Chapter 576: Chapter 496 Stop Talking Nonsense! (Second Update)

Danton had just hung up on his mother when his attendant’s call came through. Danton listened silently, and finally responded with a single "Hmm" before hanging up.

Danton turned to look at Yi Luowa, who was also watching him. His expression was grim.

"We found out whose men they are," Danton said in a low voice. "They’re remnants of my second uncle’s old faction. It’s been two years since my second uncle left, and yet they still want my life. Why is it that we’re family, but it’s come to this? Every time I think about these wretched things, life feels so pointless. Death might be better!"

Yi Luowa stepped forward. "Danton, you’re an adult now. No matter how much you don’t want to accept this, it happened, and you must bear it..."

Before she could finish, Yi Luowa’s expression changed drastically. She grabbed her phone and called Dapeng. "Dapeng, take your people and head to the international airport immediately to protect Her Majesty the Queen of Haotian... Wait a moment."

Yi Luowa turned to Danton. "Danton, call your mother right now and ask if she’s left the airport. If she hasn’t, have her go to the VIP lounge and stay put! Don’t let her walk around!"

Danton snapped back to his senses and dialed his mother’s number, his hands trembling the entire time.

The Queen of Haotian picked up the call quickly. Danton tried to suppress his emotions and asked in a steady tone, "Mom, have you left the airport yet?"

"I’m just about to leave."

"Don’t leave yet. I’m sending people to pick you up. Head to the VIP lounge now."

"Son, what’s going on?"

"Just a small problem. I’ll explain when we meet. For now, go to the VIP lounge immediately." Hearing his mother’s agreement, Danton nodded at Yi Luowa.

Yi Luowa moved away to speak with Dapeng over the phone. "She’s in the VIP lounge now. You and your team head over there immediately. Also, contact someone near the airport. If we have any of our people stationed there, have them protect the Haotian Queen right away."

After assigning tasks to Dapeng, Yi Luowa returned.

Danton hung up his call as well. "Luowa, my mom will be okay, right?"

"She’ll be fine. She wouldn’t travel without security. I’m just taking precautions to prevent any accidents." Yi Luowa frowned slightly. "Danton, I think staying at the hotel is still risky. Why don’t we have your mom stay at our house for now?"

Danton shook his head. "I can’t keep inconveniencing you. Yesterday, I didn’t listen to you and bought all that stuff because I didn’t want to burden you further. How about this: I’ll take my mom to stay at the apartment. Lend me some of your security personnel, and with the people on my side, it should be enough."

"Alright, I’ll call my mom and have her send some people over."

"Thank you, Luowa."

Yi Luowa gave him a small smile and called Tong Yao.

Tong Yao readily agreed and sent their family’s bodyguards after hanging up.

The bulletproof metal panels on the car windows rose quickly, allowing sunlight to filter in through the light haze.

As the vehicle looped around the traffic circle ahead, it began heading toward home.

The return trip was markedly less lively than when they had left earlier. Apart from resting with eyes closed, there was only the sound of ringing phones—call after call, one after another.

The moment they arrived at the capital city, both Dapeng and the Queen of Haotian called almost simultaneously.

"We’ve arrived!"

"We’ve arrived."

After taking their respective calls, Yi Luowa and Danton simultaneously exhaled deeply in relief.

Yi Luowa dropped Danton off at the entrance of his apartment. Only after watching him and his attendants enter did she return to her place with Mi Chenxuan.

Dapeng waited by the doorway, approaching Yi Luowa as she stepped out of the car. "Fourth sister-in-law, I didn’t want to worry you earlier, so I didn’t mention it over the phone. But there really was an ambush outside the airport. Thankfully, our people weren’t pushovers—they subdued them without a single gunshot."

"Where are they being held?"

"Taken to Shen Ying."

"I need to talk to my dad about this."

Yi Luowa thought for a moment and made a call to Long Che. After hearing her account, Long Che furrowed his brows slightly. "Leave this to me; I’ll handle it."

Once the call ended, Yi Luowa told Dapeng, "Dapeng, I still need you to keep an eye on things with Danton."

"I’ll head over right now," Dapeng said as he got back into the car.

Yi Luowa pursed her lips and looked at Mi Chenxuan. "Woke up early, only to end up back where we started. Let’s go in."

Mi Chenxuan chuckled. "I’ve realized something."

"What’s that?"

"When my fourth brother’s not around, you’re entirely capable of holding your own."

