Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 325: Galactic Chaos
In the midst of the terrifying tremors shaking the entire Pinecone Galaxy, an emergency alarm rang out across all cities and towns on Anadus Prime.
Jamie, standing amid the rubble left behind by his battle with Lapis, could only look on in dismay along with David and Wanete as Lapis in Davina’s body coughed up black blood.
A deep, ominous glow spread from the curse mark on Davina’s body, bright enough that they could see its outline through her clothes.
The fabric of space trembled as the glow intensified, and before anyone could react, Lapis suddenly doubled over, a scream of pain escaping her lips. Her hands clutched at her side as a violent wave of agony tore through her, her body convulsing with the force of it.
David, Wanete, and Jamie were frozen for a moment, their minds struggling to comprehend what they were seeing.
"What the hell?!"
The curse mark wasn’t just glowing—it was activating.
But why?
Lapis had just explained that it took time before it fully activated, and it had only ever tried to kill her after it had adapted to her new body.
She had just switched bodies less than an hour ago. The curse shouldn’t have adapted to her new body yet, much less accumulated the power to kill her.
So why was it activating now?
The answer to that question came from above. Far beyond the world they stood on.
High above, deep in the cold, endless vacuum of space, something stirred.
Something so impossibly large that it could be seen from light-years away. So massive that entire star systems were bound in its gravitational pull, locked in orbit around its lifeless form.
A pulse of immense magic power erupted from the titanic corpse, radiating across the galaxy faster than light itself.
Jamie’s head snapped upwards, and there he saw it, the giant corpse of the Amorphous Space Beast that had been motionless for over 400 million years.
Its hollow eyes lit up with the light of undeath.
The moment those eyes lit up, its head moved. The sudden movement unleashed violent gravitational waves that tore through the fabric of space-time, throwing nearby stars off course and disrupting the planetary orbits tethered to them.
Then it raised its head fully.
Jamie cursed under his breath, unhesitatingly thrusting out his hand and channelling cosmic energy through his sword, using it as an amplifier.
His lips parted and his True Voice echoed across the entire planet.
|Azure Void Authority!|
A tidal wave of cosmic energy erupted from his body, weaving into a massive, luminous barrier that instantly spanned across Anadus Prime and every planet behind its position in the galaxy.
Barely a second before the undead ASB let out a devastating roar that felt like the end of days.
The roar tore through the fabric of space-time, its frequency fracturing dimensional walls and igniting the stars that orbited too close to its corpse.
One by one, they detonated in catastrophic supernovae, and the entire planetary systems around them were vaporized in an instant, reduced to cosmic dust swept away by the force of that sound.
The shockwave didn’t stop there. It radiated outward, rippling across the entire Pinecone Galaxy and its satellite galaxies, shaking millions of planets and stars.
And in the deafening silence that followed, the ASB’s corpse achieved full resurrection.
Its massive body began to shrink rapidly—no longer able to sustain its original size due to the fact that Lapis had extracted several of its energy cores over time.
Naturally, it was still large enough to dwarf entire star systems, but it was undeniably smaller than before, compacting to a size that the remaining energy in its corpse could maintain without strain.
Lines of glowing purple light surged through the deep cracks in its body as its inferno sights narrowed into slits.
◇ ◇ ◇
"A dragon of death was trying to control my corpse."
Jamie remembered those words, one of the last things Amara had told him before her soul was claimed by death.
That was why he was still in Pinecone, killing time in the Knesix Dimension. That was why he had called Rowena and told her to search for signs of space beast activity.
He had been expecting something to happen.
But not now.
The timing was absolutely horrible.
His body was pushed backwards and he dropped to one knee after barely managing to block the devastating roar of the ASB.
Looking up at the burning inferno sights in its eyes, Jamie could tell right away—it was mindless.
Whoever had brought it back—whoever this so-called Dragon of Death was, the one who’d been persistent in their attempts to seize the ASB’s corpse for whatever purpose—had succeeded in resurrecting a mindless monster.
And there was very little doubt that they intended to unleash it in a full-scale rampage.
The ASB had once nearly destroyed the Pinecone Galaxy on its own.
