Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 342: Interlude 3- THEIR Observations
Far beyond the ginormous, over hundred-billion-lightyear-wide sphere of cosmic energy drifting through a sea of dark matter and cosmic energy that was the Zanerth Universe, an existence watched the defeat of the undead ASB with impassive eyes.
They wore a black collared shirt beneath a matching overcoat adorned with black buttons. A grey mask, featuring a single eyehole on the left side, concealed their face. Through that lone opening, a spiral eye was visible, each ring within it glowing a different colour.
Their impractically long black hair spilt over their shoulders and below their feet, and their nails stretched just shy of being called claws.
"I see...so Heilong failed."
The words left their lips without a hint of emotion.
"First Ikerth, and now Heilong. It seems dragons are destined to forever disappoint me."
They spoke with a sigh, shaking their head before crossing their arms. Their gaze shifted back to the Zanerth Universe, locking onto the Nephalem who, from halfway across its vast expanse, casually exerted her Authority over its laws of death.
Barely three seconds passed before the woman murmured something and turned her eyes in their direction, forcing them to immediately avert their gaze to avoid being traced.
Turning their gaze back toward the direction of the Pinecone Galaxy, they remained silent for a moment before speaking to themselves once more.
"Though Heilong failed, his actions allowed me to discover valuable intel. Something is definitely wrong with Jamie Westley’s power.
The fact that he didn’t immediately sense my gaze at such a short distance, while the Nephalem, who’s supposedly weaker than him, did, is confirmation enough."
With that single observation, they casually uncovered what was currently Jamie’s third-greatest secret. While they hadn’t yet pieced together that it had been stolen, it wouldn’t take much longer to arrive at that conclusion.
After all, both the records of Jamie’s power they’d seen, and what they’d personally witnessed over the past few million years since they came into existence made it obvious. The threat posed by the ASB should’ve been ended in an instant, with no more effort than a snap of Jamie’s fingers.
They had seen him bring Supreme Realm Existences to their knees with a mere glance, so an undead Half-Primogenial wasn’t something he should have had an issue with.
"It only took a few minutes, but even that was too long."
More than that, in the eyes of this being, Jamie’s presence felt weak.
At present, following the defeat of the undead ASB, Jamie had recovered power up to the level of a Monarch Realm Existence, the highest peak within the universe, unsurpassable without first attaining some form of Cosmic Superiority.
But it wasn’t that Monarch-level power they considered weak.
Jamie’s spatial perception allowed him to sense the existence of beings, the ’space’ they occupied in the space-time continuum, as well as the flow of ’time’ they experienced. And because of his Higher Dimensionality, he could, quite literally, see through them if he so chose.
This existence had a similar ability, though theirs operated differently from the norm.
Then again, one had to keep in mind that this being was quite literally OUTSIDE the Zanerth Universe, positioned billions of parsecs away, and without any specialized means or powers, they were watching events unfold INSIDE a galaxy within Zanerth.
To put it simply, it was like someone standing outside a house being able to see what was happening in the dressing room inside someone’s bedroom, without peering through a window or using any kind of equipment.
Normal? What could possibly be normal about them?
For most beings with spatial perception abilities, Jamie either appeared as a concentrated mass of energy or as a blank void, an area completely unobservable, due to their limitation of perceiving space in only three directions.
But to this existence, while Jamie’s presence still appeared as a dense field of cosmic energy they couldn’t directly see through, that energy grew noticeably weaker the more directions of space they layered into their perception.
"For the level of power I estimated him to possess, which should exceed even my own current state, it’s far too weak," they murmured.
"But oh well, I should avert my gaze. Even if something is wrong with him, if I stare too long, he might notice.
According to ■■■■■■■’s records, even back when he was just ten years old, unable to perceive universal laws, he could still sense when someone was watching him from a separate space."
Floating in the vast void, their body endlessly buffeted by galaxy-scale torrents of cosmic energy each passing second, the existence calmly began evaluating their losses and gains.
"Pinecone was a failure. I also lost a valuable piece in that Amorphous Space Beast, and the dragons are no longer of any use to me. A fair number of Primogenials and Phantasmals were wiped out by that vampire servant of the Hybrid as well.
Then there’s the discovery that Westley holds authority over the Beast of the END I was considering approaching, and over that Undead, Astragrim. Reports say that Undead is just one of five on its level, but none of the others have been located even after extensive searching. Which means... they must be outside the universe.
Still..."
They opened their palm, and a tesseract materialized within it as they continued speaking.
"While the loss of the Amphitheatre of Eternity’s Core is admittedly vexing, the chaos Heilong stirred up drew the attention of the Hybrids long enough for me to make my move."
Raising their other hand, they began counting off on their fingers, one for each Hybrid whose attention they had successfully diverted. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"The Violet Wolf and that Nephalem were both focused on Pinecone, where Westley was. The Cathedral’s eldest is still chasing the false Universal threat I released into the western region of the Universe.
As for the other two Cathedrals, they were already preoccupied with their own matters. I didn’t even need to intervene, and rightly so, since forcing their attention might’ve backfired.
While they were all distracted, I was able to condense this tesseract."
A dry chuckle slipped from their lips after the words left them.
"Funny how Westley’s own actions ended up blinding him to mine. If he’d just allowed that summoner’s plan to go through, he might’ve uncovered the traces of Xelvan technology left behind in Pinecone.
But alas... his mere presence disrupted the scheme, and with its failure, his only lead on what I’m doing vanished along with it..."
Their voice trailed off, and for a moment, their gaze returned to the Zanerth Universe.
The rings of their spiral eye lit up with cosmic energy, glowing brighter as they momentarily considered taking direct action to eliminate their greatest obstacles then and there. But...
"No," they murmured. "Even if I acted now, I couldn’t kill them.
Besides, the Zanerth Universe has millions of Supremes spread along the outer edges of its multi-universal empire. Any interference on my part would draw them back. And who knows how many of them have reached my level during their absence..."
Choosing not to act, they withdrew their cosmic energy. The glow faded from their spiral eye as they turned away from the Zanerth Universe and raised a hand, folding space itself.
In the blink of an eye, they traversed an enormous distance, arriving in front of another universe. There, they held up the tesseract and spoke in their True Voice.
|Activate.|
At that command, cosmic energy surged into the tesseract, and the hypercube began to emit a low hum. A moment later, energy burst forth, spilling out as a dark grey fog that distorted space-time.
The fog passed through the universe’s cosmic energy barrier without resistance, sweeping forward like a tidal wave. It engulfed entire galaxies, snuffing out the light of stars, tearing planets asunder, and breaking down the universal laws that made life possible within those galaxies.
The existence hovered in silence, watching as the galaxies were consumed and transformed, turned into something eerily reminiscent of a certain place within the Zanerth Universe.
The Dead Zone.
"These are good test results."
Good test results, they said. After wiping out all life in an entire galaxy cluster, their words revealed it had all been nothing more than a mere ’test’.
"Now then, Xelvan Tesseract...cleanse this universe for me.|
And just like that, the existence born from the Vestige of their creator and the remnant fragments of that creator’s greatest tool of mass genocide, one who had inherited the role of The Janitor and title of Destruction Supreme, casually gave the command that marked the beginning of the end for an innocent universe.
And this was only one of many to come, many unfortunate universes doomed to be turned into Dead Zones.
