Beyond The Crimson Gate-Chapter 39: Axel’s Rage
"You need to bring him back!!" Axel slammed his palms onto the table where Miss Cayenne’s seat had been.
Miss Cayenne’s eyes trailed his figure with a lazy smirk, "No." Her short response made Axel grit his teeth.
"Even if he wasn’t a disposable soldier and was already infused, I still wouldn’t attempt to bring him back." Her eyes turned cold.
"And watch your tone with me, don’t mistake my indulgence for familiarity and kindness for naivety."
Axel’s hand ran through his hair, and he let out a shaky breath. He couldn’t lose his best friend as well.
His hand fiddled with the communication chip that Mr. Stone had given him and he was about to call in his favour with Miss Cayenne when she spoke.
"Also, before you think to call in your favour, let me make something clear." She stood up from her chair.
She leaned in, "I will take it as you using your favor, I will attempt to bring him back and I’ll ’accidentally’ fail." Her voice whispered in his ears.
"And not only would he be stranded, but you would have used up your favor. My advice? Accept your loss." She sat down and brought out her tablet.
Axel’s eyes twitched slightly before he walked out of her office calmly.
As Miss Cayenne watched him leave, she tapped on a hidden earpiece in her ears.
"So what do you think?" Her voice was distant and void of emotion.
"Well there’s hope," the person on the other end replied. "We’ve studied this before."
Miss Cayenne placed her tablet aside and closed her eyes, "The beast harboring the dimension anchor will find him. If he can kill it, he’ll find his way back."
Her eyes became colder, "If."
She took in a shallow breath, tapping on her earpiece twice. "Send some people to watch Axel Romero. Make it discreet and him unaware."

Axel’s slow steps resounded in the halls. He entered Lab 0C-beta and found Simon working on another project.
With his air, Simon had managed to create another Beast Infusion Serum. It turned out that those took a lot of time to prepare.
This time spanned from a couple of wea few eks to months.
"Adam, you’re back." Simon waved at him without bothering to look up.
Axel shifted slightly, "How difficult would it be to bring someone back from Dimension Zero?" His words made Simon freeze.
"Aaron, are you insane?! Such an attempt is beyond dangerous!" His words piqued Axel’s curiosity.
The ’danger’ could be why Miss Cayenne was so insistent on not attempting.
"What exactly is the danger of doing that?" Simon sighed and placed his tools on the ground.
"Here’s something you don’t know and probably shouldn’t for a while but since you’re a Red clearance level Researcher, it won’t matter."
Axel decided not to correct the man.
"Here’s the primary thing. Time in Dimension Zero moves about ten times faster than in ours. What is one day there is ten days there."
Axel started to process the implications of his words.
"When scientists tried to open the first gate, Dimension Gate One, the difference in time implemented a difference in space, which meant a difference in matter and organisms." Simon sighed and rubbed his eyes.
He walked closer to Axel.
"We had closed the gate on our end but it would take longer to close on their end, a beast came through, and long story short, a gate formed"
Axel’s eyes widened as he understood everything. The gates that unleashed the beasts were opened by the military.
The beasts that had eliminated Kale’s family and had indirectly claimed his were because of the military.
Millions of deaths, destruction, and suffering were all unleashed by the military!!
Axel’s eyes glazed over with a cold fury, ’And now, my best friend is doomed because of the military.’
He took in a deep breath and his eyes became calm and impassive, "That makes sense. We can’t open a gate because it might create yet another gate or even more."
Simon walked back to his station, "Exactly."
Axel excused himself and headed to his room. Upon entry, he slammed his fist into the wall.
Millions paid the price for their first mistake, and now they plan to use thousands or even millions to fix it.
Countless thoughts surged in Axel’s mind and he ran to his Micro Research Lab.
He tapped on the notes app and began listing down things he already knew and things that otherwise didn’t add up.
A sly smile spread on his lips, "The advanced technology, beast infusions, and all these. I was wondering how they had managed to accomplish this so soon."
The answer was simple. They hadn’t.
Time flowed faster in Dimension Zero. All they had to do was send a bunch of willing, self-sacrificial researchers to work on decades of technology in a tenth of that time.
’I can’t even begin to imagine how many people they used to have to achieve even a fraction of what they have at the moment.’
A sickening disgust filled Axel as he thought about it. The military destroyed, used, and destroyed some more.
He wouldn’t even be surprised if they had intentionally unleashed the beasts for some hidden agenda.
With his rage came a new, even more frightening calm, "I can’t go rogue now, I’ll simply be squashed. I guess I can only rise in ranks until I can destroy the military from within."
Axel no longer cared for the state of the world. The only person he cared for might die and once he did, he would be all alone.
He had lost everyone else and for Kale, he would happily let the world burn.
