Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 188: DNA Test
Chapter 188: DNA Test
There was only one person Abigail resembled, and that was her grandmother. Even her mother didn’t share the exact resemblance; they only had the same eye color. Surprisingly, this older man also had the same eye color as her.
James clenched his hands tightly, impatient to understand why Sophie had left him. This mystery loomed as the biggest question in his life and continued to confuse him. He felt he could never find peace without hearing Sophie’s reasons for her departure.
Knowing Sophie talk about the past to Abigail awakened his curiosity.
"Abigail, can you tell me why your grandma suddenly vanished from my life?" James asked. The tension in his heart became more apparent as his breath grew short, waiting for her response.
Sawyer, who sat beside Abigail, was also curious. He knew a little about Sophie; she hated the wealthy families in the capital. At that moment, he was unsure of Sophie’s exact reasons. However, after learning that Sophie was James Philips’ long-lost fiancée, he began to understand her feelings: she despised the Philips family.
"I’m sorry, Grandpa Philips, but I can’t say anything. You’ll need to ask my grandma about it," Abigail replied, refusing to discuss it further.
She didn’t want to talk about it, not out of hatred for this man, but because she was in the dark about what had happened in the past and who was telling the truth. Her grandma had only told her that her grandpa had left her for another woman. In contrast, Grandpa Philips claimed that his fiancée had departed without saying a word. He still tried to look after her grandma despite the circumstances.
Seeing James’ disappointment, Abigail felt guilty but didn’t know how to respond. She turned to Sawyer, silently asking for his help.
When Sawyer saw Abigail’s awkwardness, he smiled at her before looking at James. His expression grew serious as he said, "Grandpa Philips, please stop pressuring Abby. I agree with her; you should ask Grandma Sophie, not her."
James Philips nodded in agreement with Sawyer. He realized he shouldn’t have forced Abigail and should instead be thanking her for coming to the dinner.
Abigail smiled at Sawyer, appreciating how he seemed to be scolding James, but found it amusing.
’Gosh! Sawyer Jones, you’ll be in trouble in the future if this man is indeed my grandpa...’ she thought with a laugh.

After several servers came in to serve dinner, James asked everyone to start eating.
As they enjoyed their meal, James noticed that Abigail seemed less tense and awkward when talking to him, which made him happy.
"Abigail, can you take me to meet your grandma? I know it might be a stretch, but maybe talking to her will help me understand what happened back then. Moreover, if anything has made her angry with me, I want to apologize before it’s too late."
Abigail wasn’t surprised by James’ request; she had already imagined what it would be like if Grandpa Philips met her grandma.
She placed her cutlery on her plate and stared silently at James. She wanted to agree and take him to Orange Town immediately to meet her grandma, but she felt the need to talk to Grandma first.
"Of course you can. But I need to ask my grandma first. The decision to meet you is ultimately hers."
James nodded, amused by Abigail’s response, as it was the same answer he had received from Sawyer. "Yes, please ask her. And let your grandma know that I have never stopped looking for her since she left me."
Hearing his words, a frown appeared on Abigail’s forehead, and she seemed to be thinking about something deeply for a while.
"Grandpa Philips, but there is one thing you must do before I talk to my Grandma."
"What is it, dear!?" James asked, worry flashing through his eyes.
"We need to do a DNA test. I need that proof before talking to Grandma. Because my grandma has never talked about you at all, she always refuses to tell me about your identity. And if there is DNA evidence that we are related, I’m sure Grandma won’t be able to deny it any longer..."
James took a deep breath. He had already heard this from Sawyer, which made him sad and confused as to why Sophie did that.
James often wondered if Sophie’s child wasn’t his, so she never told Abigail or her mother about him. However, deep down, he refuses to believe that; he considers Abigail to be his granddaughter. And now he even wishes she was.
"Abigail, that’s on my mind too. Let’s do that tomorrow," James replied excitedly. The DNA test would confirm their relationship.
James’ excitement sharply contrasted with Sawyer’s panic upon hearing his words. "Tomorrow? No. Tomorrow is not possible, Grandpa Philips..."
"Why not? Young man, this is important for both me and Abigail. We must move quickly to get the DNA test and ensure we choose the quickest one so I can meet Sophie soon." James frowned at Sawyer, clearly annoyed.
Sawyer took a deep breath, worried that their plan to register their marriage and fly to their honeymoon destination might be canceled if this older man insisted on the DNA test tomorrow.
"Grandpa Philips... Abigail and I plan to register our marriage tomorrow and fly to the island for our honeymoon. You can do the DNA test when we return," Sawyer explained, clearly not wanting to delay his plans to marry Abigail.
James was shocked to hear that Abigail and Sawyer were moving forward with their marriage so quickly.
"Aren’t you two planning to have a wedding party? Why the rush?" he asked. He never hears anything about it from Nathaniel. He looked at Abigail, hoping she would respond.
However, Abigail didn’t respond; she turned to Sawyer and let him answer.
"We’re not rushing, Grandpa Philips. Not at all. In fact, we’ve talked about it a lot, and we’ve explained it to Grandma Sophie and already received her blessing," Sawyer announced proudly. "So, tomorrow is the day we register our marriage. As planned."
