Becoming A Tech Tycoon Begins With Regression-Chapter 162: Lights, Cameras and Explosions.
"This should be fun," Silk muttered with a grin as she moved a bit towards the mansion, a small cylinderical object in her hand.
This was another one of the gadgets Ethan had prepared just for this.
What did it do?
"Let’s find out what this thing does," She said, her grin getting wider by the second.
Following the instructions give to her, she pressed the sylinder, causing it to let out a subtle sound and produce a blue glow.
The sound got closer and closer to a whistle before Silk tossed it towards the estate.
The device landed in a grass patch, the small sound continuing for a while, until:
Fwoom!
A shockwave bubble of pure blue light spread outward from the device’s impact point. It travelled in a wide radius, hitting even the Mansion.
Inside, the effect was instantaneous.
The lights flickered before they turned off, this was then followed by the cameras, the AC unit and every single tech in the house.
Crkkzzzt!
Next to be hit was the communications, every earpiece, walkie-talkie, and comm line inside the building produced some white noise before going dead.
This caught all the guards in the Mansion, off guard, as they never expected an EMP blast to hit them.
"Yabai, sugoi!" Silk said as she saw the effects of the cylinder1.
Even the team was affected by the EMP, as Nico and Juno’s disguises glitched for a bit, before stabilizing again, luckily, no one was around to notice.
"Silk," Tag’s voice came through a bit distorted, but still functional through the secured channel Athena had prepared to withstand the pulse. "Confirm status."
"The house is dark and their comms are dead," she answered." the guards are running around like footless chickens."
"Good," Tag replied. "Nico, what are the guards doing?"
Inside, Nico — still disguised as one of the mansion’s maids — took the cue. Her steps were steady, professional, the silver tray in her hands helping her blend perfectly as she walked past two panicked guards shouting at each other in Mandarin.
"They think it’s a power surge," she whispered softly into the comms. "They’re arguing about whether to call maintenance or security first."
"Good," Tag said. "Juno, you’re up, you have five minutes."
"Got it," Juno’s tired voice came through as he entered the stairwell opened by Nico, with Zero following behind.

"The hell is going on?"
While all the chaos went on, Madam Xu still in the living room with Jian Long, questioned in confusion.
Before Jian could answer, the sound of footsteps and shouting filled the corridor outside — guards yelling in Mandarin, some panicked, some confused. A few bursts of static came from their radios, followed by dead silence.
Madam Xu turned toward the door, her fury boiling over. "Get them under control!" she shouted to Zhao Ming, who stood frozen by the wall. "I want power restored and every inch of this estate searched! Now!"
Zhao flinched at her tone and rushed out the door, barking orders in return.
Jian, meanwhile, had already crossed to the nearby window, peering through the darkness outside.
He could barely make out the estate walls in the distance, the courtyard lamps were all dead, and the security were nowhere to be seen....most of which were scrambling to to come back to the mansion and make sure Madam Xu was safe or to carry out her orders.
’Idiots.’ he thought to himself.
Madam Xu came closer to him, her eyes narrowing. "You think this is him?"
Jian didn’t reply immediately. He exhaled slowly, rubbing his jaw. "...Yes, and if he’s here then that means he’s coming to save her."
Before Xu could retort, a guard burst into the room, breathing hard. "Madam! We’ve lost contact with the basement!"
That confirmed Jian Long’s words.
"What?" Madam Xu asked.
"The cameras are down, and no one’s responding from the lower floors. I sent two men to check—"
She had left a couple of people there earlier, Incase something like this happened, but those people are currently not responding.
BANG!
The sound startled Madam Xu and some of the guards as the turned towards the direction.
It had come from outside and Madam Xu turned back to see a van crashing through their gates.
"What the hell is that?" Madam Xu demanded for the second time today, her eyes wide.
The guards immediately rushed towards the outside and surrounded the van, slowly approaching it.
Jian on the other hand, suspiciously looked at the van before looking to the corridor that led to the basement door which held their hostage.
He started pulling the slide on his pistol as his instincts kicked in. "They’re already inside."
"Impossible!" Xu hissed, though there was a bit of hesitation in her voice. "We would’ve—"
But before she could finish, the lights and the large monitor on the far wall came to life.
The same blue eyed avatar in a suit appeared, there was a small smile on his face as he looked at the two.
"What’s the matter Xu?" He started, "you look panicked."
"Is this your attempt at saving your subordinate?" Madam Xu steadied her voice, subtly signalling to Zhao to move some men towards the basement, "because if so, you just ended up giving us more leverage in the form of your underlings."
"Is that so?" The avatar asked, the smile still on his face, "because I could’ve sworn all your cards are now spent."
As if on cue, the guards outside pulled open the Van’s door, only to find it empty...well, not really, there was a mannequin inside with its arm raised and all other fingers cut off except the middle one.
"Wait—" one of the guards shouted at the other who raised a pistol to shoot the mannequin but it was already too late as the trigger had already been pulled.
A second later, the bullet came into contact with the mannequin and for a few seconds, nothing seemed to be happening, but before they could relax.
BOOM!