"That’s because I have all of you! With you here, what’s there to be afraid of?" Yi Luowa laughed as they stepped inside.

Tong Yao, upon seeing the two of them return, was momentarily stunned. "Why are you back already?"

"The Haotian Queen arrived..."

"Ran into some trouble on the way..."

Yi Luowa and Mi Chenxuan spoke simultaneously. Yi Luowa cast an annoyed look at Mi Chenxuan. "Can’t you start with the good news first?"

"Alright, let me start over." Mi Chenxuan grinned and sat playfully next to Tong Yao. "Auntie, the Haotian Queen arrived, so we had no choice but to come back."

"I figured she’d show up. If Danton were my son, I wouldn’t rest easy either." Tong Yao frowned slightly. "Now tell me what happened."

Yi Luowa, frowning, recounted the events to Tong Yao.

Tong Yao sighed. "Even with the culprit long gone, they can’t let it go. At least no one got hurt."

Yi Luowa pouted. "We’re clearly under divine protection. Don’t worry."

"How can I not worry! Before Rui’er comes back, none of you are allowed to go out." Massaging her temples, Tong Yao added, "With the Haotian Queen here, I need to pay her a visit. Otherwise, it’d be rude."

"Mom, take me with you! I’ve been looking forward to meeting her. I was about to go with Danton just now, but then I thought about how you’d definitely go see the Haotian Queen too. So, it’s better if I join you."

Tong Yao smiled wryly. "She’s always veiled; you’ll only get to see her eyes. Go change, and I’ll take you."

Yi Luowa smiled and nodded. Even if it was just her eyes, she wanted to see them.

As Yi Luowa and Tong Yao finished changing and prepared to leave, the butler rushed in. "Madam, Prince Danton and his mother have arrived."

Tong Yao froze for a moment. They certainly moved quickly.

Hearing that the Haotian Queen had arrived, Yi Luowa’s heart began racing uncontrollably. She instinctively grasped her mother-in-law’s hand, and Tong Yao gently patted the back of hers with a smile.

"She’s just another person. No need to be so nervous. Come, let’s go greet them."

Yi Luowa forced a nervous smile and nodded.

As the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law stepped out, Danton and his mother walked toward them side by side.

The Haotian Queen’s eyes locked onto Yi Luowa the moment she saw her standing next to Tong Yao. In that instant, her gaze widened in shock, and a sudden, inexplicable pain filled her chest.

Still veiled with a thin layer of gauze, the Haotian Queen revealed only her exquisitely beautiful eyes. Within those eyes, alongside the shock, was a deep sadness. Yi Luowa, looking into them, suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to cry.

"Mom, I told you, didn’t I? This is Sister Luowa!"

Danton’s words snapped both the Haotian Queen and Yi Luowa out of their trance.

The Queen finally shifted her gaze to Tong Yao, her voice steady as she spoke. "Lady Biyao, forgive my rudeness. Yi Luowa and Nancy look so alike that I was momentarily shaken."

Smiling, Tong Yao took hold of the Queen’s hand. "When I first saw Nancy, I was just as startled. Come, let’s talk inside."

As the Haotian Queen and Tong Yao entered ahead, Yi Luowa turned to Danton and asked softly, "Where’s your sister? I’ve been dying to meet her."

"She got airsick and was terribly unwell. My mom wanted to rush over and thank you all, so she left my sister behind," Danton chuckled. "But you really gave my mom a scare just now."

"You’re so wicked!" Yi Luowa said with an exasperated smile as she followed Danton inside.

Once inside, the Queen’s gaze kept gravitating toward Yi Luowa. After Yi Luowa finally sat down, the Queen glanced at Tong Yao and smiled. "You kept this quite the secret."

Laughing, Tong Yao replied, "I wanted to tell you at the banquet that day, but it was such a joyous occasion with you reuniting with your daughter. If I had mentioned it then, wouldn’t it have dampened the mood?"

The Queen smiled and held Tong Yao’s hand. "Not at all—this is a delightful surprise! It’s truly incredible to think there’s someone in this world who looks so similar."

Sitting next to Yi Luowa, Danton pouted. "I’m starting to think my mom might’ve gotten it wrong back then—like, maybe she actually gave birth to two daughters but thought it was just one."

"Don’t talk nonsense! How could someone make a mistake like that!" Yi Luowa chuckled and playfully tapped Danton on the hand.
