[BL] Challenge: 100 Baby in Fantasy World-Chapter 286: Space’s Situation
Inside the dimensional home, everyone —except Ares— and the guests gathered in the front hall.
Each person sat on a wooden chair with an armchair carved with intricate patterns. They were the new chairs Hilda had bought.
Agus placed a tiny purple crystal on the table. It was so small that anyone would miss it if they didn’t look carefully.
"This is a defective crystal ring," Agus said. "It functions almost like a normal crystal ring, except this one can only transmit sound— and you can’t control when it stops or which crystal it connects to."
"Kinda like a mic used for spying," Gara muttered instinctively.
"I don’t know what ’mic’ means," Agus replied, "but I also suspected someone might be trying to spy on you with this. The question is... who?"
"Maybe the druid side already heard about me, or—" Gara stopped himself. The next person he suspected was Langga.
He couldn’t say that aloud. Not when he had no real proof. Not when Agus would definitely ask why.
He couldn’t explain that Langga had been staring at him strangely for the past few days—
Not the warm, gentle look he usually had, but a gaze hungry for... something.
"If it really is the druids... I’ll investigate whether the druids in Wasyah Forest have made any moves," Agus offered.
Gara nodded, gratitude in his eyes.
The sudden meeting ended, and everyone returned to their own tasks.
Still, it left them far more alert than before. Even inside Gara’s space, they couldn’t be unvigilant.
Afterward, Gara spent his time reading in the library. The library was newly built just a few days earlier.
Gara kept pestering Agus with questions, either specific or just common sense. The elder vampire eventually turned curious why Gara didn’t know the knowledge everyone knew since kid.
After spending his time with answering Gara’s question, Agus dumped a stack of books into his arms, and Gara—shamelessly—asked for even more.
The vice headmaster ended up donating part of his personal collection to the library in the dimensional home.
The books Gara was reading now were about plants that grew in low temperature, the rare seeds he currently owned.
His eyes were fixed on the page describing the Chrona Flower— a plant that could slow the flow of life, even stop it entirely.
Although the association couldn’t experiment with it until autumn, he wanted to study everything he could now so he wouldn’t be clueless later.
But before autumn arrived, early spring meant one thing: He needed to start planting.
Hilda had already selected suitable slaves. They weren’t physical laborers but former influential people who had suffered misfortune.
They were chosen specifically because their personalities wouldn’t cause problems, though the soul oath already ensured that.
The farmers, on the other hand, were ordinary workers.
For the past few days, Wina had been leaving the dimensional space to carry out the soul oaths.
Even regular workers had to take the oath since the existence of this space must remain a secret.
To avoid suspicion, Hilda bought a large building that looked like an abandoned factory from the outside.
Slaves and workers would gather there first, then Gara would bring them into his dimensional space.
Today, Gara was checking the progress in the fields.
The moment he stepped out of the mansion gate, the sound of workers hammering wood reached his ears.
Aside from preparing the soil for farming, the slaves and workers also had to build their own houses.
Whenever they saw Gara, they quickly lowered their heads in fear.
"Relax. Just keep working," Gara said quickly.
He had hoped they would eventually treat him like a neighbor, but it seemed the power gap in this world was too great.
Or more accurately, nobles held too much authority.
Those beneath them wouldn’t dare to behave casually, not even to speak freely within earshot.
Passing through the housing area, Gara arrived at the future farm fields.
Besides the special farm that appeared when the space leveled up, the other fields were manually built by the workers.
Gara had already checked the soil quality. Both fields had different fertility levels, but with the right fertilizer —his own handmade formula— the new fields wouldn’t fall behind.
After finishing the inspection, Gara headed back toward the front gate.
He originally planned to circle around and check the back entrance too, but with his pregnancy nearing seven months, he tired much more easily.
He had been drinking more niskara tea recently. Without it, he would’ve collapsed in bed from exhaustion.
At the front gate, he crossed paths with Agus, who had just returned from outside.
