Billionaire's Unforgettable Ex-Wife-Chapter 888 - 555: Unwilling to Help
When Ivy Miller saw the message upon returning to her room after lunch, it had already been fifteen minutes.
She was puzzled about what Henry Sullivan had done when Damian Sullivan called her.
Ivy walked to the door, closed it, and then moved to the window to take the call, "Hello, Dad."
"Ivy, how have you been lately? Is the kid doing well?"
"Pretty good, don’t worry."
"That’s good to hear."
Damian suddenly stopped talking, and Ivy didn’t ask proactively, "Dad, I need to put Ivy to sleep. I’ll call you when I have time later..."
"Ivy, do you know what Henry has been up to lately?"
Ivy shook her head, "We haven’t been in touch these past couple of days. Since we’ve already decided to divorce, it’s better to minimize contact, as this is... a way of respecting each other."
She knew Damian was calling for a reason, but she decided not to get involved with the Sullivan family matters.
Especially since Henry had just sent her a message like that.
It was obvious that Henry did something to the Sullivan family.
Damian probably wanted her to help.
But now, in what position could she meddle in the Sullivan family’s affairs?
"Dad, Ivy needs to rest now, I’ll hang up first. I’ll call you to check on you when I have time."
She was genuinely busy these past few days, having just found a suitable place and was preparing to move.
Though her parents disagreed, she couldn’t keep living in the military compound indefinitely.
Many people would see her mom and ask, ’Has your Ivy been back at your place for many days now, when is she leaving?’
Every time that happened, her mom would feel quite uncomfortable; she actually knew this.
In the city, neighbors didn’t really have much intimacy, but it was different in the military compound.
Since everyone’s partner there were colleagues, they mostly knew each other.
Some small talks couldn’t be avoided, and her father was a proud man; if people knew his daughter was kicked out from a rich family, he’d definitely lose face.
"Ivy, I’m not going to lie, I’m asking for your help for something.
Henry... these days he’s either drinking or getting into trouble.
Your mother and I are helpless, so I can only ask you for help.
Can you try to persuade him?
I know your mom’s actions were unfair to you.
The retribution we deserve, we’ve suffered.
But... Henry can’t just be ruined like this, can you help him? He only listens to you now."
Ivy bit her lip, "If I could help, I definitely would, but Dad, I believe in Henry’s character, he’s not supposed to be like this.
He will get better, he’s in pain right now, and doing some unusual things is quite normal.
Give him some time, he’s a good person and will figure things out on his own.
If you don’t let him vent the frustration in his heart now, I’m afraid it’ll be tough for him to live calmly in the future.
Honestly, I still love Henry, but because of Director Rhodes, we’re forced to divorce.
I’m not even the first woman in Henry’s life ruined by Director Rhodes.
It’s normal for Henry to be resentful. I can’t make him swallow all the grievances just because you can’t bear to see it. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
I also wanted to rebel, but I couldn’t, because Director Rhodes is not my mother, so I can only endure.
Reaching this point today, I don’t even want to mention Director Rhodes’s name.
So Dad, I’m sorry, please don’t put me in a difficult position with these kinds of things in the future."
Listening to Ivy’s words, Damian sighed with resignation and nodded, "Alright, Ivy, I understand what you mean, I really was asking for too much.
Then you go ahead and rest with Ivy, let’s talk about future matters, in the future."
"Okay, Dad, I’ll hang up now."
After hanging up the call, Ivy put aside the matter of the message Henry Sullivan had previously sent her.
Ivy rolled around in bed for over half an hour before finally falling asleep.
The next day, she moved into a new home with Ivy, and her parents, seeing the decent environment, finally felt at ease.
As they were leaving, her usually quiet father said, "Ivy, it’s not that I don’t want to keep you here. Since you want to live your own life, I won’t force you. But no matter what happens, you have to tell Dad; Dad can protect you, you know that."
Saying she wasn’t touched would be a lie; sometimes, she thought she was quite pitiable herself.
She ended up not having a happy ending after marrying Henry Sullivan, against all odds.
But looking at it another way, it is what it is, she might as well see it as a necessary trial.
Thinking about it more opened her heart.
Ivy invited her old housekeeper back, and they had a delicious dinner that night.
She always thought she needed to learn some cooking skills, otherwise, when her kid went to kindergarten, she couldn’t keep hiring a housekeeper; after all, that would be quite an expense.
After lying down at night, she started browsing through her Taobao shop again. It seemed she had to return to her old business; after more than a year of not doing it, suddenly picking it up again felt somewhat awkward.
While she was looking, her phone rang. Seeing that it was Manager Tan calling, Ivy picked up, "Hello, Manager Tan."
"Hi Ivy, it’s been a while since I’ve seen you at the company. Have you been busy with something lately?"
"I’ve been taking care of my kid at home, I don’t want to go back to the company for now.
Is there something you need from me, Manager Tan?"
"Ah, things at the company have been a bit chaotic lately, I wanted to find out if you have any insider news."
"What’s been going on? What happened?"
"Seems like you haven’t heard either. Yesterday, someone suddenly posted on the company forum.
The post included bedroom photos of Florence Wilder with a man.
Even though it was deleted within minutes, it was lunch hour, and someone was browsing the forum. Many people saw the photo because the canteen was crowded and someone made a fuss about it.
Since yesterday, Florence Wilder hasn’t shown up for work, and it’s unclear why.
Today, some disciplinary inspection personnel came to our unit to check accounts, and they seemed quite serious about it.
Everyone’s saying that a major shift might be happening at the Twilight Group."
Ivy felt a bit heavy-hearted, "This matter isn’t related to Florence Wilder, is it?"
"Most likely it is. Florence’s father is the city committee secretary, so he does have a bit of power.
Her grandfather is an old general who was quite angered upon learning that his granddaughter suffered such grievances while under Director Rhodes."
"Who’s the man? No one recognizes him?"
"No one does. Someone took a screenshot, and I looked at it, but I didn’t recognize him."
Ivy breathed a sigh of relief; it wasn’t Henry Sullivan. But also, Florence Wilder had always tried to break up her family, so if the man in bed with Florence was really Henry Sullivan, it probably wouldn’t have caused such a commotion.
Because Nathan Rhodes would have found ways to make them marry to settle things.
But it might not be that simple with Florence Wilder, should she... really call Henry Sullivan?
