Chapter 366: Chapter 24: Warlock Clans (Part 2)

Shawn’s figure lightly floated to the ground, and as he walked out of the alley, he had transformed into a young man dressed in a black outfit, wearing a cloak and hood.

——Reconnaissance Demon Eye!

Numerous tiny Mechanical Demon Eyes flew out. The power of Crow’s Nest was far inferior to that of the Night Watch Headquarters; the Dagon Region was predominantly inherited from Warlocks, and most of the Guardian Clans were of Warlock bloodlines. To maintain the power of their lineage, they continued to marry closely, which eventually led to the extinction of many Guardian Clans’ bloodlines.

The dark secrets of those Warlock Clans generally didn’t require investigation; a cursory look through historical records would reveal them. Mages looked down on Warlocks for a reason.

The Guardian Clan of Ring City was inherited from Imogen Waghorn, later renamed the Horn Clan. They experienced a decline over a hundred years ago, but due to the emergence of a genius among the many descendants, they rose again. Most of the Guardian Clans in Dagon carry bloodline curses from the close kin mating results, defiling their bloodline origins. The advantage of transcendent beings born this way is that they begin digesting extraordinary essence from birth and possess strong power before adulthood, and because the digestion spans a long time, they can suppress the pollution from the source.

The current leader of the Horn Clan is almost a hundred years old now, and their bloodline seems to have encountered another problem, with a very small number of surviving descendants.

This is a death loop.

Every century or two, the Guardian Clans will face the challenge of difficult lineage succession, but with outsiders marrying in, they can’t maintain the power of the Warlock bloodline. If the bloodline becomes thinner, the chance of birthing powerful Warlocks becomes slimmer, and eventually, the family will slowly decline.

Unless one of their descendants can attest to becoming a Heaven’s Will Mage by relying on their own power.

All known Guardian Clans seem to possess some unique Heaven’s Law that can be passed to their descendants, and their family Curios will recognize an owner; without their bloodline, even the Curios cannot be used.

The Reconnaissance Demon Eye monitored a three-kilometer range nearby; the entire Crow’s Nest was deathly silent, like a massive tomb, exuding a faint rotten atmosphere.

There are dead people!

And many people have died!

——Spell Order.

——Accident Skill (Trigger Skill).

Spiritual Light flashed across Shawn’s body as he loaded several spells into the Spell Orderer. Upon activating the Rune Order, he could unleash all contained spells at once.

The situation in Crow’s Nest was worse than Shawn anticipated; it was nearly transforming into a corrupted demon nest.

"Activate Mental Force Field!"

"Launch Telepathic Network! Detect all magic power fluctuations within range!"

——Advanced Invisibility Technique.

Shawn’s figure seemed like a void illusion, quietly infiltrating Crow’s Nest Headquarters. All peripheral trigger alert devices were already disabled, dried up dark bloodstains covered the ground, and shadows lingered in corners—no living persons, but bloated, stitched Corpse Demons roamed.

Through its partially decomposed face, Shawn could faintly see the shadow of a Demon Hunter.

"Necromancy!"

The entire front area of Crow’s Nest had become a filthy decaying cesspool, crawling with maggots everywhere, flies laying eggs amid an evil aura, growing nearly five centimeters in size.

"Caw!"

A strange hoarse sound arose, and Shawn saw a death crow with only half a skull left; it was a Messenger for Demon Hunters, a unique transcendent creature. They gathered in the lush trees of the courtyard, beneath which piled several meters high of rotting flesh, with tumor-like cocoons slowly pulsating within.

"Which force of the ancient days could it be?"

"The Lord of Corruption?"

"Vessel of Greed?"

"Or other unknown ancient powers hidden in other planes?" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Clearly.

The force corrupting the entire city is unlikely to originate from the Material Plane; it is most likely from other planes, such as the Shadow Plane, Spirit Realm Plane, or even the legendary Negative Energy Plane.

This city is shrouded in negative emotions like death, corruption, gluttony, sloth, greed, etc., appearing not to be the work of just one ancient force.

No one could possibly have been chosen by three gods, could they?

Inside the Crow’s Nest, there were no living human beings. Someone had eradicated the entirety of Demon Hunters, something Shawn found nearly impossible, as it was the headquarters of an Extraordinary Path inheritance, surely guarded by one or two Heaven’s Will Legendary Level powerhouses, yet they all perished silently.

"Who?!"

Just as Shawn infiltrated the underground area, a Reconnaissance Demon Eye suddenly disconnected from the Mind Link. Those transformed undead creatures rarely discovered Reconnaissance Demon Eyes, but the final image showed a sleeve arrow piercing through the Reconnaissance Demon Eye.

There’s a living person?!

Shawn’s figure darted out, and in the instant he emerged, he saw a swift black shadow. The figure leapt from a three-story height, with agility almost beyond belief, darting to the side roof of the Gothic Church. Over ten meters high required only a breath for him, and as Shawn caught up, the figure had already glided over the rooftops, disappearing into the buildings hundreds of meters away.

A skilled expert!

Almost certainly a transcendent being of the Demon Hunter path; there should still be survivors here.
