Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Fight Between The Brothers

Ignoring the CCTV cameras in the room, Callum walked over to his stepbrother and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. His right hand was clenched into a fist, ready to punch the bastard in the face. However, staring at that psychopathic smile only further provoked him. His previous suspicions were correct: Cliff had manipulated the results of the stupid DNA test because of his extensive connections.

Cliff laughed sarcastically, pulling his stepbrother’s clenched right hand. "Why? Don’t you dare hit me?"

"Of course I want to kill you because you are a psychopath! How dare you steal my lover?!"

"Who’s your lover?" Cliff snapped his fingers. "Oh, my ex-fiancée! Aren’t you two no longer in touch? Haven’t you been refusing to love her?"

"You bastard! You don’t deserve to be Edith’s husband! You can’t protect her properly. I know you’ve been playing around with lots of women all this time!"

"Callum, I just want to warn you. Edith won’t love you if you keep torturing her. In fact, Edith has already confessed to me that she only loves me."

Callum immediately punched his stepbrother in the face, leaving her cheeks red. He didn’t care that his brutal actions were caught on CCTV. This time, he couldn’t hold back his patience any longer.

"Watch your words! There’s no way Edith would like a jerk like you!"

Cliff also didn’t hesitate to punch his stepbrother in the face until she collapsed to the floor. "Even if you don’t want to give Edith to me, I’ll still marry her."

"Edith ran a genetic DNA test on my twins and me. The results showed that we were incompatible. Was it really your fault?!"

"Now I want to ask. Do you have any proof?"

That’s true. Callum has no solid proof that Cliff manipulated the DNA test results. If he were to investigate this secretly, he would surely lose because Cliff has more connections and power than him. Because he is an illegitimate child, he is not considered special by anyone. The only person who does is Edith. That’s why he wants to marry Edith, who has always loved him sincerely.

"I’ll definitely get stronger evidence that you’re the culprit. It might not be anytime soon, though, as it will take a long time to find it."

"Shouldn’t you know my personality that doesn’t like waiting?"

"I will maintain my relationship with Edith. Even if she hates me, I still love her."

"I’m also going to be the father of your twins. It seems they need a better father."

Callum tried to punch his stepbrother in the face again, but he was too slow. Instead, he was punched again, bruising his cheek. He endured the pain so as not to show weakness in front of his greatest enemy.

"You psychopath! You have no right to be a father!"

"Then I’ll ask your twins directly. Who will they choose? Will they choose you or me?"

Since hearing his half-brother’s threats, Callum has become increasingly uneasy about letting his twins have fun outside the house. When he picks them up, he keeps forgetting the threats rather than worrying them. He admits his twins look a lot like Edith.

Callum didn’t want to talk to his twins for long because his cheek was still bruised from Cliff’s punch. He didn’t want to show them the injury. Right now, he wanted to focus on his girlfriend, who was starting to waver because of the DNA test results. As time went on, he grew increasingly worried that she would turn to evil.

Even though his cheek still hurt, he managed to endure the pain as he made dinner. As he entered his room, he saw his lover’s gloomy face. He could sense his anxiety over the DNA test results not meeting his expectations. What was more important to him now was finding evidence that Cliff was the one who manipulated the DNA test results.

Edith glared at her lover’s bruised cheek. She pulled him to sit next to her so she could touch his soft cheek. Her heart ached as she looked at him in pain.

"What’s wrong with your cheek? Did you have a fight with someone?" Edith asked in a panic.

Callum smiled casually, slowly stroking his lover’s head. "Are you worried about me?"

"Of course! If your cheek suddenly bruises, I won’t be able to breathe." She crossed her arms. "Maybe you haven’t applied ice to your cheek yet!"

"I like you more and more because you seem to care about me so much."

Her cheeks flushed red as she stared at her lover’s sweet smile, making her heart melt even more. "Of course I care about you, because you’ve been taking care of Erdin for the past five years."

"I think you just said that just now so you can care about me without feeling ashamed."

"Anyway, you should apply an ice pack to your cheek first! I’ll get some for you if you need it."

Callum’s gaze fell on his girlfriend’s left hand, which was no longer connected to the IV drip. "By the way, are you feeling better?"

"Of course. It’s all thanks to you for saving me earlier." Edith tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "By the way, if you’re still stubborn, I’ll get you some ice cubes from the fridge."

Callum smiled brightly as he took the ice cubes that had been placed on the tray. "I brought them. Don’t worry, I can take care of myself just fine."

Edith took a handful of ice cubes and gently pressed them against her lover’s slightly swollen cheek. She wanted to lecture him at length for not taking proper care of himself.

"Even though you are a father, you can’t take care of yourself properly!"

Callum smiled mischievously, kissing her red lips aggressively, causing his girlfriend’s gaze to widen. Although it was sudden, he could feel the slow movement of her lips, as if she were truly enjoying the kiss. If Edith didn’t love him, why would she kiss him?
