Birthing Legends: My Womb Creates SSS Monsters-Chapter 68: A SUPER RARE SPAWN?! …Oh. It’s Just a Worm.
Maddy stood frozen, eyes sparkling watching the swirling vortex.
"A SUPER RARE SPAWN?! Is it really happening?! Is it... the Chimera Worm?!"
Before the creature inside could even finish forming, two figures had already shot into the air. Sephiran and Arach streaked upward like twin comets, both racing straight toward the vortex. Neither of them looked back. Both were determined to be the first to reach it.
"I’M THE FAVORITE!"
Sephiran screamed, his Hell Body flaring into a supernova of dark heat.
"NOT TODAY, LITTLE BROTHER!"
Arach roared, his six weapon arms spinning like the blades of a lethal turbine.
Maddy could only stare at her two sons with a mix of shock and disbelief.
"These two are actually serious about that favorite son thing, aren’t they?"
The vortex pulsed. A single, slimy, pale head poked out. It was... a standard, bug eyed... Man Eater Worm. The creature barely had time to release a confused little "mewl—" before two shadows slammed into it.
A Demonic War Bat and six chimeric blades struck at the exact same moment.
BOOM! CLANG!
In less than a second, the poor worm never even took its first breath. It hadn’t fully entered the world yet, hadn’t even taken a proper look around before the combined strike pulverized it completely.
When the impact settled, there was no corpse. No fragments. Nothing. Just a single damp spot on the ground where the worm had briefly existed.
Maddy’s shoulders slumped. Her anime style "sparkle eyes" turned into flat, dead lines.
"Are you kidding me!? All that buildup for a common mob? I thought I could finally see one of my siblings... This whole mana distortion and not a single one spawned! Just that alpha cannibal nightmare worm..."
Lucy answered calmly.
[Response: Displaying encountered Mana "Spawn Wheel" classifications.]
[Normal Spawn — Green]
[Enraged/Distortion Spawn — Violet]
[Alpha Spawn — Black with Red Lightning]
[Super Rare Spawn — Gold]
[These colors determine what type of monster will emerge from the Spawn Wheel.]
Maddy rubbed her temples and let out a long sigh.
"Right... Super rare is gold. Yeah, that fits the name. And that little galaxy thing even has a name too... Spawn Wheel. Noted."
She groaned, clearly frustrated.
"Argh! You scammed me, Lucy! You said a mana distortion would increase the probability of spawning a rare one..."
Lucy’s calm voice replied immediately.
[Response: Correction. Mana distortion increases the probability of higher tier spawns. It does not guarantee a Super Rare manifestation.]
"Yeah, yeah, fine... whatever," Maddy muttered.
With a tired wave of her hand, she turned on her heel and began walking toward the cave exit.
"Come on, boys. Don’t fight over who’s my favorite son. You both are."
She glanced back at them, her tone firm but warm.
"And in the future, there’ll probably be more sons anyway, so stop wasting your time on silly debates, alright?"
She pointed toward the tunnel leading home.
"Let’s go home, boys."
Maddy had already started walking away, but the boys clearly hadn’t heard a word she said.
Behind her, Sephiran and Arach were still standing over the damp spot on the floor, arguing like their lives depended on it. Sephiran puffed his cheeks and pointed accusingly at the spot.
"I hit it first! My bat made the squish sound!"
Arach scoffed, crossing his upper arms with a smug look.
"My swords reduced it to atoms before your bat even landed. Therefore, I am clearly the favorite."
Sephiran gasped in outrage.
"That’s cheating! You used six swords at once!"
Maddy’s eye twitched.
That was it.
She marched back, veins practically popping on her forehead, and smacked both of them on the head at the same time. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
BONK!
"Ow!"
"Mother!"
"You’re both my favorite idiots! And you just massacred one poor creature over a made up competition! You even dragged me into that nonsense just to murder a baby worm!"
She pointed toward the cave entrance.
"Now move it!"
Both of them were slammed straight into the ground, their bodies buried deep in the soil like freshly planted potatoes. Only their heads remained above the surface, dirt clinging to their faces.
"Sorry, Mother..."
"Sorry..."
It was the first time they had truly seen this side of Maddy—the unmistakable authority of a mother who had run out of patience. Maddy let out a long sigh, rubbing her temple.
"How did these two even start arguing about who the favorite is...? Boys are such a complicated gender..."
Finally, they returned home. The two boys were now on their best behavior, their earlier bickering completely gone.
Maddy walked straight toward the Mobile Womb Chamber, checking the gestation sacs the moment she arrived.
Dyralfa and Frovian pulsed steadily inside their pods, safe behind walls so durable that not even a tectonic shift could crack them. At the entrance of their home, a massive stone door stood firmly in place, one that would only open in response to Maddy’s mana or her children.
Sephiran looked at the sealed entrance with a slightly wistful expression.
"I guess I really am out of a job now, Mother... No more guarding the entrance."
Maddy chuckled and ruffled his hair.
"Nonsense, Sephiran. Protecting our home will always be your duty, but you must understand: our home isn’t just this stone structure."
She leaned in and tapped his chest gently, right over his heart.
"Your home is your family. Wherever we are, that is where your hearth fire burns. Your true job isn’t to guard a door; it’s to guard the lives within it. Do you understand?"
Sephiran’s face lit up at once, realization sparkling in his eyes. He stood a little taller, his small chest swelling with pride.
"Oh! So the gate doesn’t matter... I just have to guard you, Arach, and everyone else! Sister Dyralfa and Brother Frovian too—and all the siblings who’ll come later!"
He puffed his chest proudly.
"Then I’ll guard all of you instead! No one gets close to our family without going through me first!"
Sephiran looked up at her with a bright grin.
"I like this job better, Mother."