Back then, even one of the strongest Race Emperors of the era had fallen to it, and that was before it absorbed that Emperor’s power.
The only reason it had died was because Jamie—at full power—had interfered to ensure its defeat.
Jamie was not at full power now.
A good chunk of his energy had been spent just blocking that single roar. And now, on top of dealing with the undead ASB, there was another problem.
The billions—no, tens of billions—of space beasts scattered across the Pinecone Galaxy, who had no doubt emerged from their hiding places at the sound of that roar.
And surely, they had taken that sound as a signal, a call to arms from the closest thing the Space Beasts had ever known to a Leader.
That recent increase in Space Beast activity Rowena had discovered? Yeah, that had been the warning shot heralding this moment.
The Amphitheatre of Eternity—where the Eternal Trials were still ongoing—was filled with trillions of guests from outside the Pinecone Galaxy.
There were more powerful existences in the galaxy now than the last time the ASB had attacked, but the real issue wasn’t who was strong enough to fight.
It was who would bother.
After all, this wasn’t their galaxy.
All these thoughts crossed Jamie’s mind in a second, and in the next, the undead ASB moved. Its massive head turned toward his direction for the briefest moment, but almost immediately its eyes flashed and it abruptly turned away.
If Jamie had to guess, it had instinctively turned in the direction of the source of the power that blocked its roar. But that sudden change in direction after the flash in its eyes made Jamie understand that whoever was controlling it had just given it a new command.
And when he followed its gaze—when he saw where it was now looking—Jamie exhaled an exasperated sigh.
"Really? 450 million years, and you still haven’t fucking given up?!"
The undead ASB was looking straight at the Amphitheatre of Eternity.
Jamie had suspicions, but this action had confirmed it.
The one who had resurrected the ASB had been behind its original attack 450 million years ago. At the very least, they were connected, part of the same organization.
And that was a serious problem.
Jamie rose to his feet, inhaling a deep breath and sucking in ambient cosmic energy along with the air.
Fighting the Amorphous Space Beast was one thing, but the real issue was that all eyes would be on him if he did.
Too many powerful beings were present in the Pinecone Galaxy at this moment. If anyone strong enough or perceptive enough was watching, they might notice something—his current power loss.
As far as Jamie was concerned, that was a bigger problem than the threat posed by the undead ASB.
Quickly, he pressed his fingers to his forehead and activated his telepathy, simultaneously connecting to two people.
’Rowena.’
The voice of the Elder Vampire responded almost immediately.
[The Space Beast activity has spiked to a new high—from 13% to nearly 50%.
There are far more of them than ants, and they’re crawling out of their hiding places faster than ants from an anthill. It’s only been a minute, but multiple planets have already been destroyed.
I’m moving to contain the damage now.]
Rowena paused for a moment, before continuing in a lower tone.
[Sir Jamie, I know you’ve already sensed them—the multiple Cosmic Beings who appeared the moment that thing was resurrected. There’s a high chance they’re involved.]
Jamie nodded at her words.
’Ignore them. Prioritize defending the outer reaches. The central regions can hold out long enough for reinforcements, but those outer planets won’t last without immediate support.’
Then, Jamie spoke to the third person in the telepathic link.
’Aikess.’
Before he could even say anything, the phoenix cut him off.
[Do you want me to fight that thing? Hate to break it to you, but this is just a clone body created with summoning law energy. It doesn’t have the power to take on that creature.]
True, Jamie already knew that the Aikess in Pinecone was not in their real body.
[Unless, of course,] Aikess continued, [you were to bring my real body here. It’s about 75 billion light-years east of your current location.]
Jamie’s brows twitched at Aikess’ words. If he could do that, then he’d be too busy one-shotting the undead ASB to have this conversation!
’Why the fuck are you so far away?’
[What?] Aikess said defensively. [I found a really nice star over there, so I was sleeping when you called me.]
Jamie just rolled his eyes at Aikess’ response, before speaking.
’Forget the Amorphous Space Beast. Handle the Deity Realm space beasts that are bound to show up.’
[Alright.]