"Things are getting livelier around here," Agus remarked. "It’d be great if a few Liners could start practicing mist monster suppression from here."
Agus glanced sideways at Gara, observing his student’s reaction.
But Gara kept a neutral expression and didn’t respond.
’Better to stay quiet than to be seen as disrespecting someone older,’ Gara thought.
Agus understood that Gara didn’t want to discuss the topic and let it drop.
Near the mansion, Gara turned toward the side path. Agus noticed and grew curious.
"Where are you headed, Gara?" he asked.
"I want to check the greenhouse progress," Gara replied.
Agus perked up instantly. "That greenhouse idea of yours is fascinating, trapping the internal temperature, preventing it from escaping or being influenced by the outside."
"You’ve been inside, Sir?" Gara asked, surprised. He had never explained greenhouse principles to the old vampire.
"I have. Just once."
The greenhouse construction had been progressing slower than Gara planned.
Ares, who was assigned to work there, had been stuck inside the mansion because of Agus’s presence.
Work could only resume during holidays.
Originally, Gara intended to rely on simple technology.
But after discussing it with Weldon Forgearsly, the gnome had come up with a flood of ideas, and had been eager to bring all of them to life.
Coincidentally, the new device had just arrived.
"That device was made by Sir Weldon Forgearsly. It can generate artificial heat and cold," Gara explained.
"So you know that genius as well?" Agus raised a brow, then laughed. "The two of you were bound to meet. You both received the ’genius’ label while attending Gyakarta Academy."
"I’m nowhere near his level, Sir," Gara said quickly, shaking his head.
He could feel Weldon’s passion for his craft—not someone chasing fame, but someone who worked purely out of curiosity and zeal.
It showed in how Weldon postponed other commissions just so he could focus on building Gara’s device.
"When will we know whether the greenhouse works?" Agus asked.
"Maybe in a few months, when the next Black Lavender harvest cycle comes around," Gara replied.
To test the new device, he had planted Black Lavender.
Even if the harvest failed, the loss wouldn’t be nearly as bad compared to the other rare seeds.
As they were about to leave the greenhouse, Agus let out a long, heavy sigh.
Gara felt a bit curious, but he had no intention of asking.
Still, the centuries-old vampire spoke up on his own.
"With all the progress you’ve made in your space, I truly wish we could connect this territory to the kingdom. Unfortunately, space-type crystals are extremely rare. I haven’t found a single one."
While Agus sounded genuinely distressed, Gara had to fight hard not to smile.
’Good. Then I don’t have to lie to him. Hopefully it’ll take him a long time to find one.’
After checking the greenhouse, Gara returned to the mansion and went up to the second floor.
The triplets were being fed by Wina, Della, and Ares.
Gara immediately took Arion from his mother, letting her rest for a moment.
Soon after, Gara’s crystal ring lit up.
While spoon-feeding Arion his puree, Gara listened to Hilda’s report.
"Master, the next batch of purified enhance crystals contains a space type."
"Space type?" Gara was stunned.
He was happy— but also anxious.
"Don’t sell that crystal. And if any other space-type appears, don’t sell those either. Keep them until I give further instructions."
"Yes, Master," Hilda replied obediently.
She continued with the rest of her reports. Meanwhile, Wina kept glancing at her son with a worried expression.
Gara noticed immediately.
Once he finished speaking with Hilda, he turned toward his mother.
"Mom, what’s making you so anxious?"
"Tomorrow... tomorrow we’ll be going to Esalavya Duchy," Wina answered quietly.
Gara remembered.
Tomorrow might be one of the most important days of his life in this fantasy world.
Tomorrow could change everything— either for the better, or leading him straight into danger. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
And the next day came quickly.
Wina had already dressed in her best clothes. She insisted that Gara do the same, even almost forcing him into a suit.
But Gara refused. He still needed to wear his cloak.
At last, Wina gave up on the suit.
They left the dimensional space and headed to the teleportation hall.
In front of the large building, Tristan was already waiting.
"Gara, let’s go meet your family."
