Chapter 121: Chapter 121 - B-Rank Splitclaw

The massive tsunami had reached the shoreline, carrying many sea creatures within it as it rampaged towards them.

Logan turned pale as he saw the sheer size of it.

Before the wave could fully collapse onto the battlefield, five massive beams shot down from the sky.

Ice and wind mana gathered in the air, slamming into the base and body of the tsunami.

A deafening crack echoed through the battlefield as the bottom of the tsunami slowly froze solid with countless sea creatures inside, while the top kept getting blasted back by the wind mana.

’The S-ranks!’ Logan thought, glancing at the figures in the sky.

For a second, it looked like the entire tsunami stopped.

The mercenaries all around him started cheering, their shouts echoing across the battlefield as their spirits reignited at the sight of the frozen monsters.

’They really stopped it...’ Logan thought, blinking in disbelief.

But something felt wrong.

His eyes fell on both sides of the massive frozen wave.

A huge part of the wave hadn’t frozen solid—wind blasts had simply knocked it off course.

Now it was curving along the frozen parts of the wave, heading straight towards them.

Still large. Still fast.

But most of all. Still filled with numerous sea creatures.

’...You’ve got to be kidding me,’ Logan mumbled, eyes darting up to the S-ranks for support.

The ground trembled beneath his feet as the cheers behind him went silent.

He looked up, hoping just for a second that they’d step in again.

But they were already locked in battle.

Far in the distance, the S-ranks clashed with the giant crab, their attacks lighting up the sky like fireworks.

’They aren’t able to help,’ Logan thought, despair on his face.

Logan clenched his jaw as the wave tore through the beach and the sounds of crashing water filled his ears.

He quickly activated his flaming body technique just as the wave’s shadow fell over him.

The water slammed into him like a truck.

The world spun around him as the water dragged him along.

Logan’s vision blurred from the impact and the thick steam swirling around him.

’Damn it,’ he thought, fumbling around in the water.

It hadn’t done any real damage to his body, but he couldn’t get himself under control while submerged.

Finally, the wave came to a halt a few dozen feet away from the barrier, washing him up on the mud as the water pulled away again.

’Ugh,’ Logan thought, quickly forcing himself up.

Despite the ringing in his ears, he could hear screams from other mercenaries all around him.

’What’s going on?’ he mumbled, focusing his eyes.

That’s when he noticed a large shadow looming over him.

Logan looked up and froze. A massive red lobster-like creature stood over him, one of its claws inches away from his chest.

Before he could react, the creature struck.

Its spear-like claw shot forward, stabbing into his stomach with terrifying force.

His skinsuit barely held it together, protecting his disguise suit and his actual body. But the impact lifted him clean off the ground.

He let out a grunt as the creature slammed him backwards, sending him flying through the air.

The world blurred again in front of his eyes.

His back slammed into the city barrier before he collapsed to the ground.

Pain exploded through his body as he fell on his arms and knees.

He could feel it.

The skinsuit that was supposed to protect him from any harm no longer had any mana crystals inside it.

Logan forced himself up, glaring at the creature that had done this.

The lobster-like creature had two claws, one extremely sharp while the other seemed like a large shield.

’A B-rank?’

It screeched and lunged forward again, its sharp claw in front of its body.

Logan’s eyes lit up, clenching his glaive tightly as mana poured out of his core.

His body changed from glowing red to a bright yellow color as he activated his advanced flaming body technique.

He swung his glaive with all his might towards the approaching claw.

Logan let out a shout as they collided, forcing himself to push through it with all his strength.

As the flame on his glaive grew fiercer, the creature screeched and stumbled back, its claw retreating as smoke flew off them.

Logan panted heavily, his eyes quickly scanning the battlefield around him.

What he saw made him desperate.

Countless bodies laid silently on the ground, creatures even tearing some of them apart.

Mercenaries who hadn’t died yet coughed violently as they stood up alone and confused with countless creatures rapidly closing in on them.

Logan watched as a smaller lobster pierced the throat of a disoriented mercenary two dozen feet away from him.

’...This isn’t possible,’ he thought.

That’s when he noticed something more horrifying.

Far in the distance, a mercenary was banging on the barrier, desperately shouting for someone to let him in.

But... nothing happened.

Logan could only watch as a fishman’s spear stabbed through the man’s ribcage and lifted him above his mouth.

’The barrier... it’s sealed off,’ he thought, unable to understand what was going on.

He didn’t get the chance to think any further as the B-rank lobster in front of him made another move.

Its claw sparkled from lightning as it dashed towards him.

Quickly jumping to the side, Logan poured mana into his glaive and sent a large flaming arc flying through the air.

The lobster quickly raised its shield-like claw, blocking the flaming arc completely.

Logan could only see a slight scorched mark on its shield as the creature lunged towards him again.

’I need to kill it quickly,’ Logan thought, jumping to the side again.

Watching many more creatures advance in the distance, Logan knew he didn’t have a lot of time to deal with this B-rank.

’Even if it costs me the majority of my mana,’ he thought desperately. ’I need to get rid of it now before I get completely surrounded.’

He poured a ton of undead mana into his glaive, mixing it with the fire mana already inside.

Quickly dashing forward, Logan swung his glaive down on the creature’s sharp claw.

The claw sizzled and cracked as the dark-yellow flames melted through it.

Logan quickly spun around, feeling his mana drain from his body as he jumped towards the lobster’s head.

The lobster screeched, its shield-like claw snapping open.

Its large claw snapped towards Logan, lightning crackling as it firmly grabbed him out of the air. ƒreewebɳovel.com

"Damn it..." Logan hissed, the claw squeezing tightly around his middle.
