Beyond the Apocalypse-Chapter 1089: Dealing with Dream of Madness’ corpse
Book 12 - The Holy Trinity
---
Vlad’s eyes twitched before finally opening.
A flash of confusion appeared in them as he struggled to remember when he had fallen unconscious. For a brief moment, his mind felt distant and heavy. Then, without warning, a surge of pain tore through his body and soul.
The agony was deep and overwhelming, spreading through every fiber of his existence. That was the price for unleashing such an overwhelming amount of power when his body was on the brink of falling to pieces.
Yet, as uncomfortable as it was, the pain helped him focus.
Memories came rushing back.
During his enlightenment, his body had been moving on instinct alone. The True Depravita of Wrath had deliberately surrendered conscious control, allowing his subconscious and battle instincts to guide him. By abandoning hesitation and thought, he had allowed the enlightenment to flow with far greater intensity.
As he recalled that radiant light—burning like a meteor tearing across the void—Vlad could not help but feel a deep sense of awe.
"Was that truly my power?"
He had used it. He could still feel traces of it within himself.
And yet, he had no clear way to reproduce it.
A slight frown appeared on his face.
But it did not last long.
A small smile soon replaced it.
"I unleashed it once. I remember its nature. That is enough."
If he had reached that state once, he could reach it again.
With that thought, the True Depravita of Wrath began observing his surroundings.
He was lying on a massive platform formed from condensed energy and matter. Nearby rested the White Death and Merlin, both still unconscious. Their auras were weak but stable.
Floating a short distance away were Brightkin, Orkin, and Ankil. The three Sovereigns sat in deep meditation, their energies circulating steadily as they focused entirely on recovery.
And dominating the entire dimension—
—was the colossal corpse of Dream of Madness.
Even with its soul completely destroyed, Vlad could still feel the overwhelming vitality flowing through the Empyrean’s remains. The sheer amount of residual power within the body was staggering, a testament to just how immense the creature’s strength had once been.
As Vlad began to rise, the three Sovereigns emerged from their meditation.
The moment they sensed his stable aura, wide smiles appeared on their faces.
"Hahaha! The immortality of the True Depravitas is truly amazing," the Amazon Queen laughed.
The other two immediately nodded in agreement.
"Now that you’re awake," the Dvergar King added quickly, "it would be very useful if you could open a portal out of this damned place."
The less time he spent inside this broken dimension, the better.
Vlad had been the one to guide them here. However, he had intentionally avoided leaving an exit behind. None of them had wanted to risk creating a path that Dream of Madness might use to escape.
Vlad smiled and nodded.
Opening a portal would not be difficult.
But just as he began gathering his power, his gaze returned to the massive corpse.
"Before anything else," he said calmly, "we need to deal with that."
Annoyed expressions appeared on the three Sovereigns’ faces.
They had already tried.
The problem was far more complicated than it seemed.
They could not simply leave the corpse behind. There was no telling what the Alien Powers might be able to do with the remains of an Empyrean.
Destroying it, however, would be an enormous waste. The body of such a being was a treasure beyond measure—filled with materials, energy, and potential resources that could alter the balance of power.
Taking it with them was even more difficult.
No spatial artifact or dimensional storage they possessed could safely contain something of that magnitude and power. Attempting to drag the corpse through normal space would create massive disturbances and attract unwanted attention.
And wealth of that level inevitably brought envy.
The last thing they needed now was to invite new enemies.
Vlad remained silent for a moment, carefully analyzing the situation.
Then he slowly rose into the air.
Power gathered around his arm as he concentrated.
The Eye of Gluttony opened.
A massive phantom hydra with four heads manifested above him, its translucent form radiating ancient hunger.
Three of the heads opened their jaws and began devouring everything scattered throughout the dimension—the severed fragments of Dream of Madness, the piece of its head Vlad had cut off earlier, and the vast quantities of blood that had spilled during the battle.
A faint frown appeared on Vlad’s face.
The chaotic and maddening energy contained within those remains was incredibly pure. For anyone else, even a Sovereign, absorbing such power would have been extremely dangerous.
But as a True Depravita, Vlad was virtually immune to corruption.
As three heads devoured, the fourth began to act differently.
From its mouth, waves of vibrant green energy began to spread outward, flooding the entire dimension.
The moment that energy touched the Sovereigns, their eyes widened.
Vitality surged through their bodies like a roaring river. Wounds began closing. Exhausted energy reserves were restored. Even damage to their souls began to mend.
And they were not the only ones affected.
The green energy reached Merlin and the White Death as well.
Comfortable expressions appeared on their unconscious faces as the healing force continued to nourish them.
The process took hours. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Vlad patiently consumed every fragment of the Empyrean’s scattered remains, then continued refining that energy into pure life force. The healing waves persisted, restoring both him and the other Sovereigns to a far stronger condition than before.
By the time the process ended, the White Death slowly opened his eyes.
Merlin remained unconscious, but his life force now burned far brighter than before. His soul was stable and strong.
At this point, his awakening was only a matter of time.
With the scattered remnants fully absorbed, Vlad finally turned his attention to the main body.
The enormous corpse floated silently before him.
The Quantum Eye opened.
Space distorted.
And in the next moment, the massive body of Dream of Madness disappeared—sealed safely within his personal dimensional domain.
