Chapter 413: Eternal Torment

"Foolish sister of mine. Why did you persist so much when you’re still capable of death?"

As Angela spoke, all of Daniella’s wounds vanished as if they had never existed, though she still didn’t awaken, her soul too strained to regain consciousness.

The woman sighed, her gaze sweeping over the lot around her, and instantly, their entire lives flashed before her eyes like a filmstrip of images.

She saw through everything that had led to this moment, and naturally, she identified which Supremes and Grand Supremes had ordered the pursuit of Daniella.

Once she’d extracted the information she needed from them, she erased them from existence with a single pulse of cosmic energy.

Rising to her feet, Angela clenched her fist, and several Supremes, still reeling from the shock and soul damage from moments earlier, began choking.

Those who had tried to flee were pulled back, and those in distant regions of space collapsed where they stood.

The Grand Supreme who had intended to speak when Jamie arrived was the first to writhe in agony. He was but a clone of a higher existence outside the Zanerth universe, but he screamed as quickly as the others.

Not just the clone, but the real entity, billions of parsecs away, was affected.

Angela had instantly traced the link between the clone and his true body, attacking directly through it and seizing his soul.

Then, Angela cast a ’magic’ spell.

She flicked her fingers, and a series of spell circles appeared and vanished faster than any eye could make out a single symbol in them.

Cosmic energy distorted reality, ripping a hole in the fabric of existence to reveal the void beyond.

The true nothingness from which the Dead Zone’s pseudo-nonexistence had been born. The same void Jamie could manipulate to erase existences.

Descend, Spawn of the Void god.

At Angela’s command, a tide of slimy, wriggling black creatures with a dull gleam poured out in waves, and before the horrified eyes of everyone, they began devouring the restrained Supremes where they were.

Tiny sounds echoed in the vacuum as these powerhouses, who had lived billions of years, controlled entire universes, and influenced countless beings, were eaten alive by ’baby’ Cosmic Horrors without the slightest ability to resist, their flesh chewed and digested.

In no time, they were reduced to misshapen lumps that bore no resemblance to what they had originally been.

But they weren’t dead.

They were very much alive.

Angela snapped her fingers, and with a flash of light, their bodies were fully restored, every wound healed without a single scratch.

The Supremes’ eyes went wide as they felt their bodies knit back together, every tear mended, every injury sealed, yet the wriggling black ’voidlings’ still clung to them, biting and gnawing at their flesh.

Horror contorted their faces as realisation dawned.

n-nno!

I can’t die here!

This isn’t how—!

They screamed, trying to escape, waves of cosmic energy rupturing space as they unleashed their Dictums.

Reality bent under the force of their commands as they fought to break free, beams of law energy and cosmic fire streaking outward in brilliant patterns.

But all attempts failed the instant Angela snapped her fingers, and small, intricate magic circles appeared on each of their chests, causing every technique to misfire.

The mindless voidlings continued to bite without pause, tearing and consuming their flesh and energy with tiny jaws that ignored all defence barriers, every shred of damage unmitigable, and screams of terror filled the vacuum around them.

Angela was the ’Witch of Chaos’, and with that title came the power to command the spawn of Chaos, the madness-inducing entities of the void whose presence twisted sanity, bending minds and reality alike into terror.

But, as mentioned earlier, these were ’babies’, so they only triggered an instinctive sense of revulsion in people. Nothing like instant madness...for now.

What seemed more likely to break minds wasn’t the Cosmic Horrors, but Angela herself, as she snapped her fingers and spoke two words that sent a chill through every spine.

Enchant: Infinity.

!!

Even without an understanding of magic, it was clear as day what Angela had just done.

This cycle of devouring and restoration would continue endlessly, and they would never find the relief of death so long as Angela’s enchantment remained active.

Then, cupping her palm and sweeping it through the air, Angela used the power of Chaotic Creation to conjure a pocket dimension of darkness, trapping them inside, their screams cut off as they vanished into its depths.

While everyone watched in stunned silence, Jamie just sighed and shook his head, fully expecting this.

Angela’s family had been the only motivation behind everything she’d done since the Mercury Galaxy Disaster, so it was only natural that anyone who had threatened her twin would face eternal torment.

For a moment after trapping them, Angela’s arm seemed to turn transparent, and Jamie immediately noticed, his eyes narrowing.

’As I expected. Those guys were Supreme Realms existences. Even for her, that had to take a toll. She didn’t fully regenerate, after all.’

Jamie pressed his palm to his face and thought about how to handle this mess, and in the process, the memory of a certain location unexpectedly came to mind.

But the instant it did, he flinched, his eyes snapping up to meet Angela’s shimmering eyes staring right at him.

’Fucking hell. I forgot about that ridiculous intuition of hers. She can’t read my mind, but I’m pretty damn sure she knows exactly what I’m thinking right now.’

However...

"What? You got your revenge, right? How about you heal the others? There’s a situation now, and we can’t have our powerhouses wounded."

Jamie acted oblivious as he spoke, stepping forward and sliding his hands into his pockets as he added,

"Besides, a good number of them actually sent people to protect Daniella, you know? Are you really going to be so ungrateful?"

He delivered the last part with a hint of derision in his voice, and at that, Angela waved her hand, sending a bullet of cosmic energy straight at his head.

Jamie reached out and caught it, absorbing the energy as he raised an eyebrow and asked, "You sure that’s a wise choice? Energy’s not exactly a luxury for you now, is it?"

"..."

Angela glared at him silently, but Jamie maintained his expression, the standoff lasting for several seconds.

Eventually, Angela clicked her tongue and looked away, a wave of cosmic energy rippling outward in all directions and weaving through the bodies of everyone present, inscribing a restoration spell circle on the backs of those whose souls had been damaged by her earlier outburst.

The circle consumed their own energy to restore the barriers around their souls, and just as she did that, Jamie turned behind him and spoke.

"Ah. We’ve got incoming."

He stepped to the side just as the space behind where he’d been standing tore open and a crimson light shot straight toward Angela.

Angela turned at the same moment, her arms instinctively parting as a figure collided with her and pulled her into a tight hug.

She staggered back slightly from the force of the hug, her arms gradually closing around the woman holding her, a small, fond smile curling on her lips as she muttered,

"It’s been so long, and you’re still a crybaby, Olivia."

Olivia didn’t even register the words, burying herself into her mother’s chest and hugging her silently, gripping tightly as if letting go for even a moment might make her vanish entirely.

A moment later, John stepped out of the spatial rift, followed closely by Richard, sweat beading his brow from the effort of maintaining a one-way spatial channel all the way from their previous location.

The exhaustion was evident, yet it vanished from his face the instant his eyes met his mother’s, a clear confirmation that their senses hadn’t deceived them.

But just before he could speak, Jamie’s voice rang out.

"Now then, not to be a spoilsport, but while you guys can have your reunion, this isn’t exactly the best place for it now, don’t you think?"

With both hands in his pockets, he shrugged and added, "I’ve got a much better place in mind where this can happen."

His gaze then shifted to Daniella on the ground. "And it also has a bed where we can keep her. The floor isn’t exactly the best place to sleep, you know?"

As soon as he finished, he pulled his hands from his pockets and slammed them together, cosmic energy erupting from his body and enveloping everyone nearby.

He turned his gaze upward, about to call his brother’s name, but stopped, then looked toward Sarina.

"Please handle the dispersal of our gathered spectators and meet us on Estea when you’re done."

Turning back, he addressed Angela.

"Don’t resist. Unless you want your kids to fall between the seams of space."

The moment he spoke, he slid his palms together, and an azure light engulfed him, the four Cathedrals, and Miranda, and they all vanished.
