Chapter 52: Chapter 52 - Final Fight

Theo locked eyes with the growling Blue Mane Wolf, watching its wind element go into a state of berserk.

’Its berserking state is not as strong as Owen’s,’ he thought, narrowing his eyes. ’And its body is clearly nearing its limits.’

It wasn’t an understatement to say that it was a miracle for the wolf to even be alive at this point.

Even so, Theo knew it wouldn’t be an easy fight.

’One of my arms is useless and I’m bleeding slightly on my side,’ he thought. ’The amount of mana I can use is also nearing its limit.’

This didn’t leave him with a whole lot of options.

But... that didn’t mean it was impossible anymore.

’Either I outlast it or I need to find a good moment to finish it off.’

He exhaled slowly, lowering his stance slightly.

The wind around the Blue Mane Wolf had stopped increasing, instead slicing around it uncontrollably.

Without warning, it lunged towards him.

Theo raised his hand immediately, forming a water shield in front of him.

The wolf raised its claw mid-air, wind gathering around it.

In an instant, the claw collided with the water shield, slowly sinking deeper into it.

The pressure inside slowed it down the further it got, preventing it from slicing all the way through.

’Good,’ Theo thought, clenching his jaw.

But the wolf wasn’t done yet.

It let out a loud howl, waves of raw wind blasting forward without any sort of control or form.

The waves flowed around his shield, slamming into his body with immense force.

’’Kgh,’’ he let out as his body was blasted backwards.

Landing several yards back, Theo slid to a halt.

’’It’s not in control at all,’’ he muttered, breathing heavily. ’’I can do this.’’

Before he could fully recover, the wolf was already on the move again.

A burst of wind pushed it forward, closing the distance in nearly an instant.

Theo’s eyes widened.

He twisted his body with all his might.

The claw tore past him, wind slicing through the air and carving shallow lines across his arm.

’Too fast!’

The wolf immediately spun back around, a green wind surrounding its claw as it went straight towards Theo.

His eyes widened as he quickly formed another water shield in front of him.

This time, however, the wolf’s claws pierced straight into it, its claws just barely coming out on the other side.

’Shit!’

Theo’s expression darkened.

Immense amounts of wind element gathered around the claw as it tore the shield in half.

As Theo tried to jump away, a strong wind came from behind, slowly pushing him closer to the wolf.

’’Fuck!!!’’

The beast’s jaws opened in front of him, its head twisting sideways in order to eat him in one bite.

The only thing preventing it from moving closer were the two halves of the water shield pressing against its body.

Theo’s mind raced, searching for possible ways out.

Yet—

The wind pressing against his back kept pushing him closer and closer.

’I need to do something!’ he thought, heart pounding.

There was only one thing he could think of.

’One concentrated lightning strike.’

He immediately started gathering lightning mana in his hand.

The raw lightning mana crackled wildly without a spell to give form to it.

When suddenly, a translucent screen flashed in front of his eyes.

[Would you rather—]

Option 1: Gain a diamond core-grade umbrella forged from Kraken tendons and Deepsea serpent claws.

Option 2: Gain a diamond core-grade illusion mirror formed from the Nine-tailed Foxfire Crystal.

Theo’s eyes widened.

’Are you serious right now—?!’

The screen didn’t move, blocking his vision partially despite his curses.

Wind kept blowing him forward, his feet dragging over the ground while the wolf clawed the water shield into more pieces.

Its breath hit his face, being merely a few feet away from its mouth now.

’Move!’ Theo snapped, trying to swipe the screen away.

But nothing happened.

The lightning mana he’d been gathering grew unstable, flowing back inside his body instead.

’No, no, no,’ he let out, the teeth now inches away from his face.

Seeing the screen still in front of him, Theo gritted his teeth.

"Option one!" he shouted. "Just give me option one!"

[Choice made.]

[Granting reward in 3...2...—]

Theo’s eyes locked onto the wolf’s jaws as they opened wide in front of him.

The wind behind him surged again, forcing his body forward.

He couldn’t stop... and with no lightning mana gathered anymore—

There was nothing he could do but wait.

Everything seemed to slow down as the beast’s eyes widened and its jaw started to close in around him.

[...1]

The beast’s mouth snapped shut... but not all the way.

A deep-blue umbrella stuck between its teeth, already flapped open.

Theo looked around in a daze, his body barely saved because of the umbrella.

’’I’m alive,’’ he muttered, snapping out of it.

The beast’s muscles bulged, veins standing out along its neck as it tried to force its jaws shut.

Yet... the umbrella remained perfectly intact.

A distorted growl left the wolf’s mouth, confusion flickering past its eyes.

Theo no longer hesitated.

He grabbed the handle of the umbrella tightly, gathering water mana to his hand.

At the same time, the beast raised its head, lifting him off the ground.

He refused to let go as a blue light shining from his hand.

The blue light coursed through the umbrella, releasing mist all around it.

Even though he felt an ache from his core, Theo never stopped.

’Now,’ he thought, letting go of the umbrella.

As the mist swallowed the wolf’s head, Theo rolled on the ground.

He jumped up with no time to waste, immediately forming two lightning bolts above him.

’With everything I have,’ he thought, staring at the sky.

The lightning bolts soared into the sky.

First sixty meters high, then eighty, and finally... a hundred.

There, the bolts swirled around each other, their lightning sparking against each other.

The beast was still shaking its head in the mist, unable to see that Theo had long disappeared from the umbrella.

’Almost there!’ Theo thought, his core feeling as if it had been set on fire.

Grey clouds slowly began gathering in the air, swirling as lightning flashed inside.

He glanced down for a short moment and just stared at the struggling wolf.

All the lightning in the cloud gathered together, forming one bright ball of light.

Then—

Theo brought his hand down.

CRACK!

In an instant, a thick lightning bolt tore out of the cloud, heading straight for the wolf.

As it vaporized the mist cloud, the wolf looked up one final time, finally noticing the danger. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

But... it was already too late.

The beam collided with the wolf for a fraction of a second.

Then, a blinding flash swallowed everything in sight.

BOOM!
