Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Gift From Cliff

Of course, those words were a dig at Edith, as she had to ensure the engagement party would be a success, in keeping with her desire for revenge. Finally, the long-awaited engagement party arrived. Today, she had to put on a show all day long to carry out her revenge mission.

Before attending the engagement party, Edith prepared in her apartment. As usual, Eliana and Erdin couldn’t attend the party because it was for adults only. Furthermore, they weren’t allowed to witness this act of revenge firsthand. Therefore, it was Renata’s duty to look after the twins. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Edith desperately hoped it would be Callum who picked her up, but Cliff appeared first, forcing a smile. Her appearance, already wearing the dress she had chosen earlier, made Cliff’s eyes sparkle.

"I’m so sorry for making fun of you earlier," Cliff said, looking away.

"I won’t scold you. It’s natural that you teased me before, for my own good. I still remember your joke back then."

"It turns out that if you wear this dress to our engagement party, you look perfect." His lips landed on her supple hand, making Edith feel very disgusted and want to clean her hands quickly.

"Hearing your compliment just now made my heart race. I’ve already forgotten everything. So you don’t have to feel guilty anymore."

Cliff took a moment to pull out a small box from his suit pocket. He opened it slowly, revealing a shining necklace inside.

"This necklace is for you, Edith."

For the first time, Edith didn’t show an exaggerated facial expression when receiving the jewelry from Cliff. "It’s rare for you to give me a necklace."

"Because I want you to shine even more today." His eyes fell on the diamond necklace studded with rubies around his fiancée’s neck. "Actually, I’m still curious about you. Why do you wear that necklace every day?"

Edith immediately felt the necklace Callum had given her with a nervous smile. She actually had a bad feeling about this. She was afraid Cliff would force her to take off this special necklace.

"This necklace is the only one of its kind in the world. It was hard for me to get it. That’s why I wear it all the time so I don’t lose it."

"So if I gave you this necklace, wouldn’t you wear it?"

Hearing Cliff’s tone grow harsher made her legs begin to tremble. "I don’t wear it because I don’t like it. But I’ve gotten used to wearing this necklace every day, which makes me feel more confident."

Cliff actually wanted to debate the necklace issue a little longer. However, if this debate continued, he worried that his relationship with his fiancée would become even more strained. So, he put aside his selfishness.

"Okay, if you want to wear your necklace to our engagement party, I won’t stop you. I don’t want to make you cry and embarrass everyone."

"Sorry, it’s not like I’m refusing your gift." Edith quickly snatched the necklace from Cliff. "I’ll still wear it someday."

"Thank goodness, I thought you didn’t like my necklace."

"Of course I like it. Because it was a gift from you." Edith hugged her lover tightly. "If you really object to me wearing my necklace, you can tell me."

"No way. You already look beautiful in that necklace. If you wear mine, you definitely won’t be smiling at the party." Cliff actually sensed something was amiss. He glanced around the living room with narrowed eyes. "Speaking of which, where is Eliana?"

"Since she couldn’t attend our engagement party, I left her at Renata’s house. It’s safer there, and Renata has already bought lots of toys so she can play with Eliana to her heart’s content."

A heavy sigh escaped his lips. "I wanted to say hello to her before we left."

"Do I need to call Renata to bring Eliana here?"

"There’s no need to bother calling her. I just want at least an adult to look after Eliana."

"Then how about we go now?"

Cliff laughed awkwardly, gently stroking his fiancée’s head. "It seems you can’t wait to attend our engagement party."

"Of course. Haven’t I been eagerly anticipating this moment since yesterday? I want to show off our relationship to everyone."

Edith was more than a little impatient to meet her beloved fiancé at the engagement party. Throughout the journey to the venue, Edith was a little nervous sitting next to Cliff. She was a little disappointed that Cliff wasn’t driving the black sedan. She had hoped he would drive so she wouldn’t have to talk to him. However, Cliff began to touch her hand discreetly, causing goosebumps to rise up her spine.

"You don’t need to be nervous about attending this party. All the guests are nice people. I’m sure you’ll get along with them."

Edith smiled faintly and patted her lover’s hand. "I won’t be nervous. Why would I be when today is the most beautiful day of our lives?"

"Because you haven’t had any friends all this time."

"Not having friends doesn’t mean I’m not good at socializing."

Upon arriving at the outdoor venue, Edith walked along the white carpet, holding Cliff’s hand, greeting each guest one by one. Edith forced herself to be friendly, but in reality, she was searching for her lover. Due to their lack of communication lately, she couldn’t contain her longing. All they could do was communicate via video calls or chat.

Even as Cliff was busy introducing his friends one by one, Edith wasn’t paying attention. Her eyes were still focused on the crowd of invited guests who had come solely to find Callum. She couldn’t stand this act anymore.

"Edith, do you like all the guests who are here today?"

Edith nodded nervously. "Of course. Although I haven’t spoken to them in person, they seem very friendly."

"I told you before, I wouldn’t invite anyone who wasn’t friendly. I want you to feel comfortable throughout this party."

Their footsteps suddenly stopped for a moment when they passed Callum who was holding Arabella’s hand tightly.
