Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 514 - 442: Having a Virtuous Wife, the Husband Avoids Misfortune (Part 2)
Tong Airui narrowed his eyes dangerously and asked coldly, "Who are you? Why do you have Dapeng’s phone?"
"Hahaha... you can’t even recognize my voice? It’s me, Sato Teng!"
Tong Airui gripped the phone tightly, "What have you done to my men?"
"Whether they’re esteemed guests or prisoners depends entirely on you, Captain Airui. I couldn’t care less..."
Tong Airui clenched his teeth and said, "If anything happens to my people, I will make you all another Jin Chang!"
"As long as you withdraw from this war, nothing will happen to them."
Tong Airui reached into Yi Luowa’s pocket.
Yi Luowa quickly handed over her phone to him.
On her phone, Tong Airui swiftly composed and sent a text message.
"Captain Airui?" Sato Hara, noticing Tong Airui remained silent, spoke up, clearly dissatisfied.
"I’m here!" Tong Airui snapped back at him, "I need to think this through properly!"
Sato Hara chuckled lightly, "Then you’d better think fast. Among these people, there are those close to you! For instance, the owner of this phone, Lin Zhanpeng, isn’t he the son of your seventh uncle Lin Jiang? And there’s another one with the surname Yao... what’s his name again? I forgot. But he’s the son of your sixth uncle Yao Wenjun, right?"
"This isn’t just my matter alone. I need to call an emergency meeting. Before we come to a decision, if even a single hair on their heads is harmed, I will reduce you all to ash. Let your citizens accompany my brothers in death. Even if they die, it will be worth it!"
After laying down his threat, Tong Airui hung up the phone decisively.
Uneasy, Yi Luowa asked, "Has something happened to Dapeng and the others?"
"Mhm. With their skills, they wouldn’t get caught so easily. Even if something happened, they wouldn’t reveal their real identities to Sato Hara. There’s a mole! There must be a mole!" Tong Airui grabbed Yi Luowa’s hand and quickly headed back to the office building.
Yi Luowa silently followed. Her legs weren’t as long as his, so she trotted to keep up. At a moment like this, she would never slow him down.
Once the two were inside the office, Tong Airui pressed the intercom and issued his first command upon entering the room.
Soon, Sheng Duheng and several senior officers hurried in.
"Airui, what’s going on?" Sheng Duheng asked urgently, noticing Tong Airui’s grim expression.
"Dapeng and Haozi have been caught by Sato Ai. Sato Hara is using this to threaten me, demanding we withdraw from the battlefield."
Sheng Duheng slammed a hand on the table, "We absolutely cannot compromise with them. Station heavily armed forces and exert pressure; we must rescue Dapeng and Zheng Hao!"
Tong Airui paced a few steps, then suddenly stopped and said sharply, "No compromise, that’s for sure! I’ve already sent people to rescue them. Our current priority is to surround them with overwhelming force. Once Dapeng and the others are rescued, cease all negotiations immediately. Even if they seek reconciliation, I will not give them that chance!"
Everyone present, seeing that Tong Airui was truly enraged, held their breath and dared not speak further.
Standing behind the others, Yi Luowa frowned slightly, "Captain Airui, you just said this isn’t just your matter alone. Given the circumstances, shouldn’t you first discuss this with King Muta and the Prime Minister? We conduct the rescue, but matters of state should be handled by King Muta and the Prime Minister—it’s more appropriate."
Tong Airui shot her a glance.
Sheng Duheng quickly nodded, "Airui, I agree with Yi’s suggestion as well."
"I agree too," someone else chimed in, and soon, the others followed suit, all voicing support for Yi Luowa’s opinion.
Tong Airui raised an eyebrow faintly, "Just now, I did let my anger get the better of me and said the wrong thing. You all head out to make preparations, I’ll call King Muta and the Prime Minister right now."
"Good, take it easy. Discuss things carefully." Sheng Duheng gave Tong Airui a firm pat on the shoulder.
Tong Airui smirked subtly. Once everyone left, he picked up the phone.
Yi Luowa approached, "Call King Muta first!"
"I know. Thanks for the reminder just now."
Yi Luowa pressed her lips together and quietly sat down on the sofa.
Tong Airui dialed King Muta’s number and recounted everything that had happened. King Muta was so furious that he was audibly panting, "Does your father know about this?"
"I haven’t told him yet. If he finds out about Dapeng and Zheng Hao, I’ll get scolded to death," Tong Airui said with a wry smile. "Not to mention my father—just hearing this myself, I could barely handle it. I even said something rash earlier."
