(BL)Alpha Made-Chapter 568: We’ll do this together
Andrew held back his own desires to be in the bathroom as it happened. He knew that the man should have some privacy, even if they were married and Andrew had seen pretty much everything. Maxwell was his own human, he deserved privacy and respect. At least, somewhat. Maxwell personally didn’t want Andrew to be too far away, still needy and anxious, and Andrew didn’t want him to be alone during this moment. That was the last thing that Andrew wanted Maxwell to feel.
"Are you sure that this is going to work?" Maxwell asked for the seventh time. Since Andrew had gotten him his orange juice, the man had been slowly regaining his normal calm and cool personality. That did not mean he wasn’t questioning this completely.
Maxwell would admit he’d never had to take a pregnancy test before, and had only been partially there for the first time Amir took the pregnancy test. His expression might be calmer, but it was clear to Andrew that he was panicking on the inside. Still, Andrew saw no point in lying to him.
"I grabbed several different types of pregnancy tests. They should be in the drawer near the toilet, above the toilet paper drawer." Andrew spoke clearly through the door to the bathroom in their bedroom. He was leaning against the frame, staying as close to the door as he could without going through it.
Andrew could hear Maxwell moving, the drawer opening, and then nothing for a long moment.
"You bought a lot." Maxwell commented carefully and Andrew felt his lips curl into a smile.
"Well, like you, I was worried it wasn’t going to work. The one I selected for you to use is the one that has the best rating, but it seems that there is always a margin of error when it comes to pregnancy tests. Plus, even if it comes back negative this time it doesn’t mean you aren’t pregnant. It just might mean that the test couldn’t pick it up yet. We could go to your doctor or ask Michael for a blood test to confirm it." Andrew said carefully. He just wanted to make sure that Maxwell knew he had options.
There was a soft, shaky breath on the other side and Andrew wanted so badly to open the door and hold him.
"You’ll stay there while I do this?" Maxwell asked quietly and Andrew’s heart squeezed.
"Bring the test out with you and we’ll cuddle on the bed together while we wait." Andrew told him. Maxwell’s pheromones leaked out from under the bathroom door, a twist of fear and worry and a little bit of happiness. Andrew held onto that last note, knowing that Maxwell was excited, just terrified in the moment.
"Okay." Maxwell agreed, and then Andrew listened to him opening the box, reading the instructions, and then the soft sound of him peeing. Andrew waited for him to wash his hands before the door opened, Maxwell holding the stick in his hand before he rushed Andrew, wrapping his arms around his waist and burying his face into Andrew’s chest. Andrew held him, pressing kisses against his hair.
"Whatever happens, I still love you. I will love you no matter what." Andrew said. He wasn’t sure if Maxwell was doubting his feelings, god, he hoped not, but he wanted to comfort him no matter what. "The stick doesn’t mean as much as you do to me." Andrew told him and felt Maxwell squeeze him tightly.
"We have about 10 minutes." Maxwell muttered and Andrew smiled. Carefully, he lifted the man up, putting him on top of his own feet and carrying him over to the bed. Andrew tapped Maxwell’s shoulders gently, and Maxwell released him to crawl into his lap, putting the stick face down in his lap and wrapping his arms around Andrew’s neck, burying his face there. Andrew could feel how rapidly he was breathing, his body shaking slightly like a leaf in Andrew’s arms.
Andrew held him close, tucking Maxwell’s head under his chin, his arms squeezing him a little too tightly in his arms. He released his pheromones, wrapping them around Maxwell and felt the man slowly stop shaking. Maxwell let out a breathless laugh.
"If I’m not pregnant, we’ll still have to go to the doctor about my reaction." Maxwell joked. "That’s not normal either." Andrew smiled at his attempt to make this feel easier, not as tense.
"Mm. Well, I’m glad you think that being pregnant is the good outcome, and either way, we’ll be going to the doctor." Andrew affirmed. "I’m worried about you, and I find that I can’t control it either." Andrew rubbed his chin against the top of Maxwell’s head. "I think that might also be a sign that that test is going to turn out positive. I’m pretty close to growling at others that get too close. Letting you go to the office on your own for the last week has taken an extra level of strength." Andrew told him and Maxwell wiggled his head out from under Andrew’s chin to tilt his head back and stare at Andrew.
"Really?" He seemed so surprised at Andrew’s words and Andrew cracked a smile.
"Maxy, you know how possessive I get when you’re in heat. Can you imagine how much I’m fighting myself when thinking you are pregnant with my child?" Andrew carefully, watching for Maxwell’s reaction, slid his hand down to gently cup Maxwell’s stomach. Maxwell’s eyes widened, his lips opening into a soft o as Andrew’s hand warmed his stomach. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Andy?" Maxwell called Andrew’s name, and Andrew felt a soft sigh leave his lips.
"Letting you leave the house instead of locking you up in our home, feeding and caring for you, helping you build your nest further, giving you everything you need without letting anyone but family in? I had no idea I had this possessive desire within me, but it appears that I do." Andrew told him and watched as Maxwell’s lashes went down once, twice, and then he stared up at Andrew with warm, blue eyes.
