Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 193: Your Promise!
Chapter 193: Your Promise!
After Abigail saw Sawyer enter the bathroom, she slipped under the blanket and typed her reply:
"Aunty Hannah, I’m sorry. I just saw your text. Yes, you can call me anytime."
Abigail didn’t send the text immediately; she read the message a few times before pressing send.
Later, she tried to sleep for a moment. Still, her mind wouldn’t rest as she began to guess which family members and friends Sawyer had invited to attend their wedding tomorrow. Earlier, when she had asked, he just smiled and said, "You’ll see."
’Did he tell his parents? What about his friends? Aaron? Andy Bennet...?’
The thought of Andy Bennet attending their small wedding reception stirred her stomach. Deep down, she still felt terrible for him, so she set aside all the questions that filled her mind.
Abigail rested her eyes, ready to sleep. She needed to sleep now; otherwise, she would have panda eyes tomorrow. She didn’t want to look unpretty on her wedding day.

When Sawyer finished his shower, the room was already dim.
Worried about waking Abigail, he quietly moved around before joining her on the bed. Not long after he lay down, Sawyer began to feel drowsy.
However, Abigail’s soft, hoarse voice stirred him awake.
"Sawyer, did you tell your parents about our wedding tomorrow?"
Sawyer turned to face Abigail. Even with only the yellow lamp in the corner lighting the room, he could clearly see her beautiful eyes blinking and gazing back at him. He smiled and gently pulled her closer to rest on his arm.
"I thought you were sleeping," he said as he leaned in to kiss her forehead.
Abigail sighed softly, realizing that Sawyer was avoiding her question. She pressed him with another question, this time raising her voice slightly. "Did you invite them or not?"
"No—"
Abigail was left speechless.
"Why didn’t you invite them?" Abigail asked patiently. She needed to hear his answer before expressing her concern.
Sawyer looked up at the ceiling before responding, "It’s too late to tell them, and besides, they might bring other family members if they know we’re getting married here tomorrow."
"Please, I need your honest answer, Sawyer—"
Abigail could tell that Sawyer was only making excuses.
She knew how much Hannah had been looking forward to this moment—to witness her son get married. Even if he told his mother just an hour before their wedding, Hannah would undoubtedly rush to the venue.
A soft laugh escaped Sawyer’s lips when he noticed that Abigail didn’t believe him. Turning his gaze toward her, he was surprised to see the sharpness in her eyes, clearly showing that she was not in the mood for jokes.
"Abby, I just didn’t want my father to be there—"
Sawyer’s heavy sigh made Abigail both concerned and confused about handling his dislike for his father. Although ignoring the topic would be more convenient, she refused to stay silent when Sawyer’s relationship with his father worsened.
Deep down, Abigail understood that he must have been deeply hurt. She could relate to his feelings because she had been in a similar position.
Lost in her thoughts, Abigail tried to find the right words to lighten his mood.
However, not long after, Sawyer’s voice reached her ear. "I’m sorry to make you worry, Abby."
She opened her eyes to look at him, noticing how gloomy he had become, which hurt her heart. "I’m not worried. But somehow, I feel connected to you..."
"Thank you."
"Sawyer, can you give him a chance? Just for tomorrow?" Abigail suggested carefully, anxious that he would reject her idea immediately.
When she saw him frown slightly, she quickly added, "I know you hate your father, but I don’t want either your father or mother to dislike me or have negative memories about me because you didn’t invite them to our wedding."
"Why do you think that? They wouldn’t dare to hate you. Don’t worry about them, Abby. We only need my grandparents’ and your grandparents’ blessing."
The firmness in Sawyer’s voice prompted Abigail to think of another way to change his mind.
Sawyer pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her so she could sleep comfortably in his embrace. He didn’t want to discuss his parents, especially his father, before their big day tomorrow.
"Okay, let’s sleep. It’s almost midnight," Sawyer’s voice came from above her.
She didn’t respond, her mind still preoccupied with getting his parents or Hannah to present at their wedding. Suddenly, an idea struck her, and her eyes widened.
’Geez! How could I forget about that?’ A thin smile appeared at the corners of her lips. She looked up to meet his gaze. "Sawyer..."
"What else is wrong, dear? Why aren’t you asleep yet?"
"I’m not asleep yet. I still have some worries on my mind."
"What is it? Please share it with me. I’ll see what I can do to help you..."
"I’m worried that if Grandma Sophie finds out your parents didn’t attend our wedding, she’ll think they don’t accept me as their daughter-in-law," Abigail said slowly with a tone of despair. She deliberately said it that way to sound sad and concerned.
Seeing Sawyer’s slight reaction, Abigail was happy to know her idea was working. She continued, "Sawyer, remember when you first met my grandmother? Right!?"
"Hmm, of course, I remember," he replied.
"Well, Grandma Sophie instantly rejected you when she heard your last name, Jones. I also remember that day you tried hard to convince my grandma that your parents would like me."
Sawyer’s expression suddenly stiffened as he grasped what Abigail was implying. What she said was true: Grandma Sophie was concerned that his parents would not accept Abigail into their family, and she clearly mentioned she didn’t want her granddaughter to suffer.
Back then, he had even promised Grandma Sophie that his parents would definitely like Abigail, even though they had not yet met.
’Damn! How could I forget that?’ Sawyer scolded himself inwardly for forgetting about it.
It seemed he had no choice but to let his father attend their wedding. Otherwise, Abigail’s fears might become a reality, and he did not want her to worry or feel sad about it.
