Chapter 56: Chapter 56 - Exploring And Official Start

Logan woke up at 6 AM the next morning and glanced at his watch.

’Still no update from Edric on the Mana Enforcement Bureau,’ he thought, his head aching slightly.

’Robert wanted to spar with me today,’ Logan thought, sitting up. ’But he’s probably still sleeping after last night’s party.’

Sending Robert a message, Logan turned his watch off.

He got out of bed slowly and washed himself before deciding what he’d do until he got a message back from Robert.

’I’ll explore the university until Robert is awake,’ he thought, putting on some casual clothes. ’And I can’t forget to pick my school uniform up.’

Logan stepped out of his room, walking through the quiet hallways as he started exploring the school.

He saw a lot more people than he’d expected, but everyone he passed was quiet.

’I’ve come across tens of people,’ he thought. ’All from different years and all respecting each other.’

He walked through a somewhat empty corridor, guided by a small map on his watch with highlighted areas.

’Let’s go check out more training areas first,’ he thought, glancing at his map.

After descending three sets of stone stairs, Logan arrived back at the same area he was at yesterday. Instead of stopping at the smaller training rooms, he continued walking.

’Amazing,’ he nodded, glancing at the hundreds of VR-simulator rooms and areas with gym devices behind the casual rooms. ’The devices are pretty much the same as the ones at home.’

Walking past the devices, he saw many were already taken by other students and therefore locked.

Descending another set of stairs, Logan found even larger training rooms.

’These seem to be for gold cores,’ he thought, glancing at the requirements. ’No wonder our student IDs need to be updated on our core level.’

Students needed to raise their student ID against special scanners embedded in the wall in order to temporarily hire a training room.

’I can’t descend any further?’ Logan thought, surprised as he was blocked by a door at the end of the hallway. ’Seems like it require an higher level core to go any further.’

After contemplating for a moment, Logan figured out the reason.

’The larger the rooms, the fewer training rooms there are,’ he thought. ’And it would be annoying if low-level cores decide to claim them or the other training devices there.’

Nodding, Logan turned around.

He walked through countless corridors, finding a massive library, blacksmith forges, alchemy labs—he even visited the technology sector in which groups of twenty students were researching and building what appeared to be a flying shuttle.

’As expected,’ Logan nodded. This was fully what he’d expected from the best university in the world. ’I think I’ve already seen over a thousand students, and it’s only around 7 AM.’

’Only the best and the most dedicated are gathered here,’ he thought, smiling.

Everywhere he’d gone, he’d found people working hard, studying, or locked rooms indicating people were there.

Logan glanced at his watch, showing him it was already 12 AM.

’Right, food,’ he thought, glancing at the map. ’I skipped the breakfast delivery, but the lunch delivery should’ve just gotten there.’

There were two dining options at the university for elite students. The first delivered meals directly to their rooms, while the second was the shared cafeteria.

Students from common backgrounds only had access to the cafeteria unless they paid extra for in-room deliveries.

After half an hour, Logan had finally gotten back to his room.

’It really is a massive place,’ he thought, closing his door behind him.

Exactly half an hour later, Logan opened his door after hearing a knock.

In front of him floated a small sphere, on top of it sat a metal dome covering a plate with special engravings etched inside.

"Thank you," Logan said automatically, picking the large plate off the floating sphere.

Without wasting a second, the sphere flew back at lightning-fast speeds, disappearing from Logan’s eyes within seconds after it turned a corner.

"Damn," Logan muttered, closing the door while holding the food in his hands.

Taking off the lid, Logan found a fat steak with all kinds of herbs surrounding it.

He nodded slowly. ’I was worried the food would be a lot worse here compared to Edric’s,’ he thought. ’Looks like I worried for nothing.’

After devouring his lunch, Logan sat down on his couch and took out his hologram.

Pressing on his private folder, he opened a digital version of the Flaming Body manual. He’d kept the real one safe inside his mana safe at home.

’I still can’t make any sense of the scribbles written down past stage 3,’ he thought, shaking his head.

He’d made detailed notes on the second and third stages, which he could only use after reaching Silver and Gold Core respectively.

But that was it.

’I’ll have to pick up some more combat techniques here,’ Logan thought, frowning. ’I currently only have two techniques, which just isn’t enough.’

The difference between simple mana manipulation and actual techniques was quite significant. Simple mana manipulation usually took longer and was more mana-intensive, whereas techniques were like muscle memory but then with mana.

The more you use the muscle, the faster it is and the less energy it requires to do what you want.

Glancing at the final page of his digital manual, the fifth stage of the technique, Logan closed the hologram.

’I intentionally left out the author’s personal stories,’ he thought. ’No matter how safe my own private folders are, if something happens and people somehow read through it, they’ll ask many questions which I have no answers to.’

While reading, a message from Robert popped up on the top of his screen, confirming that he was finally awake.

Standing up, Logan glanced out his window before changing his clothes into training clothes and walking through his doors.

Like that, two days flew by with Logan settling into a new training routine which included occasional spars with Grant or Robert. novelbuddy-cσ๓

"Today’s the official start," Robert said excitedly from beside him.

"I hope the speech isn’t too long," Grant yawned.

At the moment, Logan found himself in a queue for the official opening ceremony together with around 2000 other students.