"Stop selling me a pipe dream. I have to work. If I am pregnant, I have a lot of things I need to put in place, especially if Ellis isn’t back and ready to work yet." It was not lost on Andrew that this was the first time that Maxwell had called his best friend by his first name, but Andrew didn’t think this was the right time to point it out either.
"Mm, my busy, sexy husband was already plotting? That’s hot." Andrew teased and watched Maxwell blush. He looked down, pouting slightly as he stared at Andrew’s hand still resting on his stomach.
"Of course I was plotting. We had talked about the honeymoon already, so I was just...being cautious. However, I didn’t account for Ellis getting pregnant, nor everyone else. Ben’s going to be busy, May isn’t doing well, Mom and Dad are also trying to retire now after May’s scare..." Maxwell trailed off, sighing. "I’m worried I don’t have anyone who can replace me." Maxwell admitted. "And I’m also worried that I...might not bond with the child easily either." Maxwell admitted. "Let’s face it, I’m not the most omega person out there."
Andrew stared at him for a long, silent moment. Maxwell? Not an omega? There was no way that Andrew would ever mistake him for anything else, at least outwardly. Andrew understood what he was trying to say, but his brain was just getting caught on his physical appearance in the moment, and the fact that they were discussing this while waiting for the time on a pregnancy test.
"Maxy, my sweet hubby," Andrew started, and watched as Maxwell’s cheeks warmed, "you will have an easier time bonding with the child then I will. You’ll have the hormones that come along with pregnancy that should help with that, and if you have a hard time, that’s okay too. You’ll be a good dad. I have no doubt about it." Andrew told him, his heart on his sleeve. "I honestly am a little worried that if things go poorly for you in the hospital and the baby hurts you that I might lose my damn mind and also hold it against the child." Andrew admitted and Maxwell huffed. He reached for the hand on Andrew’s stomach, giving it a gentle squeeze.
"There is no way that someone as kind and loving as you would ever do that." Maxwell spoke with a conviction that made Andrew’s smile grow wide. "Plus, that baby is going to be a mixture of you and me. There is no way you’d treat anything that came from me poorly." Maxwell’s confidence had Andrew laughing.
He bent, kissing the man warmly and Maxwell melted into the kiss. They didn’t kiss deeply, just soft, comforting pecks that hand Maxwell’s hand tightening on Andrew’s.
"Is it time?" Maxwell asked, less anxious now that they’d had a moment to talk and calm down. Andrew gulped, his own nerves coming to the surface. He spoke a good game, but he was also anxious about the outcome. What if he was wrong? What if he had read into things incorrectly? What if something was wrong with Maxwell and Andrew had delayed his care?
"I think so." Andrew told him carefully and Maxwell took a shaky breath in. He looked up at Andrew, his lip trembling.
"Can we flip it together?" Maxwell had all of Andrew’s heart before now, but he truly held everything in his hands now.
"Of course, Maxy." Andrew breathed, sliding his hand away from Maxwell’s stomach to the stick. Maxwell’s hand covered his, his fingers shaking slightly. "On the count of three, okay? One, two, three." Andrew flipped, and it took him a moment to process what he was seeing. Maxwell was the same, both men staring blankly at the stick.
Two lines.
There were two lines.
Andrew sucked in, his chest expanding before a wave of uncontrollable pheromones left him. Maxwell was much the same, both men shaking and crying within seconds of each other.
Andrew dropped the test, wrapping his arms around Maxwell in his lap, hugging him tightly in his arms as Maxwell did the same. Andrew wasn’t sure who was sobbing louder, him or Maxwell.
"I love you. I love you so much. Oh my god, Maxy. I can’t believe it." Andrew whispered against Maxwell’s shoulder. Maxwell simply couldn’t speak, his emotions making it hard for him to do so. They held each other for a long moment, squeezing each other, loving each other as they both absorbed the news.
"S-Should I take a different one just to be sure?" Maxwell finally asked and Andrew nodded.
"Whatever makes you feel more secure. I know you like to make sure." Andrew told him kindly, and Maxwell took a shaky breath in, wiping at his face with the back of his hands.
"I don’t know if I have enough pee right now." Maxwell admitted. "I feel like I am crying out all of my fluids." Andrew let out a soft laugh.
"Why don’t I carry you downstairs, you can have some more orange juice, and then we can take the second test downstairs? That way I can contact your doctor and let her know we want to book a test to make sure." Andrew said, beaming. He couldn’t help himself as he leaned in, pressing a kiss against Maxwell’s slightly puffy cheeks. "God, I adore you." Andrew told him, and watched as Maxwell flushed, but looked extremely pleased.
Maxwell glanced down, placing a tender, shaking hand over his stomach.
"You put a baby in me." He said with wonder and Andrew felt an uncontrollable jolt of lust.
"Careful." Andrew muttered. "We can’t have sex for a while, Angel. Don’t turn me on too much." Andrew warned and watched as Maxwell’s eyes widened, before a big, goofy grin touched his lips.
"Awe. You do love me." Maxwell teased. Andrew wanted to kiss that smile off of his face, so he did. The happiness on his lips tasted so sweet that Andrew felt he might get a cavity.
He hoped his Mom was in heaven, watching over them during this moment. He wanted her to see how happy he was right now.