King Muta was slightly taken aback, "Your temper is much better than your father’s, and you’re still capable of saying rash things?"
"I said, once Dapeng and the others are rescued, cease all negotiations immediately. Even if they reconcile, I won’t give them the chance! I’ll obliterate them!" Tong Airui frowned slightly. "Uncle Muta, I’m sorry. I spoke beyond my authority."
King Muta scolded, "Why are you apologizing to me? What, are you trying to distance yourself from me with that kind of talk?"
Tong Airui chuckled softly.
King Muta said sternly, "That’s exactly what I feel too. They’ve gone too far! Negotiating with me on one hand, while threatening you with your brothers’ lives on the other? This cannot stand. Airui, what are the chances you’ll get them out?"
Tong Airui sighed, "I’m only sixty percent confident. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be so anxious."
"Whatever it takes, we must get them out! No need to consult your father—let’s you and I settle this ourselves. Once they’re safe, we start the war. Regardless of whether Haotian’s side gets involved, this time, we lead the offensive!"
"Yes! Thank you, Uncle Muta. But I still need to apologize to my father and uncles. They’ve followed my father for so many years without incident. If their kids get in trouble under my watch, I won’t have the face to see my father or my uncles."
"Airui, what if I talk to your father and uncles about this? You handle your end while I explain it to them."
"Thank you!" Tong Airui truly dreaded discussing this matter with his father.
Once King Muta heard his agreement, he hung up the phone.
Tong Airui’s deep gaze landed on Yi Luowa’s face. "Thank goodness you reminded me in time. When I was on the phone with King Muta, his other line kept ringing."
Yi Luowa smiled, "People don’t always mean harm, but a single word can sow distrust between two otherwise peaceful parties. Distrust grows into division. Be more cautious with your words in the future..."
Tong Airui nodded solemnly, "Understood. I’ll listen to Advisor Yi." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
On King Muta’s end, someone really had called—not to tattle, but to recount the events without any emotional inflection.
After hearing this, King Muta laughed heartily, "So that’s why the kid called to explain one sentence in such detail—his little wife must be overthinking!"
"Advisor Yi will undoubtedly be a great help to Airui in the future!"
"A virtuous wife is a husband’s blessing! I’m starting to envy Long Che more and more—what a wise wife, well-raised children, and now a son who’s found such a capable spouse... Speaking of Long Che, I need to give him a call. You focus on assisting Airui with his work!"
"Yes, sir!"
The person hung up and rushed back to the operations command room, knowing it would be another sleepless night.
Once the troops on that end were deployed, Tong Airui finally dialed Dapeng’s number. He intended to have a "heart-to-heart" with Sato Hara!
While talking on the phone, Tong Airui scribbled a few bold characters on paper and showed them to Yi Luowa.
You need to rest!
Yi Luowa shook her head.
Tong Airui then wrote: I’m stalling for time on the rescue. This call will take a while. Go to sleep, now!
Yi Luowa poured him a cup of tea and mouthed: I’ll sleep when I’m tired. Don’t worry about me.
Tong Airui drew a frustrated frowny face on the paper.
Yi Luowa smiled and gently took the pen from his hand.
Tong Airui continued delaying the conversation for thirty minutes straight.
Sato Hara finally began to lose patience, "Tong Airui, are you playing games with me? After all this time, have you still not reached a decision?"
"Sato Hara, I’m just as anxious as you. I’m still waiting on others to finalize a decision. Unlike you, I have superiors to answer to."
Sato Hara smirked, "You could be like me—if that’s what you wanted. If you’re interested, I can help you make it happen."
Tong Airui chuckled lightly, "I lack that kind of ambition. I can barely tolerate the position I have now, let alone something even higher."
"Ha! So, you’re just a coward!"
Tong Airui sneered, "You’re absolutely right—I am a coward."
His gaze landed on the computer screen, watching as dozens of small red dots converged on a single location. A faint smile appeared on his face.
Yi Luowa noticed this and walked over quietly.
Tong Airui pointed at the red dots on the screen to show her.
Yi Luowa pressed her pink lips together. She could feel the pounding of her own heartbeat as she silently prayed, hoping Dapeng and the others would return safely.
"Tong Airui, I’ve heard your wife is a beautiful woman. You’re a lucky man!" Even over the phone, the bitterness in Sato Hara’s tone was evident.
Tong Airui’s hand gripped the mouse tightly, veins bulging instantly.
