[BL] CRAVING HIM: Addicted to His Voice-Chapter 299: Shared Love, Shared Responsibility
~Zayn’s POV~
"Oh, we are definitely doing this again," I promised. "But not now."
Just then, the mattress rustled beside us. Liam stirred.
We both went completely silent, barely breathing. After a tense few seconds, his little body relaxed, and he drifted back to sleep. We both let out a slow, careful exhale.
I slipped off Evric, and we both carefully got out of bed, moving with ninja-like precision. We went into the bathroom for a quick, silent shower to wash off the evidence of our passion. Once we changed into fresh nightwear, we went straight back to bed. Liam was soundly asleep, occupying the space right in the middle. Evric reached for my hand over Liam’s small body, lacing our fingers together. And just like that, we drifted into a deep, peaceful sleep.
In the morning, I woke to a sight even sweeter than the night before. Liam was already bathed, dressed in fresh clothes, and giggling. Evric, fully awake and dressed in a simple t-shirt and sweats, was lying on his side, playing peek-a-boo with Liam. He looked like a natural father. I checked the time on my phone, and it was almost 9 AM.
I quickly sat up, a jolt of guilt hitting me. "I promised Meera I’d be back early!"
Evric looked up, his face breaking into a radiant smile. "Good morning, babe."
"Good morning, love," I said, leaning over to kiss him quickly before pressing a soft kiss to Liam’s cheek. That’s when I realized it, Liam wasn’t only bathed and changed, he looked completely content and relaxed.
I blinked, surprised. "Did you... You did all this?" I asked, gesturing to Liam’s neat little outfit.
Evric looked up at me with a tiny smile. "Yes," he said softly. "I even fed him his breakfast."
"Babe... are you serious right now?"
He nodded proudly. "He was the perfect little guy. Best morning ever."
I gave him another grateful kiss. "Thank you, baby."
"You are welcome, love."
"Okay, we need to leave now," I said, already scrambling to get dressed. "Meera will definitely be waiting for us."
"Okay, baby," he agreed, setting Liam down on the plush rug with a toy. He stood up and started getting dressed himself. "I’m heading to work, but I’ll check on you back at your place after I’m done for the day."
"Sounds perfect," I said. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He slowed his movements, fingers resting on the next button, and looked at me with a soft smile. "Baby... will you make lunch and bring it to me at the office? I think I deserve a little reward for being such an exceptional dad."
I smiled. "Let me check my schedule first, babe. I’ll let you know."
We finished getting ready for the day. Once I was dressed, Evric scooped Liam into his arms, Liam babbling happily, and I picked up his bag. On our way out, I paused to give Miso and Milo a quick scratch behind the ears, whispering a promise to come back and see them soon, before we finally headed downstairs together.
Evric’s driver was already waiting outside. We slid into the back seat, with Evric holding Liam close as the driver pulled off toward my house.
Inside the car, Liam was completely relaxed, playing happily on his own. He was truly my son, a gorgeous, easygoing little human who gave us no stress.
When we arrived at my house, I gave Evric a quick, tender kiss before he walked me to the front door. He was about to hand Liam over, but Liam’s expression immediately crumpled in confusion, realizing Evric was leaving him.
When we reached my house, I gave Evric a soft, lingering kiss before he walked me to the front door. He tried to hand Liam to me, but the moment Liam sensed Evric pulling away, his tiny face crumpled in confusion.
I took him gently from Evric, but Liam’s expression didn’t soften, in fact, it only tightened, like he was moments away from bursting into tears.
Evric, seeing the change, quickly turned back, kissed Liam deeply on his forehead, and said a proper, exaggerated goodbye, complete with a little wave. Only then did Liam’s face brighten again, and he waved his small hand back. Evric kissed my cheek before finally going back to his car and driving off.
I took a breath and went inside.
The moment Liam spotted his mother, his face lit up. "Mama!" he shouted happily. Meera rushed over, sweeping him into her arms, laughing. "Hey, my sweetheart! Did you miss Mama?"
She looked up at me while gently bouncing Liam. "Why didn’t Evric come in?"
"He couldn’t," I replied. "He’s rushing to the office, had some important things he needed to handle."
She settled onto the couch, still cuddling Liam. "Did he disturb you at all? Was he fussy in the night?"
"Not at all," I assured her, smiling. "Liam was perfect. He slept the entire night."
Meera smiled, her pride evident. "He took after you, Zayn. Liam is so gentle and unproblematic."
I seized the opening. "Meera, I have something I need to talk to you about."
"Oh, what is it?" she asked, her attention fully on me now.
"I wanted to talk about your travel plans," I said, sitting down across from her, keeping my voice calm and sincere. I didn’t want to demand or pressure, just speak from the heart. "I know you’ve already made plans, and I completely understand that relocating is important to you. But now that I’ve just met Liam, I realize... I want to spend more time with him. Would you consider staying a little longer? Just a couple of weeks, or even a month? After that, you can go ahead with your plans. Please, Meera."
Meera glanced down at Liam, gently stroking his hair, lost in thought. "You know... I’ve been thinking about this, too. Seeing how quickly he’s bonded with you... it didn’t feel right to take him away so soon." She looked back up at me, her expression soft and generous. "Alright, Zayn. I’ll put the international travel on hold for now. But I still need to return home today, there are things I need to take care of, appointments I can’t postpone."
"That’s completely understandable," I said, feeling a rush of relief.
"How about this," she suggested. "By the weekend, you can come and take Liam with you, and he can spend the whole weekend with you. After that, we can rotate weekends or figure out a better schedule once I’ve figured it out."
"Thank you, Meera," I said, genuinely moved by her understanding and flexibility. "Thank you so much."
She gave me a gentle smile. "No, thank you, Zayn. I really appreciate that you didn’t use your parental rights to take Liam away completely or override my decisions. That truly means a lot."
We both thanked each other, the air between us suddenly easier, less fraught with tension. She stood up. "I prepared breakfast. You should eat."
"I will," I replied, standing up to stretch. "I just need to shower first, then I’ll be back."
"Okay," she said, and I went inside my room, feeling immense gratitude that the most difficult part of the day was already settled.
