Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 347: Collective descision
While Lyra and Victor relaxed in the steamy bath, the scene near the plaza was completely opposite to it.
The first thing Blake did as soon as Victor left was attack Xavier in his Beast form. The image of his mate collapsing with blood coating her dress had almost sent him into a frenzy. His battle senses quickly kicked in, forcing him to engage in the battle with a Beastman that was clearly more powerful than him.
He had no qualms admitting the truth. Knowing your opponent well is the only way to fight effectively and, in this sense, to survive effectively. That was all Blake could do, try his best to survive Xavier’s vicious attacks.
And once he sensed his mate was safe through his bond, the bloodlust consuming him reduced significantly. He could have turned back from his Beast form if he wanted to but opted out when he saw Xavier taking his Beast form.
Silver fox, the size he had never seen before, greeted him with an attack that sent Blake plummeting to the ground. Every attack Xavier made consisted of his mystic powers making it difficult for Blake to recover. Physical attacks, he could take as many as he was given, but when the Fox king’s ice was forcing his body to become sluggish, he faltered.
Blake hadn’t hibernated like other of his kind for years now. He didn’t have to do it after he passed on to become an immortal beastman. But Xavier’s power was so overwhelming that his body refused to listen to him. He hated to admit it but he felt like he was back in the past when he was still struggling to survive alone in the wild forest.
"Is that it?" Xavier’s mocking voice reached his ears, "Is this why you are her favourite?"
Blake looked at him as the former added, "Does she pity you for being weak?"
’Ssss’ Blake hissed, "Don’t bring my mate into this"
Xavier stalked the snake in his Beast form. His dual colored eyes danced in disdain as well as with unconcealed envy, "You sure talk well for someone that is getting pathetically beaten by me" Rage like never before occupied his chest, "You don’t deserve her, none of you do"
"Yet I’m her mate and not you" Blake calmly replied, "I’m the one that she likes and not you. She will never choose you"
Xavier’s power seemed to go haywire hearing Blake’s words. It hit the latter before he could defend himself. The crowd scattered away when the huge snake collided against the plaza bringing down the throne. On the day the new Lion King was crowned, the throne broke down.
Witch masters, the only ones brave enough to stand while the immortal beastmen fought, looked at the collapsed throne with a somber gaze. The ill omen had started for their tribe. They had just gotten over their late king’s death and now, their tribe could cease to exist if the immortals continue to fight like this. And it was all because of Lyra.
Resentment towards the newly crowned Queen started to grow inside their hearts.
Blake glanced around to make sure that he hadn’t hit any bystanders before coming to a fighting stance. He couldn’t let this go any longer, defense wasn’t going to work with someone like the Fox king.
Xavier was too reckless for Blake to calculate and plan. He had to put it all on the line and go on offense if he wanted to survive. Yes, he had no mystic powers, but he had something the Fox King lacked.
Experience in battles mattered more than stored strength.
Blake started to produce the deadliest venom he could conjure and waited for the next attack until Xavier said something that made him snap.
"She is mine." The Fox king’s frenzied look sent a shiver down everyone’s spine, "I will have her whether she likes it or not. Just you wait, I will drag her to my castle after killing you and her other mates"
Anger, Rage.....No, this was something else altogether. Blake couldn’t find the word for what he was feeling at the moment.
"What did you say?" Grim voice dripping with menace left Blake’s lips.
Meanwhile, Xavier continued as if he were having a normal conversation. That itself was chilling. "After she is safe by my side, I will make her understand that everything I do is for her own good. Then I will mate with her, my mark on her heart. We will forever be bound together, I will make sure of it. Even in death"
Blake glared as the former went on with his babbling. He was talking as if his Lilly had no say in his grand scheme of things. Like she was not important enough to have her own choice and say in this matter. Like he was ready to force her if she refused him.
Blake felt like he was doused with chilling water on the coldest day. Xavier was not the kind of person who could get along with their family even if he became Lily’s mate. The former will never tolerate other males by her side. He wasn’t someone who would follow the Beastworld’s protocol. The Fox king had already killed two females, once in his youth and recently Alice from the Eagle tribe.
What would stop him from doing the same to his Lily once she rejects his feelings?
The look he had on his face and the entitlement towards Lily was dangerous to say the least. Xavier would never respect her choices and decisions, nor would he accept sharing her. Blake decided then and there that the Fox king would not enter their home or his mate’s life. He would make sure to prevent it even if he had to put his life on the line to do so.
"You will never have her" Familiar voice brought Blake out of his thoughts and made Xavier react.
Kaizer had his shadow beast swirling around him, and he stepped near the plaza that had turned into a battlefield. Noah, on his side, ordered everyone, including the witch masters, to return to the castle for safety.
"This is an ill omen, Your majesty." One of the witch masters let out everyone’s thoughts.
Noah sighed, "We will talk about that later, Leave now"
When they hesitated, he repeated, this time, with a clear threat in his voice, "Leave now!"
The audience scrambled away not to anger him further.
Xavier glanced at all three before settling his gaze on what he thought was the real threat. The Black wolf. He knew little about Kaizer and his powers because the former had led his life in solitude.
Kaizer, too, only knew what others knew about Xavier. The new Fox king’s one precedent reputation was his killing females without any qualms.
Facing almost a stranger could put him at a disadvantage but Kaizer was ready to do anything for his beloved. One thing was made clear by Xavier’s own words. He didn’t respect Lyra so he didn’t deserve to be in her life.
