Became a Demon with Pregnancy System-Chapter 161: Companions for the night
"Shut the hell up."
Nate snapped.
He had just recognized Luke as his father-in-law—
If Sophia called him "Big Bro," then their family hierarchy would be completely ruined.
At that moment—
A spatial tear appeared, and Luke stepped through it effortlessly.
He looked around the hotel lobby.
"Why are you all still here?
Shouldn’t you be in your rooms?"
"Oh, uh... Sophia was treating everyone to a feast.
So we just ran into each other here," Marissa explained.
Luke raised an eyebrow.
"Oh? Where’s this feast, Master Sophia?"
Luke had planned to take a few girls out for supper anyway—
But if Sophia was paying, even better.
From the front, Bella White overheard.
She raised an eyebrow.
"Why are all the boys coughing?
Are they sick?"
Zoe Miller smirked.
"Keep coughing like that, and they’ll all end up infertile."
Morning Session: Exchange Battles Begin
The morning was dedicated to exchange matches between various schools and Imperial Capital Academy.
However, the afternoon was reserved for the main event—the much-anticipated battle between Celestial Academy and Imperial Capital Academy.
For the Imperial Capital, the real competition was in the afternoon, meaning most of their main lineup wasn’t present in the morning session.
Even so, Imperial Capital Academy’s victory was effortless.
Top talent, elite resources—an impossible combination to surpass, no matter how hard other schools tried.
Meanwhile, at Celestial Academy’s Side...
Compared to the high tension at Imperial Capital Academy, the atmosphere at Celestial Academy was much more relaxed.
Well, except for one person—
Sophia Root.
She sat off to the side, massive dark circles under her eyes, her face completely drained of life.
"Luke, you’re too much!"
"How could you leave me behind?!"
Sophia Root grumbled, her voice full of suffering.
Luke glanced at her calmly.
"Sophia, if you were a scout, your entire team would have died because of faulty intelligence."
"This is punishment for being careless."
Luke’s words were merciless.
"How was I supposed to know the police were going to raid the place?!"
Sophia sighed, looking genuinely hurt.
"In the past, nothing like this ever happened!
Why is the security so tight all of a sudden?"
What Happened Last Night...
The five of them had successfully picked their ’companions’ for the night.
Everything was going smoothly—until, suddenly...
Just as they were about to fully enjoy the evening,
A loud knock on the door shattered the moment.
If not for Luke’s Spatial Magic, they would have spent the night in jail with Sophia.
Even so, Luke was not pleased.
This was a fatal mistake, and he refused to let it slide.
"You have no excuses," Luke said, shaking his head.
"Sophia, you’ve completely ruined your image in my eyes."
"Seriously, I expected better from you."
"Sophia, if you were this useless, you should have told us earlier!
I still have connections in the Imperial Capital, you know."
Nate Dawson, Kevin Rodriguez, and Logan Quinn all mocked her mercilessly.
For Kevin and Logan, it had been their first time at such an establishment.
And now, their first experience was tainted with a disaster.
They wouldn’t let Sophia hear the end of it.
"You all shut up!"
Sophia yelled, stomping off to the front of the group, clearly done with the conversation.
Arriving at the Colosseum
A short while later, the group arrived at the Imperial Capital Academy’s Colosseum.
The morning battles had ended with Imperial Capital Academy’s absolute dominance.
Their students were brimming with arrogance, confidence radiating from every movement.
As soon as they saw Celestial Academy’s team, they scoffed openly.
"Heh... Just a bunch of small fish and weaklings.
Mr. Luke, let’s get this over with.
I have better things to do this afternoon."
Xavier Dalton smirked, arms crossed.
"Poor Celestial Academy.
They used to get warm-up matches before facing us, but not this time.
Too bad you drew us first."
Liao Maddox grinned mockingly.
"Xavier, Liao—show some respect,"
Said Liam Yates, the Imperial Capital mentor.
But before Liam could finish speaking—
Luke walked up and patted his shoulder.
"Mr. Yates, Celestial Academy doesn’t like small talk."
"Let’s just get this started."
Luke’s grip on Liam’s shoulder tightened ever so slightly—
And suddenly, Liam’s entire body tensed up.
A strange chill ran down his spine.
It was as if a dark force had seeped into his very soul.
Luke had just cursed him.
A subtle but persistent nightmare curse—one that would make it impossible for Liam to sleep properly for the next few nights.
Liam instinctively recoiled, stepping away from Luke.
"You... who are you?!"
Liam asked, his voice slightly shaky.
"He’s our mentor."
"And also a freshman in this year’s class."
Kevin Rodriguez chimed in, smirking.
"Mentor?! Freshman?! What kind of ridiculous joke is this?!"
Xavier Dalton frowned.
"Heh... If it weren’t for competition rules, we’d already be on a flight back to Arcadia right now."
Sophia Root seized the chance to mock them back.
"Otherwise, Celestial Academy wouldn’t be second place every year.
They’re desperate for attention."
Liao Maddox sneered.
"You just can’t keep your mouth shut, can you?"
Sophia stepped forward, rolling up her sleeves.
She was ready to throw hands.
"Alright, let’s just get started."
Luke waved his hand, signaling them to get into formation.
Battle Rules Announced
"In today’s match, the use of enchanted weapons is prohibited."
"You may only use magical artifacts."
The referee announced before the match.
Sophia’s eyes instantly burned with fury.
"What?! Just because I have money, I can’t use my best weapons?!
If this were a real fight, no one would care about stupid restrictions!"
Sophia roared at the referee.
"If you don’t like the rules, you can leave."
The referee replied coldly.
"Sophia, come here."
Luke gestured for her to step forward.
He placed both hands on her shoulders, marking her with two horned-demon sigils.
"When they attack you, don’t use defensive magic."
Luke said, smirking.
"Wait, what?! Then my handsome face will be ruined!"
Sophia exclaimed in horror.
"Don’t worry.
I promise you, you’ll be fine."
Luke pushed her forward onto the battlefield.
Battle Begins!
