Billionaire's Unforgettable Ex-Wife-Chapter 840 - 523: Inviting Her Back to the Company
On the day James Yinley and Isla Linton left, Ivy Miller and Henry Sullivan personally went to see them off.
At the airport, Ivy saw Isla cry for the first time. She said, "Ivy, if there’s anything I can’t bear to leave in Anchester, it’s you.
I didn’t know that such a friendship could exist between people.
Thank you so much for these days, thank you for giving me hope."
Ivy smiled and held her hand, "Isla, it’s not me who gave you hope, it’s you who gave yourself hope.
If you ever find yourself troubled in the future, you can call me anytime.
I’ll do my best to help you find peace of mind.
And, you know, since James has recognized me as his little sister, if he ever bullies you, I’ll be sure to bully him back for you."
James, with an arm around Isla’s shoulders, looked at her and said, "Don’t worry, of all the people, she’s the last one I’d ever bully."
Ivy shook her head, "Oh, don’t be so sure. These days, you’d rather believe there are ghosts in the world than believe a man’s lies."
"Geez, why do you always undermine me like that."
Ivy stuck out her tongue and smiled, "Can’t help it, this world is full of tricks, and I’m just being honest.
Anyway, if you bully her, I’ll hide her away where you can’t find her."
Isla laughed as she looked at James, "See, I’ve got someone to rely on now."
James nodded helplessly, "I see, I see. How little faith you all have in me." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
After a bit of joking, Isla felt much better. She linked arms with James and looked over at Henry. After exchanging a glance, she nodded and smiled at him, "Take good care of Ivy."
"I know, I will."
"Take care of yourselves too."
Henry nodded, "You guys too."
James’s hand slid down to hold hers, "Alright, we should go in now."
Henry hugged Ivy’s shoulders as they watched the two leave. When they meet again, they’d just be old friends seeing each other.
He felt a real sense of relief, as if the stone weighing on his heart for so many years had finally been set down.
When Ivy was one and a half years old, Ivy Miller finally weaned her with great reluctance.
Chloe Wilder was three months pregnant and felt terrible with morning sickness every day. Since they lived in the same neighborhood now, Ivy Miller would visit Chloe’s home daily with Ivy.
Seeing her in that state, she couldn’t help but laugh, "Remember how you teased me when I was pregnant? Now it’s your turn."
"Stop it, I’m so done with vomiting."
Ivy laughed. Just a few days earlier, when she weaned Ivy, Chloe hadn’t even begun her morning sickness yet.
She sorrowfully told Chloe she really didn’t want to wean Ivy, but Chloe just laughed at her, saying most babies are weaned by six months, but hers was spoiled.
Ivy then ’argued’ with her, saying she’d see what Chloe does when her own baby arrives, and when she’d wean it.
Chloe was very certain, six months.
She had actually considered weaning Ivy at six months too, but just couldn’t bear to, so she let her nurse until a year and a half.
Now Ivy was able to clearly express many simple words.
Seeing her like this, Chloe was always saying how she wanted an adorable daughter too.
After vomiting, she lounged listlessly on the sofa playing with Ivy. Then she remembered something and asked, "Have you thought about the job offer your father-in-law called about, asking you to work at the company?"
"I don’t want to go. You know the memories I have of that place aren’t good.
The people there are too snobbish and just look down on me.
Besides, the woman my mother-in-law favors is working there now too.
If I went, wouldn’t it cause total chaos?"
Chloe snorted, "That kind of woman has no blood ties with you or the Twilight Group; she just works at your company.
What are you afraid of? You’re the wife of the future man in charge."
Ivy pouted, "That’s not really the point. My mother-in-law doesn’t like me. Even if I did go, I’d only be pushed aside.
And besides, my husband separated from them long ago. If I went back now, it’d feel completely out of place."
"It was your father-in-law who personally invited you. What more legitimacy do you need?
You’re the daughter-in-law of the CEO of the Twilight Group, isn’t that enough?"
Ivy shook her head, "I’ll think about it for a few more days."
"Your father-in-law called you twice about it already, you better decide soon."
"Alright, got it," she said as she got up to pick Ivy up, "Well, I won’t bother you, Ms. Sick Leave. I’m heading home."
"Hey, it’s lunchtime! Why are you leaving? Stay and eat with me.
Neither your husband nor mine is home today anyway."
"I can’t, auntie’s still waiting at home. You hold tight here.
I’ll have auntie bring you some dumplings later. Besides, Ivy needs her nap."
She kept talking while walking out, "Come on Ivy, say goodbye to your godmother."
Ivy playfully made a face, "Bye mommy."
Chloe kissed Ivy on the forehead, "Come see your godmom after you’ve had a good nap."
"Come see godmom," Ivy mimicked Chloe’s tone, making both adults chuckle.
Back home, Ivy asked the auntie to deliver dumplings to Chloe. She herself fed Ivy first.
After Ivy fell asleep, she was going to take a nap too, but then her father-in-law came over.
Hearing the auntie talking to her father-in-law at the door, Ivy quickly went to the living room.
"Dad, how come you have time to visit at noon today?"
"I called Henry’s office and heard he went on a business trip, so I came by to see the child."
Hearing Damian Sullivan say this, Ivy felt a pang of guilt. Honestly, her father-in-law was actually a nice person.
"Dad, Ivy just fell asleep. You can go in and see her."
"Okay," Damian went in for a while before coming out, "The child, sleeping so soundly."
Ivy smiled, "Yeah, she eats well, sleeps plenty, and has gotten chubby. Dad, have you eaten? Should I have the auntie make you lunch?"
"No need, I already ate before coming," he said while taking out a card and putting it on the table.
"This is pocket money for the child. Keep it. Buy whatever you need later."
Ivy gestured with her hands, "Dad, it’s not necessary. Henry’s salary is more than enough for us, and I also earn a fair bit from my online business."
"That’s for you two, but this is for the child. Just take it as I said."
"Then, thank you, Dad."
After the auntie made tea for them, Ivy invited Damian to sit. Damian said, "Ivy, have you thought more about going to work at the company, as I mentioned before?"
"Dad, I’m still not planning to. It’s too far from here to the company. Commuting every day would be inconvenient, and besides... Henry might not agree."
"I understand your concerns, but the reason I’m asking you to join the company is for Henry’s sake."
"For him?" Ivy wondered how that could be.
