proud of himself. "You can thank me for that. I didn’t give up. I kept chasing you until you realized you couldn’t live without me."

I snorted, poking him in the chest. "Oh, please. You didn’t just ’chase’ me, you were obsessed with me. Admit it."

"Is that so?" he challenged, his eyebrows arching.

"Absolutely," I teased, a playful glint in my eyes. "You couldn’t sleep or even breathe without me. You were a goner from day one."

Evric chuckled, leaning down until our noses brushed, his voice dropping into that low, dangerous register that always made my heart skip. "And what about you, Zayn? You crave my touch. You’ve become addicted to my cock. You’re so gone for me you even want me in your dreams... so tell me, who’s really the obsessed one?"

I felt the heat creep up my neck, thinking about those nights. "No," I insisted, trying to stay firm despite my blushing. "You’re still the one more obsessed with me. You’re the one who wouldn’t take ’no’ for an answer."

To my surprise, Evric didn’t argue. He simply raised his hand in a mock gesture of surrender, a triumphant smile on his face. "Fine. I’ll take that title. Yes, I am obsessed. I’m the one who put in all the effort to win you over, and look where it got us." He pulled me closer, his eyes softening. "Here we are, exactly where I always wanted us to be."

I reached out, cupping his face in my hands. "I love you, baby."

"I love you more," he replied, his voice thick with sincerity. I pulled him back into a tight embrace, holding onto the man who had become my entire world.

The next morning started earlier than usual. The air was thick with anticipation because tonight was our bachelor night, the final celebration before the big day.

Evric didn’t want the chaos of the house or the tension between my parents to interfere with my mood, so he had already made arrangements. He drove me to a luxury hotel he had pre-booked, a stunning suite that overlooked the city.

"Stay here and relax, love," he said, kissing me deeply before he had to head out. "I have a few final things to oversee. My driver will come to pick you up at 7:00 PM sharp for the party. Just wait for my signal."

The afternoon felt like a dream. Instead of being at home, I was lounging in the quiet opulence of the hotel suite. Evric had thought of everything.

It wasn’t even time yet when a knock came at the door. To my surprise, it wasn’t just the driver. Evric had sent a high-end stylist along with a garment bag containing a stunning, custom-tailored suit he had personally crafted exclusively for me.

"Evric, it’s just a bachelor night, not the wedding yet!" I told him over the phone...
