Chapter 580: Sky Seed Depravitas’ Runic Sets

Vlad stood before the three Sky Seed Depravitas, his gaze firm as he addressed them.

"Given the nature of our mission," Vlad began, his voice measured and authoritative, "instead of choosing a Runic Set that enhances all aspects of your strength, it’s better to focus on amplifying a single attribute to the highest level possible."

He let his words sink in before continuing, "For example, the Mark of Cain allows my destructive power and battle endurance to reach an incredibly high level. It doesn’t improve my speed or energy control much, but in exchange, it makes me nearly unstoppable in combat."

His tone was solemn, and the three Depravitas nodded in agreement. It was a sound strategy—they would function as a team, covering each other’s weaknesses rather than trying to be well-rounded individuals. Specialization would give them an edge on the battlefield, ensuring maximum efficiency in their roles.

Seeing that everyone was in agreement, Vlad moved on to the specifics.

"Jormungandr, your Runic Set will focus on spell speed," he said, turning to the small yellow cat-like Depravita. "Your goal is to unleash spells so fast that they take enemies by surprise and allow you to counter any unforeseen threats."

Jormungandr nodded without hesitation. His destruction power was already among the highest in the group, and thanks to his Depravita Racial Ability, he could continuously devour energy from the environment. His endurance was also naturally high, so improving his attack speed was a logical choice.

"This will work well for me," Jormungandr said, his tail flicking slightly. "If my spells hit before my enemies can even react, I’ll have the upper hand in almost any confrontation."

Vlad then shifted his gaze to Ouroboros, the towering white werewolf, and after a few moments of contemplation, a decision formed in his mind.

"Ouroboros, your Runic Set will focus on movement speed."

The Depravita of Greed’s ears twitched in interest as he listened.

"As our scout, you’ll take the lead in unknown territory. With extreme speed, you’ll be able to evade danger before it strikes. In a chaotic situation, your speed will be the key to surviving and relaying information." ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Ouroboros nodded in agreement. His heightened senses made him a natural scout, and enhancing his mobility would allow him to navigate hostile environments with ease. It would also increase his attack power—his melee-based combat style thrived on momentum, and the ability to close gaps quickly or dodge attacks at high velocity would make him even deadlier.

Finally, Vlad turned his attention to Fafnir, the flame-ice dragon, whose presence was formidable even in his shrunken state. Before Vlad could even speak, Fafnir expressed the thought already forming in his mind.

"My Runic Set should focus on endurance and resilience—both against physical and magical attacks," Fafnir said firmly. "I should take on the role of the tanker."

Vlad smiled approvingly. The tank role was an incredibly dangerous one, requiring the bearer to absorb damage so their teammates wouldn’t have to. However, Fafnir was the best choice for the role. His vitality was the highest in the group, and his ice abilities naturally gave him overwhelming durability.

"Agreed," Vlad said. "With the right Runic Set, you’ll be able to withstand devastating attacks, even those that would normally break through high-tier defenses. This will allow you to hold the frontlines while the rest of us deal damage."

Fafnir nodded, accepting the responsibility without hesitation.

"In a few hours, I will send you the list of materials needed for the Runic Sets. I’ll need at least two batches of materials to craft your Runic Sets properly," Vlad stated.

As Jormungandr, Ouroboros, and Fafnir heard that, their expressions subtly twitched. The cost of the materials for a Rank 4 Runic Set was immense, even for seasoned warriors like them. However, they knew that they were getting a bargain since they were just paying for the materials. After all, the engraving was much more expensive.

Moreover, Vlad’s skills had drastically improved since engraving the Mark of Cain. What had previously taken five full batches of resources now only required two—a testament to his refined technique.

Jormungandr let out a slow breath. "We’re lucky. If anyone else were doing this, we’d be spending twice as much. And if the engraving failed, we’d be left with nothing."

Ouroboros exhaled sharply. "We’ll get the materials as soon as you send them. No delays."

Fafnir simply nodded, sharing the same thoughts that the other Sky Seed Depravitas.

The small yellow cat flicked his tail before speaking, excitement flashing in his golden eyes. "I also plan to remain inside the fortress, focusing on forging new weapons and armor. With the corpses of the Vorometallicae we’ve gathered, I should be able to craft better gear than what we’ve been given."

His alchemy skill had grown significantly, to the point where his creations could rival top-tier military-grade equipment.

Ouroboros, however, had a different plan. "After delivering the resources, I’ll continue training in the Howling Abyss. The stronger I get before we enter the secret plane, the better."

Unlike Jormungandr or Vlad, Ouroboros wasn’t a professional craftsman. The best way for him to contribute to the team was through personal growth and combat experience.

Fafnir rumbled in agreement. "Same here. I’ll refine my techniques in real battle. The more strength we have, the better prepared we will be for the danger that would come."

Vlad nodded. "As long as you watch each other’s backs, that plan works. Be careful. Unexpected dangers could arise at any time."

With everything decided, Vlad crossed his arms. "Then we all have our objectives for the next month and a half. Once I’m ready to engrave your Runic Sets, I’ll summon you back here."

The three Sky Seed Depravitas nodded in acknowledgment before departing the residence.

Once alone, a solemn light crossed Vlad’s eyes. He had already determined the overall types of Runic Sets his team would receive, but now came the real challenge—choosing the best possible inscriptions and formations to fit the unique physical and magical structures of his allies.
