Chapter 65 -65: As Long As You Want, You Can_1
On Monday morning, Angelina arrived in class on time, ready to start teaching.
Just as she stepped in, she was surprised to find Wang Ye sitting there.
For some time now, Wang Ye hadn’t been coming to class, having called her the last time to say he was busy and needed some time off.
Well, this was just a foundation course, attendance was not essential, passing the final examination was all that mattered.
With Wang Ye’s proficiency in Russian, passing the exam was, without doubt, a non-issue.
So, Wang Ye’s lack of attendance was not a problem for Angelina.
“Misha, what brings you to class today?” she asked, smilingly.
Misha was a shortened form of “Mikhail”, the Russian name Wang Ye had recently adopted, after all, he was set to interact a lot with Russians, so having a Russian name was pretty much necessary.
When choosing the name, he specifically called Angelina to consult her opinion. This was the name Angelina recommended.
It was a significant name; Mikhail was one of the seven archangels in Christianity.
In Europe, Mikhail, Michel, and Michael were all synonymous and commonly used.
Actually, Wang Ye’s formal Russian name should be “Mikhail”, but only those close to him would call him “Misha”.
Angelina had had meals and drinks with Wang Ye. They were naturally closer than other students in her class, so she referred to him directly as Misha.
“Well, things at the company have settled down for now, so I’m free for a couple of days. I thought I’d attend class. Oh, and Angelina, let’s have a meal together, at the cafeteria in Building 7. I want to thank you for your help choosing my name. Besides, I have something else to discuss with you.”
Wang Ye spoke in fluent Russian, talking so fast the other students in the class couldn’t understand a word.
Angelina nodded with a smile, not refusing his offer.
As far as she was concerned, Wang Ye was a friend.
……
After school, Wang Ye waited for Angelina to pack up her things, then they headed to the cafeteria in Building 7 together.
Angelina had eaten there before, but not frequently, since her salary didn’t necessarily allow…
The meal was simple, the same old BBQ with mashed potatoes, some fries and pickles, and a large glass of draft beer for each of them.
“Is everything going smoothly with the company? Last time you mentioned setting up a study abroad agency to help Chinese students come here to study?” Angelina inquired curiously.
Wang Ye had mentioned this to her before but didn’t go into detail.
Wang Ye nodded, “Yes, things are going smoothly. I may need to return to China soon to do some student recruitment and promotion.”
Angelina said enviously, “That sounds great. I’ve never been on a plane, believe it or not.”
It was clear that Angelina’s family was likely not very wealthy.
In fact, during those years, many Russian families were struggling!
One might say, aside from a few oligarchs, the whole country was facing difficulties…
“As long as you want, it can happen,” Wang Ye smiled and said.
“What?” Angelina seemed a little confused by his statement.
“Would you like to work at my company? You’ll have numerous opportunities to fly, so much so, you might even get tired of it. Don’t worry about the salary either. You know Alexander, right? The teacher who also teaches foundation courses? The middle-aged man who always carries a large sports bag to work?” Wang Ye revealed the intention behind inviting her for dinner.
He wanted to lure Angelina to his company!
Frankly, it was a shame for such a beautiful girl to be cooped up in school, working as a foundation course teacher.
Wang Ye planned to offer her a broader “stage”.
Of course, he had his own agenda…
…
Angelina was taken aback, blinking her big eyes, trying to figure out how to respond.
Wang Ye wanted her to join his company?
This was something Angelina had not imagined.
She hadn’t considered changing jobs, despite the low pay at school making her struggle to make ends meet.
But a university teacher’s job is respectable after all.
It wouldn’t be bad if it were a large company, but job opportunities in Russia were not too plentiful. Apart from energy, telecom, and banking giants, there weren’t many companies.
As for foreign investments, do large markets count…
She hesitated for a moment and asked, “I’m not very familiar with your company, and what would I do if I went there? And what happened to Alexander? He quit not long ago but I’m not familiar with him. I don’t know what he’s up to. Did he go to your company?”
Angelina didn’t directly refuse, nor did she agree. This indicated that she was still undecided.
Wang Ye smiled and explained:
“Alexander didn’t go to my company, but to my friend’s company. They’re a legitimate sports shoe brand.
My Study Abroad Service Company and that sports shoe company…
Well, let’s call them sibling companies.
This friend is also one of my company’s shareholders, and both companies share an office.
I was the one who recommended Alexander; his monthly salary is now one thousand five hundred US dollars, and he’s the manager of the sales department.
Plus, he gets sales commission, which make his monthly earnings go well over two thousand US dollars!”
Angelina’s eyes widened in disbelief and exclaimed, “Two thousand dollars? That’s a lot!”
This was indeed a high figure, several times more than what foundation course teachers earned!
” Yes, he’s in sales, and he has sales experience, so his salary is quite high. Actually, when he was still a teacher, Alexander used to sell shoes at a stall every day,” Wang Ye laughed. There was no mockery in his laughter.
Everyone’s efforts will pay off. You never know when the experience you’ve accumulated will come in handy!
Alexander was an excellent example. If he hadn’t sold shoes at a stall every day, he wouldn’t have gone to the large market to procure goods, and he wouldn’t have known so many Russian salespeople.
So when Xiao Hu’s company needed to hire a head of business, Wang Ye wouldn’t have recommended him.
Alexander would not have landed such a high-paying job…
That’s cause and effect, every cause has an effect.
Angelina seemed tempted. After all, such a high salary was much more than what she was currently making!

If she could make two thousand dollars a month, she could stay in Moscow, and after working for several years, she could even afford to buy a large house and bring her entire family to live with her.
But…
Was Wang Ye’s company reliable…?
Alexander went to a sports shoe brand company which actually produced goods and was in foreign trade, so they were not weak and their business was pretty stable and ongoing.
But Wang Ye’s company was supposedly a study abroad agency. She had no idea if that business was feasible.
Moreover, what would she do if she went there…
